  1. Regardless of our record, why did everyone think that we'd have many fans going in the first place? The road game most of our fans will go to is Miami.

If memory servers me right, we had a couple of hundred there in 08 and 2010. Granted, that is not Miami numbers, but given we have few alumni in the area, compared to UofL alumni here, I think we do pretty good.

  2. Some good stuff from Greg's blog on the lack on interceptions. Coach Smith lays it on the feet of the safeties.

"The reason we don't have interceptions is our safeties do a terrible job of seeing the quarterback throw the football," said Smith, who said he expects a defensive back to be able to cover one-third of the distance of a pass once it's been thrown. "I took about six plays from pass-skel (drills) Sunday night and I said 'Habits are what we become.' Six plays where I had two or three people not breaking on the ball. That is a habit I've allowed to develop. That's on me. That's coaching. Not looking at the quarterback is coaching. I have to take responsibility for that. I'm trying to get that corrected."

Unfortunately, one of his incentives may have a negative effect. :)

And while the effectiveness of the incentive may be questioned, you can't argue with how much that first interception will mean to Smith, who has already told his players what's coming to whoever reels in that elusive pick: A kiss, on the mouth.

It'll be fine as long as he doesn't give tongue. :puke:

  3. Orlando!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm strangely drawn to hoops threads... basketball season can't get here soon enough.

Stan picked a great time to make the basketball team relevant.

You think Stan had anything to do with this?? You think it's a coincidence that we have our best hoops season in history and, in the same year, we may have our worst football season in history? .... The Eye of Sauron has shifted its' gaze.

Yes, Gollum. He's looking at Frodo(Skip) now. Personally I think Frodo falls into a crack in Mt. Doom this time.

People who grew up watching basketball have no clue what u guys are talking about.

If you know of any, have them PM and I'll explain it to them ....

Send them my way, Trip. I read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy before most of you puppies were born and I grew up in Kentucky, where you eat, ****, and breath basketball.

  4. Might want to read the full article.

Ramil said he likes Holtz as a coach, was "totally impressed" with him in his personal interactions, and he fully supports Woolard's decision in June to give Holtz an extension through the 2017 season despite a 1-6 record in the Big East in 2011, citing interest from other top programs in hiring the coach away.

"He was a person in demand," Ramil said. "There were a couple of significant openings where he had ties to. I think it was a good, smart move. If we'd have lost him at the end of the season, the reaction would have been, 'Oh, my God, he lost four or five games in the last minute, he's got a great record. Why'd you let him get away?' "

Ramil said he often points to USF football's academic progress under Holtz, how nearly all the team's seniors will have graduated by December, how that improvement parallels higher standards for the university's overall admissions in recent years.

"Right now, given everything in balance, while I wasn't happy after the game, I think I should be patient. I think we all should be patient," Ramil said. "I think Doug Woolard's plan to work on things we can during the season and assess at the end is the right thing to do."

I wouldn't wave good-bye too hard. Not just yet anyway.

  5. Great, he understands. What's he going to do differently against Louisville?

I'm sure Louisville would like to know, too. He should have a special news conference to outline plan of attack. The Cards won't watch, seriously.

Not at all what I meant, but your snarky comment was funny. I'd be ecstatic if Skip really tried something out of the norm on both offense and defense against Louisville. If we're going to stink, I'd still love to see some creative fight in this coaching staff. I just don't think it's in his nature. I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong.

Rush 5 every down please. Rush 6 on 3rd downs. Just be f'ing aggressive.

He has to do something. We know it. He and his staff knows it. The players know it. If and what he does, we can only speculate. That's what makes this place GREAT!!!!
