That was a response to someone who said they weren't renewing and I assumed that meant they had tix last year .... and it makes no freaking sense to not renew this year if you grasp the situation they're in.

And as far as making folks work harder, not sure what else you wanted them to do. Cut loose a train wreck of a head coach midway thru his 3rd year and hiried one with a pretty nice track record at this level ... who then had to come in and almost totally rebuild a roster in an expansion team type situation. Sounds like your grasping for reasons to not support your favorite sport being played at your alma mater, which is curious to me.

Pulling my support isn’t only because of Antigua. It was the final straw. I honestly don’t have an informed opinion on what Harlan could’ve done better. You’d just opine about the reasons why it’s invalid even if I did. That said, it’s not my job to figure out what else they should’ve done. It’s USF Athletics job to get a team to win more than 15 games more than a couple times per decade. Clearly, there’s a systematic problem. I’m optimistic that Gregory will get the job done, and when he starts showing results, my support will come back. I suspect the same for others too.

  2. I wonder if there's any conditions here. I have about 40 USF shirts. Many of which have gotten pretty old in the 10+ years since I began as a student. Would love to trade in these bad boys.

And the way to build stability while the program tries to get back on track with a new regime is to pull your support ....

You're supposed to endlessly support a train wreck? I pulled my resources too. Basketball is my favorite sport and this program has been in shambles in like 85% of seasons I've been a fan (10+ years). Maybe losing investment will make folks work harder, because getting an investment sure wasn't.

Feel free to bump up those numbers.  Bulls Club reps will be happy to assist you.

I've given high 5 figures since I graduated (which wasn't very long ago). That's probably puts me in the 90th percentile of donors to this program.

  5. I love how we never fall for the "backup QB is always the best player on the team" syndrome.

How about we watch Kean or O in a pressure situation and not throw a pick six before we anoint them better passers than QF?

hope they're better passers. I think they're better fits for Gilbert's forced offensive scheme, and I pray we finally win a conference title. But, none of that is based in much objective observations. And neither is yours.

  6. Flowers combine numbers are not going to get him drafted. He showed mediocre speed in comparison to his WR and RB peers. And has no shot as a QB. That's been a pipedream. I'm honestly shocked his times weren't a lot better than they were. Sad for him. He has great game speed, but I worry nobody will take a flyer in him since his measurables were just okay.

    Definition of urban legend

: an often lurid story or anecdote that is based on hearsay and widely circulated as true

You know, like the hb dive being the bread and butter of our offense last year ...

If you think the dive being the bread and butter was an “urban legend” I seriously question your ability to watch football.

For what it’s worth, I’m pretty sure The Daily Stampede already did an analysis on play calling and did indeed find the obvious: the dive play (i.e. between the tackles) was called inordinately more than other runs.

Consider refraining from calling something an urban legend just because it’s not obvious to you, when you put in zero research.

  8. I can't imagine Battle is really in the running.

RB might be a mediocre RBBC.

Secondary is losing a lot, but is able to replenish. I'm not more worried about them than the front seven. For me the concerns are LB > Line > Ends > Secondary.

Special teams wise, we have nothing returning at ... returner. Johnson and Fullwood have been the bell cows. They're gone. I expect someone good to emerge, but concerning nonetheless.

  9. “It was kinda frustrating, you know,” Johnson said. “We had a new coaching staff come in and I had to buy in their running scheme and offensive scheme. It was kinda frustrating a little bit. I wish I could’ve gotten more catches out of the backfield but it is what it is... I think we could’ve taken another step forward [as an offense] if we were given the opportunity to get the ball out of the backfield.”
