  1. BB is still real young, but there were A LOT of missed opportunities. You could see him ready to scramble right when he snapped the ball, never look up after he cleared the defender and miss the swinging RB. I’m not about to write him off yet, there’s a lot of time and growth to be had, but he hasn’t looked good this year and it’s up to CAG to change things up and game plan around BB or see what GB can do. It was definitely a winnable game today.

Maybe just me, but the offense didn't seem near as fast today as it did the first two games ..... ?

You maybe right, things still looked too  fast for them. I do have to say that they got set fast, but did take a couple seconds to snap the ball. I just think BB doesn’t have the seasoning to move that quick yet, he’s still quite young.

    I said it.

I’m not quite there yet, BUT, the defense looked great and much improved!! The offense on the other hand, not good. Our Oline struggled ( which I expected), BB looks lost and can’t hit an open receiver and out receivers are not there yet. I think this fast offense if not good for BB or our defense; I just don’t think Golesh has the players he needs to run it yet. I do think he will get there and I was very happy and surprised by the performance today. I like CAG a lot!!

Marshall would have been a better add as well. They are up on ECU right now.

Hopefully next time the AAC adds teams it will be merit based vs just adding big metro teams. Still getting over our loss against WKU, but if they keep winning they might be a decent add at some point as well.

Agreed 100%! Drop Charlotte and add Marshall and or WKU, Coastal was still out there. I know we can’t undo it and it is what it is, but my gosh man, there were so many better options out there and even staying at 12 was better than FAU, North Texas and Charlotte.

I’m not anti stadium and 15 years ago I thought it was a great idea. In the here and now there are demonstrated ways to spend money that lead to success and excitement but none of them start with a stadium which takes time to even get to and once completed in and of itself will only generate a year of excitement.

Buy players and buy access those are the paths and a stadium at this time only serves to distract and drain from those actual improvements.

I think we were too reactionary to UCF getting in without us and felt we just had to do anything. Then after tying ourselves up unnecessarily we were unable to act when SMU acted and we could have used the liquidity and clout that was wasted on the wrong anything.

An idea can be good but it also requires the right time and because we are failing at everything else and don’t see a way out is not a good enough reason to pretend the timing is right.

Building a house is typically a good idea but that wouldn’t be the case if housing prices are at record highs, interest rates are the highest in 20 something years and your working at a company that seems unstable.

Sometimes waiting for the better solution is actually the right play and it certainly was when we made this decision.

We were never going to get into the ACC while FSU and/or Miami are there, we could pay $10 mil per year to the conference and they would still block us, the OCS has nothing to do with SMU getting in the ACC before us.

As for using funds for buying players and what not, these funds that are going to the OCS couldn’t be used on players anyhow. What the OCS can do is show potential donors/boosters that we are serious about winning and culture; which COULD increase NIL from boosters and businesses to get better players. It’s all part of the equation.

We're looking at probably $2.5-3.5 mill a year in all likelihood. I feel like there's almost zero chance someone gives us $8M a year unless they're just looking to set fire to their marketing budget

Yeah, your definitely right that we won’t get 8mil per year after looking at the other deals.

SDSU's deal with Snapdragon was $3 million per year for 15 years.

I would hope that our average payout per year is higher.

Agreed, I’m hoping in the 4-5mil range.

    interest grew slowly

I think it grew slower because it was an off campus stadium. I truly believe that had we had a OCS, interest would have grown quicker because of the connivence of just walking across campus to get there; on the same point, we would’ve had better attendance during QF’s years because the students would see us at 4-2 and the attitude would be “hey, let’s check them out, I’ve got nothing going on for a bit.”

  8. We know that John Marinatto and Mike Aresco screwed the pooch with the Big East, whether it was the TV contract or not aggressively pursuing Kansas, KSU, Baylor and Iowa State; BUT, what if back in 2011, big John would have kept his invite for Villanova to move up to the BE in football AND invited Georgetown as well? They would have had the Philadelphia and DC markets (back when it mattered), and more importantly, they would’ve had the 2 most influential schools in basketball, on the side of football. Would this have been enough to keep the BE together? I always thought it would have provided enough support and stability amongst the basketball and football schools and maybe Pitt doesn’t bail. Thoughts?

I think there are people that avoid the board after a loss because others are posting without control of their emotions or have been over-imbibing.  It's petulant behavior, but why let it bother you? Way the F back in 2005 this was a problem as the Leavitt-haters began the first campaign of grimacing about everything.  You really need the other side to engage or share their viewpoint rather than their keyboards and pout.  We shouldn't have lost that bowl game!!, waah!

I watched the WKU game, I hate losing (MOST PEOPLE DO).  If you don't have a reaction to losing, you've got the wrong hobby.

I also saw a team that hit harder on defense then I have seen in at least five years, probably actually back to 2007-09.  I saw us pressuring the QB, all in all we looked a hell of a lot better on defense. We looked like we had a plan.

Our offense moved gracefully down the field to open with a score.  We were able to run physically.  We knew GOING IN, that the Receivers room was the weakest.  That was proven.  BB unfortunately was under pressure because of a porous OL, but we are rebuilding that OL.  More of the same expectation of trouble.  nothing new there - areas of improvement.

To me, it was an improvement, saw some weaknesses we knew were there.  I think we get better each week.

If the only option is to armchair everything, pretending you can do it better - again, you have the wrong hobby.  Get out there and run your own college program, or get a Youth team and go at it.

Either way, I felt pretty good with what I saw and none of the mindless comments change a thing for me.  I carry on.

Spot on!! I watch USF to feel connected to our school, I love them regardless. Yes, sometimes it’s difficult and our current conference isn’t great, BUT, they’re still my Bulls. South Florida provides one of the best educations in the country and with the OCS coming, can provide a solid D1 football/sports experience as well. My son and I watched the game (he’s a Michigan State fan first), but even he was impressed with our offense and at concluded that “hey, we may be alright this year!!” There are always things to fix, but for game one, I was content.

  10. The thing that needs to be remembered is that WKU had a solid year last year and return about 85% of their starters and O-line. For a first game, the offense looked good (with the exception of the 3 int’s) and the secondary looked improved. As for the pressure and run defense, WKU’s experiences line and our new schemes played a part. We will get better, it’s just the beginning. I still think we can get to 6 wins.

My goodness, the toxic attitudes on this board after that WKU loss. I hope some of those responses are “hot takes” and overreactions.

Saying the stadium isn’t worth it, that the money is being wasted?

Saying the coach needs to be fired after one game? Keep in mind we have been bad the last 4 seasons, we have new schemes/coaches/players AND a bunch of talent transferred out.

The reactions on this board are unreal.

Completely agree, it’s the main reason I haven’t been on here much since the game. I thought there were some positives that we could talk about but all of the coach fits is just a way of time and so unwarranted.
