the most shocking part of that story is the part about you having a friend ....
kiddingggggggggg
Only thing more shocking would be if these ****ing refs would call a penalty on UTSA.

After our last possession, my friend said “I forgot it’s 14-14, it feels like we’re losing.” I said “Give it 3 minutes and we will be.” Boom. I hate being right.

Our defense for the first two plays of every game is the best in the country…

No need to spend money building shade for the OCS. There's enough shade coming out of this board on a daily basis to keep the stadium covered for the season.

They have possibly skewed stats on bottom feeders in AAC so maybe near level of Memphis that has played tougher teams.
My brother in Christ, we are a bottom feeder in the AAC that allows teams to skew their stats.

As much as we love doing that, and it is turning into a serious pattern and bad habit, I’d suggest we stop doing it.
We've started a game 0-14 three times this season.

We allowed 43.1 ppg on defense last year and are allowing 38.6 ppg this year.
However, our SoS is 98th this year vs 74th last year and we're allowing 48 ppg the last four games so we're trending in the wrong direction. Defense is at least as bad as last year, maybe better on effort and tackles but the end product is nowhere close to good enough.

How it started:
“Defensively, we’re going to be the most aggressive group in the country,” Golesh said in the release. “Todd is one of the best defensive coordinators in the country. I’ve coached against and schemed against his defenses, and I am beyond excited that I don’t have to any more. He’ll be aggressive, he’ll be intense, and we’re going to have a blast on defense.”How it’s going:
Giving up 48ppg since October

On track for our fourth loss by 17 points or more this season, which would match last year.
-
Wouldn’t be a USF game if we didn’t spot them 14 early.

The team shot well from the floor with 52%, including 40% from deep; however, they need to shoot better from FT. They shot 59%. That needs to improve.
Add it to the pile. Missed free throws are on the Mt. Rushmore USF basketball woes:

Solid analysis. I like that you guys dont just do a dry rehash of the game. - "there was this drive, then that". It's like... who's developing, who is dropping balls, who had a good game, who is breaking out.
I don't know what a hog molly is but I like the word
It's a type of fish but in football it has come to mean a large, no-frills player, that fights hard in the trenches. Usually in the same way that O-line and D-line players are sometimes called "big uglies."

Don’t get me wrong- I like that we have a QB that can run, but I do like the fact that he’s no longer the leading rusher on the team.
Hopefully Wright continues to shine and BB can focus on the passing and scrambling when necessary.
Definitely. Establishing a solid run game keeps BB from having to run and keeps him safe but also opens things up so he can make big things happen when the opportunity arises for him to take off. Haven't had a good QB/RB tandem since QF/MM/DJ. Would love to see NW as the workhorse and also working him more into the passing game for screens and medium slants while working in RPOs and designed QB runs with BB at opportune times. Some jet sweeps with a speedster WR would be nice, too. Miss that from the Rodney Adams days.

I wouldn't expect the Oracle to be particularly insightful -- typically written by a student who hasn't followed USF football. This is the same writer that called 2023 'arguably the most anticipated season in USF football history since first kicking off in 1997.' It's pretty bad right from the start.
QuoteUSF football won a narrow game against UConn 24-21, almost losing its seven-game losing streak against the team.
Not sure what that's supposed to mean. We had a seven game winning streak against UCONN. In the headline, he puts 'lackluster' in quotes but doesn't attribute it anywhere in the article so I'm not sure if that's editorialized or if that's something that Golesh said. It's a strangely written article through and through.

That's a **** good point, too ..... but as a firm believer in the NABG Curse it would be hypocritical of me to just totally ignore this. However, the Woody disser did make a simple but key math error in his effort. Woody started going to games in 2011 not 2013. I'm sure the "evidence" can still be twisted to put a damper on Woody, but I think he's cool ..... and considering the pedigree of his owner, I'm going with the tradition aspect.
2011? I sure can twist it!

The year you start bringing it,
we are relegated to the American Athletic ConferenceSyracuse, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh announce their departure from the Big East, kicking off the collapse of the conference. -
We lose to UCF for the first time ever
that yearwhen the series is renewed, proceed to go 2-8 against them in the ensuing years, and are left behind as they are promoted to the Big 12 -
We go
53-7461-90 (0.417) (0.404) from20132011-Present when we had gone105-7897-62(0.573)(0.610)in the years prior - We are left behind time and time again in conference realignment by teams that were previously below us.
There, I think I made it worse

So, let me get this straight -- a hurricane knocks down a tree in your yard, and your first thought is: surely this is a harbinger of good luck. I'll dedicate it to USF football. Then, you start bringing this thing to football games, and:
- The year you start bringing it, we are relegated to the American Athletic Conference
- We lose to UCF for the first time ever that year, proceed to go 2-8 against them in the ensuing years, and are left behind as they are promoted to the Big 12
- We go 53-74 (0.417) from 2013-Present when we had gone 105-78 (0.573) in the years prior
- We are left behind time and time again in conference realignment by teams that were previously below us.
And then you're going to say "It's not cursed, it's tradition." This thing is Brady Bunch Tiki Idol levels of cursed.

Bad spot to be in. With the way the defense is melting down, we could be down 14-35 before we get a meaningful possession.
