Nobody was checking at the door on the north end of 209 for either home game.  I don't even remember anyone being there.

I can confirm both of these statements.

Too late now, but it would be nice to staff it like a Bucs game if it’s obviously going to have the attendance of a Bucs game, and put the ushers down at the bottom.

The main positive of this year is the turnaround on defense. We are already on pace to surpass a few totals from last year. With 9 games left, there is no reason we can't get 25-30+ sacks, 85+ TFLs, and 10 INTs this year.

I'm totally with you on your optimism, but there are plenty of reasons why we might not finish with the numbers you're projecting.  Simply look at where our defense was after three games last season (1 SEC opponent as well), and you'll see that assuming similar stats for the remaining games can come out nowhere near the math.

In 2022 we had after 3 games:

TFL:  22.  According to your math, we should have finished the year with almost 90.  We finished with 62.

Sacks:  5.  This would equate to around 20.  We finished with 14.

INTs:  4 (yes - we had 1 more at this point).  This would equate to around 16.  We finished with 6.

We can look back and find plenty of reasons why the production didn't match the stats after the first three games - injuries, morale, etc.

  3. Don’t listen to anyone here who implies you have to have Club tickets to enjoy the Club and its AC.  They mean well, but it’s just not true, and I think all of us Club members will tell you that.

But seriously, as far kids that young go, I would actually limit it to the night games and sit as close to the field as you can get. As they get a little older, and you can trust them, they can usually find their way to a front row seat not being used (of course still close by and within sight).

Back when the Junior Bulls Club included free admission to the games for kids, it was great seeing our kids go from being held in our seats to start exploring the stadium on their own with their siblings and friends.

I am very excited for the pregame. Will be exciting as hell. Glad we picked these uniforms. Love it. Now for the game, I have a feeling I will be heading for the exits at Half time.

You might as well not bother going to the game. You have mentioned leaving at halfime in like 4 different threads.

Stay the whole game, enjoy the day, win or lose.

You do you. I use to be a guy that stays all game for every game. Have other things going on, hope the team forces me to stick around. We shall see. I have a sneaky feeling, I won't be the only one heading out if we are down 30 or more at the half.

Exactly the same as I used to be and now am for a game like this.

I usually wait for the end of the 3rd quarter, so I’ll probably be leaving then if down by a lot.

I think the only good feeling I can get at that point is avoiding the log jam getting home.

Sorta related...talking to a guy at the gym today, and he said that about five years ago they were offered the opportunity to switch to the east side from the west side. I recall a handful of couples who used to sit near us also were "persuaded" to move to the west side. Anyone have any background on that? Just curious.

Was this maybe between the 2014 and 2015 season?  In 2014 and earlier, it was cheaper to get seats on the East side of the stadium relative to the same section on the West side.  You faced the sun more, but you saved a good amount of cash.  In 2015, the pricing changed and suddenly you paid the same regardless of which side you sat on.    I remember some of the reasons believed to cause this was trying to at least fill one side of the stadium for TV purposes.

e-books are extra nice if you read them on an e-ink device like a Barnes and Noble nook or Amazon Kindle. Has the added benefit of not having a ton of dusty old books laying around. Of course, I do like paper books still, depending on the book.

Just curious - what makes a particular book better on paper than an e-device?

  7. Sad news. Read the article in the Times this morning.

Obviously we don’t have all the details. How is a person who is reported missing and later found fully clothed with no ID floating in a waterway considered “not suspicious”?

But probably none of our business anyway.

  8. Sorry but no big-name program or UCF.

This needs to be a guaranteed win. No one outside USF would fault us for picking a lightweight to open a season in a new stadium, so let’s not do anything to screw it up ourselves.

This has been waited on for too long and it has to be close to perfect to start the season off right and start a new era for our program (but I hope we start an era of winning more than losing sooner than that).

I think about all the people who never went to a USF basketball game or followed college football that went to the inaugural game and suddenly were season ticket holders and remained so for very long.

So yeah - I want to spend the game walking around or soaking in the scenery from my new season ticket seats, getting to know my new neighbors, and standing to cheer (a lot) when we score again and again.

No drama - just a nice night in the new digs.

I have one, not sure I am willing to part with it, what are you offering?

A kid (yes a kid) walked up to my buddy as we were walking out of the stadium and offered him $40 for the bobble head.  He had a shirt with QF on so there was obviously an attraction to it.

But $40??!! If the kid had only approached us from the left instead of the right I would have been the one to go home being reimbursed for 2.5 of the beers I drank.

We show the world at large that we are a reasonable athletic organization. We understand the athletic program is in bad shape and we will give you an honest shot at fixing it. That's why you give the extension.

By “the world” you mean future coaches you may want to lure someday. The problem is that recruits only have a few years of eligibility, and I can’t imagine a program having this much patience is attractive to them.
