I'm sure the team is... I guess I am more amazed at how much enthusiasm and "smack" and bravado is being displayed by ECU...this is their Super Bowl.  I guess that's only natural. SuperBowl....come on....its a bowl game. We have been in games bigger for us than this one...Please dont take some college students talking BS as the fan base at ECU...We know that USF is the better team and you guys have whooped our arses 3 times...but the game will be decided on the field...I think you will be suprised by the talent we have and look forward to meeting you guys in BHM.

Believe me Hoss...If USF cant beat us in Baskeball...you have the worse team in the nation...we totally suck Id be much more worried about the football team...not that USF shouldnt be the favorite and win....But maybe your basketball team might like to play our football team... ;D

I can tell you now that the Pack fans will be totally shocked by this hire....This is NOT what they will want....They will see this as unacceptable!!....Im around NCSU fans all day and NONE of them will believe this....There are 2 major Pack $$$ men that pull all the shots at NCSU. Its a good bet that 1 or both made this call....not the AD.

yeah...but there is still 1 left...APP.ST...going for its 2nd straight D2 national championship....The Mountianeers are really tough...expecially in Boone,NC where it snows for about 1/3 of the games.....I am really proud of WAkE...It goes to show that with a great coach and smart players who buy into his system...YOU CAN WIN..even with less than great talent....Jim Grobe is the BEST coach in the US.

Yes....In fact we got both at home 07 to start the season and series thru 1012 or so...Its been fun for everyone...we will have additional seating in the endzone next year to handle some 50K+ crowds

Thanks for the insight....Our problem here is we are the redheaded stepchild in NC...I know you guys get sick of hearing about UM,UF,FSU and Its the same with us...We do have the respect of our state brethern in football, but I get so sick of NC basketball that I could puke. We really have had to fight UNC(the real enemy) for everything we have ever accomplished as a university....They hold the pursestrings and power over the other 15 schools in the UNC system. Hell we had to threaten legal action against UNC to get them to even play us again in football...I still cant believe that they caved in and let us back in....anyway...thanks for the info and good luck in the bowl....Im going down with my 77 year old dad(ECTC 56) to see us probably get another arse whipping by you guys....GGGOOOPIRATES

Dad...Answer a question for me if you can....Why is USF having such trouble with fan support....I was supprised by what seems to me somewhat low attendance figures for a Metro area. BTW....I spent a week at the Hilton/Clearwater on vacation with the wife a couple of years ago.. The Tampa area was nice....We really enjoyed the trip...My wife keeps raving about the hospitality we recieved.

I agree....I dont think we would have been favored againt Kansas...Cincy...maybe a push. We overachieved this year....and any ECU fan that tells you that they thought we would win 7 games at the beginning of the year is either very optimist or crazy....I thought we would win 6 and hoped to win 7.....I will say though....We were very close to have winning 9...but If a frog didnt hop he wouldnt bump his ass.

Maybe...but we havent played a SEC team in a since in a long time....I guess SC...maybe in 99?? I think it more the fact that we dont get blown out often....I KNOW....except by USF.

I could have denied it...I didnt...At the time I meant it. There HAVE been some pretty ugly things said about my Alma Mater here....Im understand that its the same with our crowd....It needs to stop...both ways....I wont be a part of that.

Im busted.....I admit it...After reading some things here I was upset....But I have calmed down. I think everyone has....I read your posted Christmas letter and it didnt bother me....I saw nothing in it that should have been deleted or had you tossed from the board...maybe Randy will reconsider....He has probably calmed down also.

I knew from the day that USF went D1 that being in the Tampa market...And yes...I knew USF was in Tampa....that your program would take off....The talent pool in Fla. is rich that there was plenty go around....I will say however...that USF had an incredible case of great timing and well as a solid football team when the BE came calling.....Hey I congratulate USF for making the most of the opportunity.

ECU has a long history of beating the spread...That doesnt mean squat. Its wins on the field that count...and thats been a mixed bag.

honestly the last thing I want this year is to be favored..Vegas had us underdogs most of the season and we beat the spread 10 out of 12 times.....Ive got a friend who made a living betting on us this season.

