  1. i dont think its an issue of turnovers. it seems as if we can't get our offense on track when we're on the road. and on defense, we always start out looking good, but then we fold. maybe leavitt needs to smash more helmets into his head, because there's a dr. jekyl/mr. hyde thing going on here and we gotta get it fixed. this program is starting to develop a propensity for being inconsistent
  2. we're starting to get a reputation for becoming chokers
  3. i'd like to hear some theories. KU, Cincy, UCONN last year, it seems like we always choke when given the opportunity. granted, i didn't expect us to win this game tonight, but i figured we'd at least show up.. is poor coaching and getting our players ready mentally? i doubt it's because we are young. RU is just as young as we are on the offensive side of the ball, and they are ranked 7th (i type this as they are trailing cincy 27-3, but i digress).. WVU was led by 2 freshmen last year, and the road thing didn't seem to bother them either.. what gives?
  4. what's most annoying is that when you tell them they are acting like that, they reply with a, "you're just jealous".. i compare UF fans to red sox fans. they are obnoxious and they don't know how to win, and they are terrible losers. pretty sad for a program that has the same tradition as Wake Forest (1 nat'l title)
  5. guys, RU still has to finish their schedule.. sure, they are the cinderella story of the year and did what no other program could do in this century so far (which was build a national contender out of nowhere in 5 years), but do you guys honestly believe that they will survive Morgantown? UL deserved the win vs. WVU, but you cant really handicap turnovers and i think WV is a MUCH better offensive machine than that outcome. coulda/woulda/shoulda's aside, playing against WVU in morgantown is probably one of the toughest tasks for ANY program to face. when WVU wins, it will put all speculation to the side, and the nod will go to other 1-loss teams. has anyone brought up the notion that it could be an OSU-UM championship? the BCS computers dont factor chronology into SOS, so even though OSU would lose, they may not slip out of the top 2 to place them in the NC game (see oklahoma losing to k-state a few yrs back)
  6. i think RU will put up a good fight... they have an excellent chance at winning in piscataway.. HOWEVER, i don't see them escaping Morgantown alive. I predict that they (RU) will have at least 1 loss, and that is to WVU. but they are a solid program and a model of how to develop a powerhouse using florida recruits
  7. do you HATE it, or are you jealous of it? I admit, i hated what was going on in piscataway too, but i've come to terms that i really wish we had the kind of success that RU is having (i'm jealous). this was a program that was 2-9 then 1-11 when schiano took over.. he's built them into a national power and competing for a BCS game. even if they lose to UL and WVU, they did it with the same kids that we're recruiting.. i think schiano is the model of building a powerhouse from scratch. although i hear he might go to UM, i highly doubt it because he's from jersey and he takes pride in what he's built. say what you will about how we lost to them earlier in the season, a win is a win, and if we're measuring the degree of victory, then we only a last minute TD better than UCF.
  8. I don't recognize any bowl games outside of the BCS bowls. all others are just money-makers for bigtime corporations. especiall considering how many 1-A teams get to go to postseason, the big 4 are the only ones that matter
  9. We're out of the Big East hunt.. if we had won against Cincy, it would have at least given us a shot at it (a lot of things still would have had to happen, i.e.- RU losing to both UL and WVU, and us winning out) we are just battling for pride at this point.
  10. They say that if you win the superbowl, it gives you 5 years of job security. however, ever since the SB, he tried to rebuild the offense with people like Charlie Garner, Todd Steussie, Derrick Deese, Matt Stinchcomb, Jason Whittle, Tim Brown, Jamel White, and many other high-priced flops.. after we cut all them and had to deal with that deadweight, Gruden finally focused on draft players and got Clayton, Caddy, and Alex Smith. They all look promising, but the bucs haven't finished above the bottom 1/3 in the league in offense ever since gruden got here. to top it off, he is DEAD LAST in points per game so far this year... i can't believe i'm saying this, but i'm willing to give him 1 year after the end of this year. if nothing has changed, we gotta get rid of him.
  11. sorry, i guess you haven't seen the latest BCS, AP, or Coaches polls lately, but they ARE lightyears ahead of us. they are ranked, they are undefeated, and say all the woulda/coulda/shoulda's, they are better than us. there are too many "If's" in your statement to hold credibility. Good programs with good coaching win those games, regardless of "what if" happened. Leonard may be a senior, but Rice and Teel will be around for 2 more years (both only sophomores)... so i don't expect a decline from that program anytime soon. Besides, it is their defense that's winning games for them, and they play like a well-oiled machine. Here's an "if" for you.. "if" you could trade in the current situation that USF is in for what RU (ranked #12, bowl eligible, top 5 rusher in the nation, top defense, undefeated) has, would you? because i know i would.
  12. In such a brief amount of time, Greg Schiano has inherited a terrible RU team that was the doormat of 1-A football and has transformed them to the #12 in the BCS rankings as of Nov 1st. USF fans use the excuse that we are a young program and new to 1-A, but RU was the doormat of 1-A football and schiano turned that doormat into the cinderella story of the year. I think anyone would be hardpressed to try to convince themselves that RU had better players as a whole than USF did about 6 years ago. I think we're progressing along, but MAN, has schiano and Rutgers progressed light years ahead. What makes me even more jealous is that Schiano did it with florida recruits; to me it's living proof that a program can succeed with FL recruits, if done correctly.. and it's obvious that Schiano is doing this right in Piscataway.
  13. Let's see who does a better job next year: CRM or Huggins. maybe that will silence all the Huggins critics.
  14. FSU or MIAMI? my vote goes to miami. all miami has to do is fire larry coker, and get someone who can actually coach. FSU, on the other head, is a little screwed because as long as Bobby Bowden is there, Jeff Bowden is there. FSU's only hope is if Jeff Bowden is offered and accepts a HC position at another program (highly doubtful, but who knows? maybe a 1-AA or 1-A mid major program)
  15. Not for a while.. CJL has cemented himself into this program.
  16. I think the real question is: how long before they fire coker? will it be before the postseason (bowl game)?
