No legacy ......... yet. Have to wait and see how his hires in the top 2 highest profile sports ultimately turn out, wouldn't you think?
Very well said. Everything about Harlan is wait and see. But things are looking like he was solid.

I frequently add facts. You stated something that was undeniably incorrect. You based an argument on it. Thought others should know your assertion was erroneous, and it does sort of weaken your assumption they'll back out (again, per you). That's all.
FYI:
Definition of pedantic
1: of, relating to, or being a pedant- a pedantic teacher
2: narrowly, stodgily, and often ostentatiously learned- a pedantic insistence that we follow the rules exactly
3: unimaginative, dullYou're still being pedantic. You pointed out one ancillary remark and still maintain you're invalidating an argument.
If anything, I shouldn't have bothered to add the UF cancellation. It adds nothing.
The reality is UF hasn't played on the road. The end. There's really nothing to refute. Praise him for getting the deal scheduled. That's all you can do at this point.

How about calling brybull names then, huh? Kind of a silly point to argue your position with me.
You got involved when you pulled a single sentence out and decided to be pedantic about it.
It's not usually your forte, so I was surprised.

We never had an agreement.
You're arguing against the future.
The past agreement doesn't change the statement that brybull misstated. We haven't gotten them to play on the road. We've seen others not honor the latter parts of their deals, where they're supposed to play.
I'm simply saying to hold off on congratulations to Harlan for "getting UF to play outside the swamp".
It hasn't happened. I'm deferring to the future. Otherwise, brybull should back off his statement and change it to "he got UF to schedule outside the swamp".
Instead he argued with me when he stated something factually incorrect. And importantly, is the huge part of making his deal a success. Therefore, we have no other choice but to "wait and see" what happens.

You're calling me a pedantic baby for informing you of your error?
You're being pedantic because you did absolutely nothing to refute my point: that we haven't gotten UF to PLAY outside the Swamp.

So basically after all that, you agree with us .....
Again. It's LIKELY. It's not something I'm giving Harlan a pat on the back for right this second.
History will have it's eyes on this deal.

Yup. I'm literally ashamed at people for not knowing or crediting her.

Sorry. Two games in UF and they still cancelled. Only intensifies my point.

Regardless, instead of being a pedantic baby how about you simply realize that we haven't gotten the Gators to PLAY outside of the swamp. Period. They're scheduled to. Many schools drop the second game after playing their home game. I'm saying not to take it for granted that it happens.
That said, it's likely that it does happen since it's 2-1 and is/was a coup of a signing.

First game in the modern era that UF is playing away against an in state team not named FSU or Miami. Was Harlan benefited by Foley being gone? Good chance but still the bottom line is it happened under his watch. Reminds me of the anti Woolards when the new facilities under him are brought up, that they would have happened anyway. Bottom line ....
Look, we also had a home and home with them before. They reneged. Harlan hasn't gotten them to play out of the swamp. He got them to schedule out of the swamp. Who knows if they're looking at this as a one and done deal?
I'll wait for UF actually playing USF in Tampa before I declare some massive victory for Harlan.
I also think IF they do some to town that it'll be embarrassing how many UF fans show up in our stadium in huge numbers.

While I was never a fan, he was able to get UF football to play a road game. That’s a big deal.
To be clear, the Gators haven't actually played the road game.
And furthermore, you're delusional if you think Ray Jay will be anything except The Swamp 2.0.

Sara Nevins: Hands down the most dominant single player USF has ever had.
George Selvie: The most successful college career of any player we've had.
Dominique Jones: Incredible basketball player in an amazing conference with mediocre teammates.
Quinton Flowers: The GOAT (stats wise).
Marlon Mack / Kawika Mitchell / Anthony Henry / Mike Jenkins: All contenders for the skilled players ever in terms of technical ability at their positions.

At the risk of being called a genderist/sexist, I will share the following joke to cement the point.
The difference between men and women is that men will pay $2.00 for a $1.00 item they want, while women will pay 50¢ for a $1.00 item they don't want.
I want what I want, and would rather pay a higher per-item rate to get just what I want than to pay more in total dollars to get bundled things I don't want.
Yeah. Hence prices of _everything_ will rise up in an ala carte world. So much so that if you want 5 things, you'll probably pay more than you currently pay for 50 things right now.
To some that's worth it (like me, because I only want 2 things). It's quickly going to be diminishing returns though.

Far better to give the customer what they want, and ONLY what they want, than to charge some customers for things they don't want to subsidize other customers. If a channel can't survive on subscription fees, it deserves to die. Capitalism > socialism.
I agree on the last point. But, there's a certain amount of "discoverability" created by being a channel on a package deal. It's also a lot easier conceptually to "just get" HGTV than to pay explicitly for it. I enjoy HGTV but if cable doesn't give it to me, I'll never buy it.
I think neither me nor the channel came out victorious in that case.
Simply put, I suspect you won't end up paying any less but end up with far less channels in, say, 20 years.

Every cable outlet is losing viewers. Cable itself is losing viewers. If cable wants to stay relevant, they need to switch to an alacarte streaming service.
Pay for what I use, and ONLY what I use. No charging me for shows/ channels I don't watch.
And the meter only starts 5 minutes after I switch on a show, to make sure it's worth watching.
Prepare to pay a much higher rate for those channels, then. If demand decreases (because not all subscribers are opted into, say, HGTV) the cost of supply will simply increase.
We're moving toward a world where Disney, Hulu, Netflix, HBO, and ESPN are all $20/mo. This will equal out to cable when it's all said and done and many smaller channels/packages will simply die.

I don’t think you can say they were idiots...looks like they made out pretty nicely.
I don't know. They've been utterly irrelevant. sPitt in both sports since f**ing the BE.
If they didn't leave, it's a lot more likely we have conference with WVU, UL, and TCU right now as well. They've done pretty well for their new conferences.
Means more money for TV negotiation and likely more relevance for Pitt and Cuse. The former was a Top 25 team fairly regularly in football and top 10 in basketball.

Don’t get cockey we have been more successful over time than you chumps.
The head-to-head matchup history between UCF/USF isn't even close. Again, UCF has the recent lead, but it's done nothing interesting in that time so it's moot. (Unlike in football)

We have more head to head wins. A higher overall win %, a higher bowl win %, as many bowl games & all americans, twice as many weeks ranked in AP top 25, & almost as many draft picks. All despite many fewer games and seasons played. They have a decided lead in conference championships. Nothing else.
That said, they've won 3 of the last 5 that we've been in the same conference and sports is a "what have you done for me lately" genre. They have some reason to gloat.
I'd rather that they had zero reason. Under CJL that was true. Since then it has not been.

Agreed. If BJ had CWT he'd have been scary good.

"You stated something that was undeniably incorrect. You based an argument on it."
I based no argument on this. It's why you're pedantic: pointing out the fallacy in something that didn't matter at all to my discussion with brybull.
You could've framed your point differently and less like an arse if you simply wanted to point out my error in a vacuum.
As for the buyout clause, it's also a good deal on Harlan. I think the deal is a net positive. But, it remains THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED ON THE ROAD.
The end.