I think I explained the Pirate fans frustrations in my post...It really hasnt anything to do with USF but a feeling of coming close to where we would like to be and not getting a shot. USFs admission in the BE was a no-brainer for the BE....TV market and Florida exposure. I never felt USF stole anything....I thought it was the correct decision for the conference. I do think that we have something to offer BE...Fans that travel and exposure in the Southeast....But the bottom line is that we have had a lean 5 or 6 years in football and a really horrible basketball program....The BE would probably help us in roundball the most. We do have a very good baseball program that would increase the prestige of the BE and can contend for any conference title in the country. Most of us are very aware that some type of goofy shakeup would have to occur to get us out of ....as you guys call it CDOA ....and quite frankly...untill we can win that conference title....We dont deserve it. Im sure thats some of the reasoning behind all the trash talk....USF got the opportunity and to its credit...has made the most of it. Again...good luck in the Pizza bowl...I think you will see a better team than you faced before...but I would still consider us the dog in this game.

I hope to get a chance to meet some of you USF fans at the Pizza Bowl...Please disregard some of the trash talking ECU fans that have invaded your board....We know full well that USF is the better football program right now and why you guys were deserving of membership in the BE...Metro market...Fla. exposure for the BE. I congratulate USF for making the most of the opportunity...ECU really is in a terrible positon to ever be admitted into an BCS conference. Our location in the center of the ACC makes us almost a non-issue...not to mention...we really dont have any TV market to speak of. Yes..we have been around awhile and have had sporatic success, but our growth has been tough. I think some ECU fans have held it against USF because or your quick progress, knowing how hard it has been for us to get where we are. I guess the only real thing we have consistantly going for us is our fans....Even through the horrible ordeal we faced for 2 years after firing Steve Logan...We still had pretty good attendance and our fans remain diehards. Ill be the first to admitt we have a lot of fans with a huge chip on their shoulders...myself included. We are part of the 16 school UNC system and have always had to fight like hell for what ever piece of the pie that we get. The vast majority goes to UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State. Yes....we have an inferiority complex that is sometimes dangerous and just silly and juvenile.....The vast majority of ECU fans are not that way....I havent missed a home game at ECU in over 10 years and travel to cheer them on whenever its possible.....I never badmouth the other team and it pisses me off when our own fans do it.....Yes I may shoot out a jab once in a while, but its in fun. again ....hope you guys show up in droves and lets fill the stadium as full as we can for the TV audience....I think both schools would like to have played other opponents....but it is what it is......Good Luck! seeya in Birmingham!

Unlike my other ECU brethren...I have nothing but praise for USF and what it has accomplished in a short period of time....I know full well why USF is in the BE and it was a no brainer...Metro market and Fla. exposure for the BE. Let us not banter about stupid U locales and names.....Let talk about FOOTBALL!!! I say.....You gotta play on the field....not on a stupid message board!!....Lets get it ON!!!!!! Get ready to be outnumbered at Legion Field 2 to 1.....and YES....The Pirates will have to play thier best game of the year to win. We have been here before folks....Get ready for WAR!

Unless terrorists hold the stadium hostage....NOBODY will watch the game but USF/ECU fans.  ECU has been to more bowls and has been on TV more than USF....But still is considered an also-ran bridesmaid nationally. Although USF is certainly the fastest growing successful program in D1....Nationally...Almost nobody knows dittle about the school or could even care...Only the big 3 in Fla really matter.  I hope personally that USF goes north and PITT comes to Birm. to play ECU...simply because it would be a better shot at national exposure than our potential matchup....and yes...I think the PITT would be easier to defeat.  No disrespect to the USF program intended by my comments....I think USF is a fine school and great team and deserves to be in the Big East...You guys owned us in 2 3/4 games and my hat is off to you....I would love to have another shot at USF in some reg. season games...but this matchup does the Pirates very little good.   If I get my wish....You guys need to cash in some airline miles and still nobody will watch you play.....good Luck
