I get it, used to work in the ticket biz.  But why would USF not want you to buy anything for the FAU game 2 weeks ago when all other future games had a lot of availability?  Doesn't make sense.

If it was showing sold out, then just a temporary mistake they caught and opened more up. Could also have been a TM issue. Not sure.

So, we discussed on here somewhere how it appeared that the FAU MBB game was sold out, at least through the second level with no tickets available for sale.  Well, all of a sudden 70% of the second level is now available for sale on ticketmaster.  It now looks like any other future game.  So, their expected following is not so great after all.

    GO BULLS!

Never assume a ticketmaster map shows what is available. While some places open most seats up, most places will only open up what they want you to buy at that moment.

Did some reading up on the NC BoG business yesterday when I couldn't read the article from the Observer that was posted. Essentially if a team wants to leave their current conference they have to provide the BoG with financial impact and validate why they should be able to go where they're going. I assume some of this is to financially protect the schools like Duke/Wake/NC State that would not be moving into a B1G or SEC.

It is just to protect NC State.

The state (government) shouldn't care about Duke and Wake, as they are private institutions.

ie - the state (government) should care more about ECU and Charlotte than Duke and Wake.

This is my dream scenario.   Our efforts will pay off (I hope).  AAU, OCS, winning records in FB and MBB, etc.  Keep grinding.

The most interesting thing to me, what does Miami do.

We know FSU is gone from the ACC. I am not sure Miami is one of the top 4 that gets the step up. If not, how does that impact us.

Another wild scenario. SEC takes Miami and FSU. Then does the Big 10 look at us as a path to Florida.

I have a hard time believing eight schools from the ACC are attractive enough to other conferences ("have a place to go") - that combination of eight in particular. The SEC/B10 gain nothing by bloating their ranks with VT, NC State.

I'm slowly coming around to the idea that this guy just might be a bozo without all the internal knowledge he proclaims.

Let's say the SEC and Big 10 take 2 each.

The remaining ACC plus a few key additions (USF) is as strong as the Big 12. If schools in the ACC panic and run. I could see the Big 12 taking 4 of them.

The sweet spot for USF is top 4 leave the ACC. ACC adds 3 which includes USF, and then we get a period of stability.

Rob is a USF grad isn't he? Wasn't he one of the folks people were hoping would at least get a look for AD when Harlan left? Did he ever interview for it? I don't recall

Yes. grad. Was a basketball team manager as a student, and worked game opperations under Bobby Paschal, then ran game opperations before leaving to run the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.

The NCAA and the Tampa Sports Authority are very much friendly with each other.

This statement is true, but you are mixing up the groups.

Tampa Bay Sports Commission (headed by Rob Higgins) bids to bring in events to Tampa. Michael Kelly and Rob are friends and work well together.

Tampa Sports Authority runs the opperations of Raymond James Stadium and a couple golf courses. (USF is good with them too)

I think conference payouts over the next 2-3 years will be really interesting. ACCN expanding into Texas/California, plus their incentive allocation for performance. Also how strong the B12 in basketball has been, how many teams can they get into the tourney? Then, the CFP paying nearly $100MM to each P4 conference. Will be interesting to see what the highest and lowest paid ACC team nets, plus the B12 as a conference, schools like SMU/Cal/Stanford/c/BYU/Cinci who are on conference-favorable deals, and then the new tv deals for the SEC and B1G also kick in. I think realignment is done until a number of those questions are resolved, plus the FSU lawsuit/settlement.

USF has 3-5 years to double down in our investments and performance. Show up, support, buy season tickets, go to games!

I think this happens sooner. I think within the next 2 years our conference affiliation changes (or at least a shakeup of members).

  9. Our Kenpom right now is in the 130s. I am not sure undefeated right up to the AAC championship game will be enough for an at large.

But - we are playing good enough to be a serious threat in the AAC tournament.

This year has been a huge improvement, and so much fun. It can be a step towards tthe dance next year.

    Bump. Anyone?

    Allow me to help.

Take these tickets. Fill your pockets with cookies from the Hardwood Club. At the end of the women's game hide in a bathroom. Middle of the night, eat the cookies. Tomorrow at 1 PM emerge from the bathroom and enjoy the men's game.

Now, I just doubled the offer and you get both games.

    Merchandise question:

Does anyone know where I can get one of those gritty not pretty shirts? Been looking everywhere but can't find it.

Also have been seeing a black Adidas hat with the state of Florida that has an iconic U over the Tampa Bay area. Anyone know about that?

I wouldn't be asking if I didn't put the effort in to look. Sorry guys for the non value added post just want to freshen up the Bulls merch and find it hard to believe that the team is repping this stuff and not selling to get that money.

I have not seen the hats out there yet, but I think they will be.

Every team has a slogan each season (all sports), and they make gear for the players to remember that slogan. Those are very rarely ever sold to the public, not just USF, but other schools. So, I am not sure you will find the gritty not pretty shirts.

We would have to have a strong run in conference play and at least split the two games we have left on the schedule against Memphis and FAU, then make a deep run in the conference tourney. As it stands now, the conference is likely a 2-bid league so we would have to do a lot to change that to get an at-large or win the conference tourney outright.

Only 1 game against FAU. we are done with Memphis. (not counting conference tourney)

I think an at large is a long shot. I do think 20 wins is reachable.

A closer comparison might be UCONN but they have a much higher profile stemming from their basketball program.

What should we have done differently?  Hire better?  Invest in facilities sooner (including OCS).

Sadly, the school we should have modelled after (or beaten to the punch) was UCF.

We were highly critical at the time of the moves they were making, like the bounce house.  We kind of scoffed at them.  We were wrong.

That being said it is never too late.  If we have a great year and win the AAC and have an imminent shiny new stadium we might get lucky.

Three years of that success with sell out crowds works for me.

UConn also had a great home to place all of their other sports. We have the A-Sun. Make Stetson and Lipscomb our rivals.
