Bobby Eveld will make a great qb coach one day.

Coach Eveld: "Right when the ball is snapped, run to the sideline. I don't care if nobody is coming, run to the sideline and throw the ball away!!"

Coach Floyd: "I like my QB's to eat buttered popcorn before every snap."

  2. Can he recruit linemen?

No, WSU lead the nation in giving up sacks for pretty much 5 years, including the year after he was fired. He went through 2 line coaches in 4 seasons.

WSU went through QB's like cannon fodder under Wulff. None of them were ever healthy due to terrible line play. Two recieved fractured backs in 2008 in a game against Portland State(yeah FCS team). Connor Halliday got hit so hard against Utah he suffered a lacerrated liver in 2011 and Jeff Tuel who now plays for Buffalo was never not hurt(sublexed kneecap, compartement syndrome, broken collar bone, anothe kneed injur in 2012, and Marshall Loebestahl blown out in 2008. All of these on sacks.

This is how I feel after reading this...

Hopefully he learned a lot with the 49ers. Taggart is sticking his neck out on this hire.

Hopefully this won't scare Mike White off... I don't understand this hire.

  4. USF added 2 CB predictions for DW. He is talking to our plyrs and other recruits all day, I think he gets it, even though Shadow apparently can't

I don't think Shadow is missing that Nebraska has had football success, and I can't speak to their academics.

But you're right about Nebraska being bleak, their coach in a weird place and weather in Jan being nasty. I'd add that it appears Nebraska's best football years appear to be pretty far in the rearview mirror.

Hope he liked his visit here enough to come here, work hard & get this OL better.

The gap between their academics and ours is bigger than the one between the two football programs.

what's your basis? Not saying you're wrong, but I'm curious where you get that.

As a side note, does anyone think that academic strength is much of a factor for a JUCO transfer?

Well, they were AAU for about 100 years and only recently lost it on a technicality over their medical school counting as a separate university. But if you want to use something simple, we're #170 in the most recent rankings and they're #101.

Out of literally thousands of schools...69 places is not a big difference. USF has a much lower acceptance rate, similar scores and gpa. I don't see a big gap. USF keeps rising in the rankings. USF may eventually pass Nebraska.

who ever did the yardage on that cookie cake needs to be fired lol

This. A cookie cake is a nice thought but the decorating looks rushed. Obviously, a recruit isn't gonna say "Yeah, in the end I choose Kansas over USF because the cake was fugly." However, it seems to be Athletics' MO to do things on the cheap and easy. They need to hire a full time event coordinator or someone with experience in the high-end hospitality industry whose only job is to make sure everything is perfect. You give a kid a lopsided cake and spell his name wrong on his nametag or something and he starts to wonder how bad you actually want him and thinks back to how well everything went at his visit to that big time school.

I'm probably being dramatic about it, but it's all in the details; these kids are the bread and butter of our athletic department so they need to be treated like royalty, at least until you get them on the practice fields in the fall and break 'em down.

You are being dramatic. A cake is inconsequential in the grand scheme of the recruit's visit.

But its yet another example on how there really lacks an eye for detail at USF Athletics. This isn't something that requires an exorbitant budget, it just requires pride and caring in your work. We just don't have the folks in place in the upper level that inspire that pride from Athletics' staff. It sounds like Coach Taggart though is recruiting his pants off. I'm hoping Ward is a USF commit because we need some offensive linemen.

Not sure I'd get excited over that. Probably ordered it at Publix, and it was too late to fix a meaningless gaffe.  I'm sure no recruit is swayed by a cookie faux pas.

It might explain why there were so few touchdowns scored this year....
