  1. Deters. -- sorry you are wrong. Our defense was terrible. If you give up 188 yds rushing in first half don't cry about offense. Our team has so many issues right now and it is not quick fix. D tackles did not do job. D ends did not perform and offense was not acceptable. Plz don't blame just offense as defense sucked. 53 PTs is embarrasing

If I were on the defense, I'd even feel embarrassed giving up 53 points to Alabama. Good thing I'm only a spectator.

  2. The players who go to an FCS football program usually go there for a reason: A football program like USF didn't want them because they aren't good enough for the big leagues.  Well, those players who should be of a lesser caliber than our players, sure put a beating on us.  Always the hardest to lose to players you're supposedly better than on paper. Some times people under-perform and others over-perform. Guess all we can do now is move on to week 3 and hope we aren't embarrassed again to an FAU team that doesn't typically win many games and just lost 34-6 to UM.

  3. While both would be losses, not all losses are the same.  Loosing to a superior team when you've left it all out on the field is one thing, what we experienced last night was something completely different.

I agree that it's somewhat different. But still, he doesn't even have the chance to come out the next week after yesterday and come back with a win to boost morale and confidence. Having played sports in high school, I never felt any sense of accomplishment in losing to a good team. But, I certainly felt a lot of regret and embarrassment losing to the team we should beat.

  4. Unfortunately for Taggart, he now has to go to Michigan to take on Michigan State on Saturday and face back-to-back losses. No matter what he says about fixing things and finding the way to win, they are still going to lose again. He does not even have a chance to right the ship by starting Eveld and reviewing the mistakes, we will still lose vs. Michigan State just because they are the better team.  Now, he will have to start the season 0-2. There are no excuses for last night's loss. 1-1 was expected, but 0-2 is just bad.  However, in USF fashion, we may go ahead and pull off the win at Michigan State, only to build hope and call it one of USF's great wins against big-name schools and then LOSE to FAU the following week.  That's how we do it at USF.  Or...we just lose by 4 touchdowns to MSU, it can go either way really.  :guinness:  :slapmax:  :GoBulls:

  5. Unrelated..as I found the video of Fidel Montgomery making the tackle vs. Rutgers, I found his YouTube channel with 2 videos. One with him at Shooter's World practicing his shot as self-proclaimed "Navy General Montgomery of the A Team" and another practicing or presenting his final exam for his American Sign Language class. Just thought I'd post these unrelated but interesting videos. View if you're interested, don't if you aren't!

    ASL final:

  6. There was a punt return against Rutgers this past season. I believe Fidel Montgomery made the tackle and knocked the ball and the players helmet loose and we weren't allowed to advance the ball.

That's what I think it was green-and-gold! I watched a YouTube video of last season's Rutgers' game and this wasn't included..that is, unless I missed it. I'm going to look for that now, since you are telling me it is the Rutgers game I'm looking for.  I do remember there being some type of flag on the play so that could be it.

  7. It was sometime in either the 2011 or 2012 season (I'm thinking it was in 2012).  I watched the Ball State highlight and this was a better, flattening tackle than that video shows.  I still can't figure it out but I can picture it in my head. The Ball State run-in happened on the left side of the end zone, the one I'm looking for the ball was run in on the right side. Oh well, I guess since USF isn't a big enough program it is much harder to find this type of video footage using a simple Google or YouTube search of key terms. If it happened at Alabama, I'd be able to find it in a matter of seconds.  One day my friends, one day...

  8. I'm trying to remember who it was and against which team that one of our players made a tremendous tackle during a punt or a kickoff. After the tackle the ball went loose and we ran it into the end zone, just don't recall the points actually counting or if we had to re-kick. I'm trying to find the highlight of the tackle but need this info to find it. Anyway, anyone remember who made that awesome tackle and who we were playing? I do remember the action took place near the student section endzone during a home game. Thanks in advance!

    Go Bulls!!

P.S. post any video you want to of other great USF power tackles

  9. Report: Michael Dyer Has Picked A School

    http://www.cardchronicle.com/2013/7/25/4557564/report-michael-dyer-has-picked-a-school

"If you're looking at the schools that Dyer has been linked to over the past couple of weeks, Louisville is really the only one (no offense, South Florida) that fits the description of "a big, D-I school" where he would have the opportunity to "replicate and duplicate." "

  10. Blame it on Holtz.

Holtz coaching -----> football losses piled up ---->attendance went down the drain ----> relegation to AAC -----> attendance and ticket sales down even further -----> less $ for marketing idea implementation and pay incentives for marketing staff -----> marketing staff thinks, "what's the point?" ------->mails it in and prints poor t-shirt design, along with other poor marketing moves, like misspellings on plaques, etc.

    It's all Holtz' fault.

    :stirpot:

You sound like some president I know of ...it's the other guy's fault! Lol

  11. September 22nd 2001 in honor of 9/11

Wish our fan base was this coordinated. Organized and shirts made in 10 days time.iF8K6.jpg

Well, at least we would have the red covered...

Haha yes the empty red seats will provide that color quite well for us. And now with the combination of the empty red seats and our ugly white shirts, we will look just like Rutgers ..we are the Christmas stadium (Red & Green), not Rucking Futgers... Lol

  12. How can you build color uniformity within the student body and across the entire crowd for home games when you go and change the dominant color that a lot of people will be wearing? Not everyone will buy this shirt. As typical with home games, most everyone is wearing an Our Shirt from all the different years..but one thing in common is that they're all green. Now you're going to have some green, some white, and some any other color out there. However, they have just broken up the continuity of color. Developing a color to solidify the crowd takes years and years of people showing up to the games and knowing what color they should be wearing. Now, white has become an acceptable color to wear to a home game..they messed this up..we'll never build tradition at this school..a bunch of dummies are in charge here who make the decisions for us.

Not necessarily, although it does require an exemplary marketing department.

Observe the color-coordinated Boise State fans. And no, this is not the color of the seats, which are standard uniform aluminum bleachers. The color is ALL clothing.

    boise1_display_image.jpg

Well we are no where near this level, especially with our marketing department. And notice how it is the ones who aren't dressed in the dominant color of their section that mess up the "flow" of their colors. Now since we are no where near this, our best bet was to remain all green and since we will be green and white in the student section, now we will look worse than just one of those color sections in lack of uniformity. If they want to put out white shirts and then require seating in certain sections for white shirts and seating in certain sections for green shirts, I'm all for it. But that won't happen and we will look like a mess.

  14. AS EXPECTED. Came up short in typical USF athletics fashion...watch for the Softball team to do the same as they lose to Florida and fail to reach Super Regionals..as did the baseball team in failing to secure the Big East regular season title after leading nearly all season before getting swept by Seton Hall. Their only hope now is to win the Big East Tournament.

We'll always have second-tier sports programs until we don't.

  15. 2 years ago this past November, I was in the Philadelphia Int'l Airport in line to go through security for my return flight back from a Thanksgiving trip to Scranton, PA (Home) to USF (Second Home).  While I waited in the long security line, a TSA agent saw my green USF hooded sweatshirt and asked if I went to school there.  He had never attended USF and was a native Pennsylvanian but was very familiar with our football program.  I remember him saying we were "a program on the rise." (at that time, this was true...)   :yesterdaysnews:  :GoBulls:  :iconic_u_black:

It was still cool to come across someone who recognized our school and our football program so far from Tampa.
