  1. Add fellow signee Borders to the list of Lelo's kids getting drafted out of high school. I don't follow other schools in college baseball as much as I do USF, but do the South Carolinas, UF's, and Rice's of the baseball landscape have their signing classes as decimated by the MLB draft as we seem to be on a year-in-year-out basis?

The amount of prospects that those schools lose will shock you...

This year alone Miami had 5 signees taken in the first round (including compensation round). Florida had 6 signees taken in the first 104 picks. Thats not even counting the underclassmen such as Brian Johnson and Mike Zunino that will be leaving school early due to be taken in the first round. I know there are others too, but I don't feel like going back and looking right now.

So no, the fact we had a couple signees taken in the draft is not an adequate excuse, despite what some on our board may believe.

  2. Longest NCAA drought in the state of Florida besides Florida A&M , UNF and FGCU. FGCU would have been an at large in 2010 but were not eligible for NCAA postseason due to reclassifying rules (moving up to d1). UNF also has only been d1 since 2005. Every other school in the state has been at least once in the past 3 seasons. We have not been in 10.

    Date of last regional appearance...

    Florida State: 2012

    Florida: 2012

    Miami: 2012

    UCF: 2012

    Bethune Cookman: 2012

    Stetson: 2011

    Jacksonville: 2011

    FAU: 2010

    FIU: 2010

  3. Just depends on who you talk to I guess. To me and a lot of people that I know who are Greek, dislike the term "Frat" because of the way its used. Its usually said in a snark, demeaning way. Silly, I know, but are you really that lazy that you cant say 3 more syllables (not you personally, just in general.) I do find it funny you tell me "ive heard the country...so dont go there." Haha really? I wasnt going there to begin with, but glad you put that out there. Also, fraternities up North and on the West Coast generally have members that exemplify the stereotype. Its unfortunate some people let hollywood shape their thoughts and opinions on things they dont know much about.

Understandable. Like I said, just curious on hearing someone else's view on it. My old roommate said the "would you call a country..." saying all the time so that's ingrained in my memory haha.

  4. Your hate for social FRATERNITIES (not "frats")

Can you explain something for me? Why do USF fraternities have such an issue with being called frats? I have friends in a few frats at USF that always correct me when I call it that. However, I have friends in frats at FSU, UF, and Alabama (places where Greek is on a whole other level) and they refer to them as Frats or don't correct me when I call it that. I brought up the USF people taking issue to being called frats and theyve just kind of laughed at it. I've heard the "country a..." stuff so don't go there. I just use it as a short cut sometimes.

Like I said, I have plenty of friends in fraternities and sororities at USF, and am really just curious. No hate here.

  5. I went to the UCF game with some buddies yesterday....this is what I felt while watching the game:

I hate Stan Heath. I hate USF marketing. I hate our lack of support. It made me sad to be jealous of UCF. I hope I'm not let down by the Sun Dome renovations, or by our "coaching decisions". It was a Saturday game at 5 pm against Old Dominion and the announced crowd was 4,000+, the student section was louder during break than ours has EVER been in my 3 years at USF. Fantastic chants. Oh, and the fans seated on the sidelines weren't 100 ******* years old, and were LOUD with their boos and getting on the refs. Doesn't matter because most of our fans would've stayed home saying "WHOS Old Dominion...they have a funny name we should win by 25".

This is what 3 years of USF athletics has done to me- I don't know how some of you have survived this long. I feel like I need to run away as soon as I graduate, simply for health reasons.

  6. You guys are idiots. I'll let UCF sweep us every season if it means we go to the NCAA tournament.

I'm sure most USF fans would agree with you ... even the idiots ... but not sure why you felt the need to make that point.

Because some of our fans are acting like tying a season series actually means squat. Calling a tournament appearance a moral victory? If anything WE are the ones claiming the moral victory in this thread.

  7. It's not odd at all if you look at it in context of their conversation.....

@MattFloyd11 your head coach was at abother qbs house today watsup with that ? I thought you were his man

@JStat_9 i am his man bruh...what QB you talkin bout??

@MattFloyd11 qb from country side , I don't think he's too good but if holtz looking at him he can't judge talent in my opinion

@JStat_9 well he could be a 2012 prospect? they arent loking to take another QB. They look at some QBs and plan on changing their position.

  8. Man Dude, why are you so worried about UCF's attendance?

The the band section commenter...as for the band being the complete student section, come on. Are you serious?  Pick on something you know about...and that is in the relm of reality.

You realize the text in my post was the article written by one of the writers that covers you guys right? I didn't take the time to write that...

And I think the band thing was directed towards me as well. I said that UCF's band is in the middle of your student section...somehow you took that as an insult, while all I was doing was commenting on the fact that, well, your band is in the middle of your student section, with no underlying meaning behind it. I've been to plenty of UCF games, in the citrus bowl and at BHNS, and I like how you guys have it in the middle of the section now a days.

I'm not hating on UCF's attendance that much, but to be honest I was a bit disappointed you guys didn't sell out.

  9. http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20101205/COLUMNISTS0306/12050332/1065/SPORTS/Peter+Kerasotis++Not+even+free+tickets+could+fill+this+House

    They didn't fill the stadium.

That's what you need to know first.

    They didn't fill the stadium.

After a week of speculation, anticipation and, frankly, a bit of desperation, UCF couldn't fill its home stadium for its football team's title game.

They gave away tickets to students for Saturday's Conference USA Championship Game, a game the Knights won by beating SMU, 17-7. Repeat. They gave away tickets. Free. No cost. No charge. Just come. Please. Pretty please. With a chance to witness history. Not that UCF has that many students. Only, oh . . . 57,000! Second most of any university in the country. Not to mention the more than 100,000 alumni who live within a few hours drive of the university.

And yet they couldn't fill Bright House Networks Stadium, which seats 45,000. By the time thousands of late-comers trickled in -- and how do you arrive late for a championship game? -- they announced the crowd at 41,045. Which, trust me, is a generous, if not a disingenuous, figure.

    Whatever.

Point is, they didn't fill the stadium.

And this is a program that wants to be big time.

    Or, at least, Big East.

At the noon kickoff, the stadium was a bit more than half-full. Or maybe it was a bit less than half-empty, depending on your point of view. I prefer the former, because I'm optimistic about UCF. This is a football program and an athletic department on the rise.

But, really, how do you not fill your own stadium for a conference championship game?

You're a ranked team, for the first time in school history. You had a chance to win your 10th game, for only the second time in the school's Division 1-A history. It was a gorgeous day, too, one seemingly cut straight from a postcard of what a college football Saturday should be all about.

And you know what else it should be about?

    Filling your stadium.

I got a text message early in the first quarter from a UCF alumnus, a friend, who was sitting in the stands.

"This attendance is stupid and embarrassing," he said. "Truly a shame."
