  1. So Basically this new conference will be the best 16 teams not in an AQ conference playing in an east and west division. The winners of said division will then be playing in the conference championship game to determine who will get the last access bowl spot, if the MAC does not take it. Not really different than the current Big East in football. Basketball is going to SUCK!!!!

    I lol'ed

Nicely put together but it wasn't hard to overlook the fact that most of those good times involved the USF Gold helmets and Black iconic U rather than the poofy gold colored helmets we have now ... White, Green or retro helmets! Get rid of the sissy Gold .... not there's anything wrong with that.

Classic and Trip I agree 100%

  3. Beliema to Arkansas is a bit shocking, but to go from a top 3 Big Ten school to arguably the 6th to 8th SEC team is proof that there are very few non-stepping stone jobs in reality.

If you're not a HC at USC, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, or the SEC, you're a stepping stone. Fact. Reality. #dealWithIt

Even FSU is slightly teetering off that list after the rumblings about Jimbo and TN and them being stuck in the ACC, along with the ridiculous expectations of their spoiled fanbase.

I might agree with everyone on this list except Oregon. I see them as more of a flavor of the moment as opposed to a true destination school. Until Kelly took them over recently who had ever even heard of them?

They have been releveant since Joey Harrington went there. That is over a decade ago. 10 years in the spotlight is relevant in my eyes.

  4. Oh, and don't count out completely the big schools in Texas and Oklahoma. It might wait until the GOR expires, but if they voted in GOR they can vote them out. If Texas and Oklahoma decide they want in the Pac12 they'd be taking little brothers with them. All they need to do is find a desireable home for a couple of other schools and they vote to disband or vote to revoke GOR.

Theres no way they get GOR voted out. It would strictly benefit Texas (Texas Tech) and Oklahoma (Okl State). Thats likely at most 4 votes. There is no reason for any of the others to vote for that (especially since most of them might be left on the outside looking in). Unless we start talking Mega-Mega conferences going to 20-24 teams, then I don't see that happening.

Wouldn't voiding the GOR void their TV contract. wasnt it required for it? dont remember

  5. If I was Aresco, I would be on the phone with Swofford and the remaining BE football Presidents USF, CONN, Temple and Cincy. I would be pitching a merger of the leagues and negotiationg my buyout for after the merger is done, unless he wants to stay and be the commish for the new teams. the Bball only achools can join the A10 or form a new league. The 4 from Cusa can go back there, and the MWC want SDSU and BST back so they are good.

  6. Out of curisosity, I went to their main message board to see what the sentiment was now that the BE has access to the "access bowls" and they are shutout. They are a delusional fan base. They think that independence is better than joining the BE becuase their 2012 schedule is better than the BE schedule. Not even looking at the fact that their futre home schedules look like thier old MWC schedule wth CUSA team sprinkled in. Talking about triping over a dollar to save a quarter..... They dont get it. the BE will be the easiest avenue to play in an access bowl on a yearly basis. The Western division will be a battle between them and BSU every year.... But they would rather play in the Poinsetta bowl than in an access bowl. What a bunch of dopes!

  7. stupid, but doesn't matter. just a formality. I'm hoping the league can have an agreement in place by Xmas, that hopefully brings full members around $16M/year.

ESPN topped out at 8mil per team. On the open market, we're looking at 10-14mil. No way the open market doubles ESPN's offer.

If we get $12 million, I will be shocked.$14M is a pipe dream. $16M is not happening. Even with carving the package up.
