There's gonna have to be a lot that happens for that to even become remotely possible. They have a 5-1 lead over y'all and view both of our programs as small time so I don't think much inroads were made.

However much better than us that USF felt after whooping us 4 years in a row, multiply that by 20 for how the Big 3 feel about either U_F school. A couple of UCF fans also suggested we focus on becoming rivals with either UF or Miami but there's like 50 plus years of catch up that's needed. And even then their fans won't care.

I was speaking more about the agreements with their AD at the time.  To get six non-conference games with them was incredible.  To flop was painful.

I've maintained we don't need a rival.  We had great games against quality programs.  Louisville for one, was one I looked forward to every year when we played.  West Virginia.  Rutgers.  It wasn't a "rivalry'.  Not to be offensive I have never seen what could drive a rivalry with UCF?  Just the fact they're 100 miles away?  Made no sense- we wanted to be the polar opposite of UCF why call them a "rival"?

The AAC doesn't exactly set up great games so I can see how newer fans would treasure the USF UCF game.  And we've sucked for so long, beating anybody might make them our wannabe rival.

Well I guess FAU is close enough to Miami; at least distance wise. If both teams ( UCF and USF) are ranked, and a conference championship is on the line, its not small time in my opinion.

I do believe that FAU could eventually end up in big 12 in the long run…

Couple of notes -

1. If considering OUT as SEC, there are no B12 teams in the top 25 - this singular fact could point to a stronger ACC long term instead of conference failing rhetoric.

2. Virginia generated more revenue than FSU and Clemson

3. Oregon and Washington produce more revenue than USC/UCLA

4. Indiana? lol

EDIT: Realized no private schools are here. USC and ND would probably make the top 25

FAU will destroy us and then drive away in a Rolls-Royce.

The failing ACC rhetoric isn't because of anything to do with the Big 12, but rather the growing chasm compared to the SEC and B1G. If those 2 leagues take their pick of ACC teams once the GOR is ending, I think the only ACC team left on the current top 25 list is likely Louisville.

But also, Indiana?!?

Marketing! We went over this in the staff meeting, remember?! Gin up excitement, amp up emotions, make it an "event", put it on the calendar. Although we loved the West Virginia games, WVU considers Pitt to be their rival. L'ville & Kentucky play for the Governor's Cup. What did we have? Seriously? Other than UCF, what were our options? If you don't "need" a rivalry, then there is no need to look forward to establishing one in the future is there? But rivalries are what makes the down-marker go 'round. What is the Michigan agenda? Which matters more - Ohio State or Michigan State? How relevant is that USC game to UCLA?

But let's look at our conference brethren in the year 2023. What sort of "new" rivalry (once we are capable of outscoring someone) could be concocted? Gotta come up with something! Oh, and don't forget, the proposed "rival" has to see the relationship the same way. Very important for advertising purposes! :smileys-money-702364:

Great points! Yeah since private schools are not available I wonder how much Miami & Duke bring me? Just proves our points that the ACC is a strong conference despite what we are hearing regarding their out dated tv contracts

I think ACC will just reload if they lose anyone. They have the locations unlike the western conferences

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
