  1. Hate to derail this thread right when it is actually becoming informative, but I am interested in the opinion here.

Maybe it will be just a brief diversion.

What do you guys think? If AW signs and plays next year, what will USF's record be? And, now, how about he doesn't, and we go with Floyd/Evald; what's our record then?

Ultimately, I KNOW AW will do this university a tremendous amount of good. Not just because of his skill, but because of his class and leadership. I am just wondering how much we are expecting of him next year.

    Thanks

Can't expect 12-0 his freshman season, but I would say he finishes with a record similar to Bridgewater's first year at UL: 6-6 sounds right.

I would say 6-6 with Eveld as well but that would be the ceiling. We could be running for an ACC title in Woulard's Junior/Senior year.

  2. His offer from holtz was honored. Coach T couldn't have evaluated that quick.

wrong! coach T reviewed his films with coach scott before the offer was made

overlooked so far in comments here is that the young man is SMART, a big requirement in CWT offense

Exactly. Somebody earlier said he is a great game manager. That is what this offense needs.

  3. Looks like op will get his wish, from sb nation:

Under Jim Harbaugh, Taggart became a proponent of the power run offense, bringing the same attack to WKU. In 2012, the Hilltoppers were the only offense in the Sun Belt Conference not running some variation of the spread option.

Better find a new QB recruit though, does asaintii want to chuck it? If so NC states new coach is the better fit.

Hope he still comes here though.

Jordan Lynch nearly ran it as much as he threw it. I don't think Woulard is the type of QB who can throw 30 and run 25 every game. He would flourish under Taggart's offense. Taggart still goes with a dual-threat QB with the combo of a power-running game. As I mentioned in another thread, Taggart and his staff worked wonders on Kawaun Jakes, WKU's QB. IMHO, I think it's 60-40 USF over NC State.

  4. I hope he can find somebody who can pound the ball up the middle 25+ times a game and average more than 4ypc

Trust me, this is a huge priority for him. And he will get his man for the job. RBs at WKU, seems not to matter who it is, have huge seasons under Taggart. Hell, Antonio Andrews has a shot at breaking Barry Sanders' record for total yards in a season.

Nobody should expect a big first season. I say 6 to 7 wins would be good. But give Willie and his staff a whole year to build something here and things will certainly at leat look exciting.

  5. i challenge you to prove to me his back to back 7-5 records lead to anything otherwise.

And I challenge you to examine what he actually accomplished in three years at a fledgling FBS school, dragging them from being a doormat program in less than time than any reasonable person thought was possible. Looking only at records when evaluating a coach is simple and deceptive. As to being another Shannon, their career paths have literally nothing in common.

Funny because the same can be said about Skip Holtz when he took over in ECU.

Looking at only records when evaluating a coach is simple and deceptive? OK, lets just ignore Skip Holtz's down-trending record at USF then.

I hope WT proves me wrong, but 3 seasons at WKU with his best records being 7-5 don't tell us jack. This hire was simply on DW's SUBJECTIVE evaluation of what he believes is a good coach, nothing objective. Too risky of a move, if you ask me.

I wouldn't be shocked if you were one of the durptards saying Eveld should start over BJ.
