  1. I don't see 1-2 AAC schools leaving to join the MWC/PAC .... it will either be 4 or more, or 0.

UTSA wouldn't leave alone, pay an exit fee, leave all the other texas schools, increase travel costs, be isolated, align with the west coast (when the trend is saying all the west coast schools want to align East), just for a slight bump up in revenue.

Could I see a PAC that has multiple AAC schools, with East and West divisions, maybe, if the TV money is there, but no one is going west alone.

    Overall question...how big will Px conference membership go after 2024 or 2025 season?  18, 20, 22, 24??

    2025 committed status:

    Big 12 - 16 teams

ACC - 17 teams (without any departures)

    Big Ten - 18 teams

    SEC - 16 teams

I think they settle in around 18 teams each .... unless, one of them ceases to exist (ACC or Big 12), then the 3 remaining could end up larger.

If they go to 18, then I like our odds, as that means up to 5 more teams get the bump up.

It’s not like the options are stay in the same crappy conference as is or make a move it’s going to be stay in an even more crappy conference and receive Christmas cards from ecu every year for willfully contributing to their gain and our continued misfortune. If you aren’t moving up then you are moving down, every time you get a chance to move you should until you are in one of the only two safe conferences.

As long as there isn't a grant of rights, so be it. But that conference is long term doom for USF (as it was written in the tweet with USF the only school more than 10 miles east of the Mississippi River.)

some people are spoiled by previous success.

I watched the game and we never seemed at all in peril in that game. Whether that team was any good or not, I don't get how some get all upset about every single little thing that didn't go perfectly. It's as if they are unable to just enjoy watching a sport.

Last ten seasons we are averaging over 23 wins per year, with the worst year in the last 10 seasons was 19 wins.

Oh great.  So they're going to be the friggin' Notre Dame of the AAC with all kinds of special dispensation?

EDIT:  It's gonna be expensive for buyouts.  The only AAC team they have a contract with for the next 11 years is North Texas.

I was just saying for 1 -2 years, tops, I don't know if they can change all the other games. I am sure some schools will be willing to help. Not a Notre Dame situation forever.

ESPN doesn't care about that.  They own the bowls - the local committee is there to sell sponsorships and tickets.

This is true with a caveat. A lot of bowls cash huge sponsorship checks from the local tourism board, and the board pays that sponsorship in exchange for hotel room nights, as that is what they value.

For example, I believe the Gasparilla Bowl moved from St. Pete to Tampa, when Visit St. Pete (I might have that name slightly wrong) dropped their sponsorship.

Wouldn't Army just slide into the games SMU were scheduled for? The only wrinkle there would be if SMU was scheduled to play Navy.

Because Army was an independent, I wasn't sure if they would be able to cancel all their games for next year. I was wondering if maybe they played a partial conference schedule. (this is just my speculation, I have not seen anything in print either way)

While they had way too many turnovers, this was the worst officiated game I have ever witnessed. The fouls called  were ridiculous the people in the court side seats in front of me were furious with the officials

Just curious where you sit? (I am front row - not courtside - across from our bench on the baseline) .... I only mention it because it sounds like you are describing me and the people right in front of me.

  9. Noon - unless its a huge opponent, noon has always killed student crowds.

I ranted about this before. ESPN should not get to pick our game times if they are just going to stream the game.

I hate to say it, but Charlotte will be a small student crowd too, due to Thanksgiving weekend.

On campus will help student crowds for sure. Winning will help. Bigger opponents will help.

  10. Basketball needs to be Temple Terrace's and New Tampa's home team (really) ..... for week night games you need to stay close to home. Pick the weekend games are try to reach a larger geography.

M-F its the locals plus students, and that should be enough. (exceptions for big time opponents on weekdays)

Group Of Five To Power Five College Football Conference Realignment: Ranking G5 Teams Most Likely To Move On

In the wake of drastic, compelling, and sometimes confusing college football conference realignment, several Group of Five teams have chosen to move on to Power Five leagues.

And even though the Pac-12 has been nearly dismantled, these moves might not even be over. As the power conferences continue to expand, G5 teams might be a part of those efforts.

Here’s a ranking of the Group of Five programs which are most likely to transition to a Power Five conference. Five of the seven teams on this list are from the Mountain West.

Group of Five Teams Most Likely To Join Conference Realignment, Ranked

    Rank Team
    1 San Diego State
    2 UNLV
    3 Memphis
    4 Boise State
    5 USF
    6 Colorado State
    7 Fresno State

When I read this, I immediately knew the author lived somewhere out west, I then checked, and it was confirmed, as this list as such a west coast bias.

I could be wrong, but what we are seeing now is a devaluation of west coast teams. All the brands in the west are joining East or Midwest based leagues. Total number of P5 teams in the west is decreasing (Wazzu and OreSt) ....I am  not saying the author is wrong, but their bias shows, and they seem to be going against the current trends.

Why do teams not list accurate heights for players. The most obvious in the team photo is McGee (number zero). She is listed as 6'1" but clearly shorter than Gonzalez (6'0") and Aarnio (5'11"). And although you can't tell from this photo, Wilson is 5'7" but is still listed as 5'10". I have seen multiple instances in photos and in games where she is standing next to Alvarez, Tsineke, and Asensio and she is non taller than them.

The 52nd season of South Florida Women's Basketball will tip-off tomorrow night, as the program opens the 2023-24 campaign at the Yuengling Center when it takes on...

This isn't scientific, but I saw Wilson in Publix last year, and my reaction was, "she is a lot taller than I had assumed she was" (not based on numbers, just on my gut instinct. Meaning I thought she was short, and standing next to her, realized she was taller than I thought.

    BBQ

LOL - yesterday as Vicky and I were having BBQ for the second straight day in Memphis, she wondered what the food would be in the Club on Monday, and I joked BBQ, and she said she was going to get a hot dog then. Now I get to see if she meant that or was just being dramatic.
