  1. The point differential may have been a bit of a shock but the loss itself was not that surprising to anybody that knows basketball, and this "rivalry" ..

What are you talking about? UCF hasn't beaten USF in Tampa since the 70's. They had 5 true freshmen on their roster. It was not just a home game for us, but a celebration to open our new arena.

It was just one game in the win-loss column and I don't care that we loss, but come on, to not even show up on a night like that is really embarrassing.

Worst case scenario is that game should have at least come down to the last couple of minutes, not been over 8 minutes into the game.

To me it is the ongoing trend of slow season starts that bothers me. If ever the team should have been up and prepared for a game it should have been Saturday.

  2. No matter how you frame it Trip, we looked like dog poo against our biggest rival (whether some want to acknowledge that or not), on opening night of the new sundome.

It's an ugly loss, and people have the right to be upset. Doesn't make them clueless.

Yeah, I know .... I'm just under reacting to offset some the ridiculous over reacting. I guess I'm just pissed because the whole night played out just about how i thought it would .... didn't envision quite that big a lead for most of the game, though ... the reunion almost made up for it, however. ;)

Oh, then can I overreact to your overreaction to those who are overreacting? Son of a beachin' Bumpuses!!!!

  3. And to think that I just bought 4 season tickets for this year! I guess the joke's on me, isn't it Woolard. There is just no escaping Woolard and his wonderful decisions concerning USF athletics. I feel absolutely duped.

I bought four as well for the first time. But, come on, feeling duped? You and I both knew that we lost 2 big men and our best defender (Hugh Robertson). Teams change every year. Wasn't Woolard in charge last year when the basketball team made it farther than ever in the tournament? Ease up a little bit. Were you the guy that I was walking out next to and he was blaming Holtz for this loss?

CR, I met you and your wife in El Paso so I would have said hi, so no that wasn't me but that is funny!!

I asked the guy about walking out of a BB game blaming Holtz and he said "fire Heath". Just kind of shook my head, said to myself "wow" and kept walking.

I blame Bush. It works better.

  4. I've been a USF sports fan for longer than many of today's fans are alive. I've had a LOT of rough times along the way and expect more. I hate the current state of affairs with our football team and the weak start for basketball coming off its best year ever. Still, I will be at the games yelling my lungs out, bring other potential fans to games, donating and volunteering and recruiting others to help build the program. The alternative is whining, giving up and ensuring things will never get better. I'll reserve my right to beach and moan but will keep trying to build for a better day.

  5. The good was the new dome with a large crowd and visiting with former players and coaches. Also good was the experience in the new loge suites. Great time. I recommend it.

The bad was our team following recent tradition and getting off to an amazingly lousy starting effort. AC's injury clearly hurts us but our inside game was nonexistent.

The ugly was the Mariel boat lift of Orlando's lowlife that trekked to our new dome. Don't know how we'll evever get that stench out of there.

  6. The Club Lounge was nice and the buffet pretty good, but it'l get crowded up there during significant games.

The loge "suites" are pretty spartan, but the view was nice.

Going to a restroom where the sinks all worked and it didn't have that funky corner urinal stall that no one could into was pleasent.

Walking around the inside of the dome without feeling like cattle in a stockyard chute was pretty good.

The game, not so much. At least it was an exhibition.

Is the club buffet a one price thing? I was led to believe that it would be some "different" food than regular concession stands but all a la carte pricing.

The buffet is one price for which you can buy a set of 10 tickets for a set price (as I recall, $250 per book or essentially $25 per buffet). There are also some a la carte concessions available. I did not pay a lot of attention to those or compare those to other offerings at the Dome but I think there were Cuban sandwiches, hamburgers and the like.

  8. Holtz was talking this morning about the possibility of burning evelds redshirt on 98.7.

that would be dumbest move yet

When you are a head coach staring down a second losing season and the angry villagers carrying pitchforks and torches, you don't worry so much about preserving redshirts as preserving your job.

Here's hoping Mr. Floyd rises to the occasion and wishing him the best of health.
