Gilbert's play-calling was identical whether it was QF or BB at Quarterback. He doesn't play-call according to any one player's strength. He does the exact same thing regardless of personnel. Last year, he ran the dive play as usual vs. Houston, regardless of the fact that Ed Oliver was there. No thought of any runs to the outside. Whether it's UConn or Bama, he's going to do what he does. Hopefully we have an improved OL in 2019 and maybe this will all pay off, but it will be rough the rest of the way this year.

Great points. My only disagreement is that let’s hope Gilbert is gone next year.

There is more wrong with this season than just the coaching staff. That said I think Strong is a good coach and can win. We knew this year was going to be a step back with losing some key players. We were hopeful some talent would mature faster. Injuries and a beat up team aren't helping.

That said I think there is pressure to either replace the OC or change offensive Scheme. I think the fans, and NCAA football in general enjoys the shootout style games and we need a fast high scoring offense to do so. We need to aggressively pursue recruits and transfers to fix our linemen issues, which also can be fixed with the weight room and more time.

I think this staff can succeed but is too stubborn to get creative, that may be our OC's downfall  especially after we finish the season without winning any more games.  Charlie will have to choose very carefully as if next year there isn't improvement it may be his turn.

I think you have good points. Honestly I hope you are right. I just think that Strong won’t change though. He is bound to Gilbert (look at his history) and it will be his downfall. It’s why I think he needs to go now.

We will be better next year. We have some nice transfers, a lot of players got experience, some good talent that redshirted will finally play, and the team will make the neccesary weight/strength gains over the summer. Im going 2 simply be grateful for a Temple and bowl game victory with a UCF victory being a bonus.

Lol! Nothing will matter. Better team next year??? We will play sloppy, have stupid, unnecessary penalties, bad execution, and Strong will still have that confused look on his face against the refs. Why? Because that’s exactly the team we have been since he took over. You can not argue against facts.

Also, I swear some folks here were saying this team this year would be better because they’d have a year experience under CCS and his system by now. 😂

Then you should understand that you have to have leaders on the field and we don't have that. Once again, you can't just make those magically appear. This team is young, you can't "overthink it".

    you are mistaken

Mistaken about what? Strong sucks. Period. He lost this team. The problems started with the San Jose game last year and has not stopped. No leaders but is it not the HC’s job to lead this team in times when there aren’t any field leaders? Shouldn’t the HC be the one to step up? How many on field leaders did UCF have last year on O? Strong is a joke. I do not buy the on field leader excuse. It will be the same BS next year unless we get smart and fire him.

Tulane is better than their record suggest,  they 4-2 in the AAC and their RB is legit. It's clear that we can't put together a full game and talent has pulled out some close games against lesser talent thats what young talented teams do, they lose when they talent gets matched though, which is what we have seen.

Agreed. Preach brother. No excuses for Strong and his staff.

Im beginning to feel the best type of coach is to get a young, innovative coach that needs to use us a stepping stone. Like Taggart, Like Justin Fuente, Like Heupel, Like Frost.

I am beginning to think The game has passed Strong’s views on the game.

He deserves a chance to turn things around, but I believe to get positive results in turning it around, changes need to be made to bring coordinators in that can help achieve that positive change.

I think you, my friend, have spoken my kind. Exactly what we need. We need a coach who does NOT find his comfortable spot here going 6-6 or 8-4 every year, and is here forever. We need some hot shot coordinator who will give us a conference and get picked up for a P5 job after. Taggart did this but he lost the one game he couldn’t (temple) in ‘16, yet it was obvious we were the best AAC team that year (only G5 to finish in top 25).

But it is your job to fire someone? Get the F out of here... no one worth a pot of piss will would take this job with a two year window for success. Regardless your wasting your breath CCS will be here next year...

The eye test is all I need to know a coach and his staff needs to go, especially after  he had 2 seasons of an audition. As far as hiring, not my job. But it’s pretty obvious  what we need. A good coordinator from the P5, or a G5 HC from the bottom 3. EASY to find a hard charger who wants to do his best for a bigger payday 3 or 4 years from now AFTER we win this frigging conference for once.

OP always makes this thread but never offers a plan or does he explain who would want this job knowing they get 2years to win...

I have a plan. Fire this staff. Find a HC who at least knows what he’s doing, as in this team looks ready to play every week. Not my job to offer details on who. I don’t get paid to find coaches.

This team has not passed the eyeball test under Strong. We have gotten worse since the season started and Strong can’t beat a team with a pulse. You can’t argue against that.

  9. Pathetic showing again. I do not care that we didn’t have BB. We had him last week and still got blown out. We looked (again) undisciplined with stupid penalties (the one defensive series where we had 3 in a row stands out), bad on offense with playcalling, terrible execution, and no signs that this team was prepared AGAIN! Do not tell me that this is a young team, etc. We are showing the same exact habits from last year but the only difference is that our competition has gotten better. What is CCS’s record against teams with a pulse????? Any CCS supporters left out there, you really need to get a grasp on what’s going on here. He’s terrible and needs to go. THIS IS PATHETIC. We are a missed FG and dropped winning TD from being 5-5. Probably should have list to GT too, make it 4-6.

When CCS is gone all is gone for the good!

I'll remind all tha UC is as young as we are and look light years ahead of us today.

Preach on. When we play them next week, the remaining doubters will see how better coached they are and how bad Strong is. We will just break with no fight. Thanks Strong.
