We got a DL Immanuel Hickman? Is he going to play this season or sit out?
Play.

There is another transfer portal window coming up in May. There should be lots of DT's in there, so relax a little.
If he is not replaced with another transfer, then start worrying. I like what CAG has done so far and believe he knows what he is doing. More so than CJS.

I am good with either GB or BB. BB had better stats but he also played worse competition. He just did. GB was really coming into his own when he went down. If you can't see that then you're blind. He was running wild on Tulane, who went on to win a NY6 bowl. GB is an absolute wrecking ball running the ball. CAG will make the best decision, but both have great upside. Comparing stats without considering the competition and also trends is really dumb.

I would assume USF has talked to all of the conferences, even the SEC and Big Ten.
Correct, but USF is getting a lot of mentions as a second tier candidate for Pac 12, after SDSU and SMU, along with the likes of Tulane and Colo St.

GB was looking fantastic the last few games he played. 6 TD's 0 Int's. And it is correct, he did have some balls where we got tackled inside the 5 and then we ran it in. Plus, he's just an absolute load running the ball. He also played better opponents talent wise than BB did and by far actually. I'm good with either and have no problem with starting GB.

According to a few articles and tweets I have seen, people are claiming USF has been talking to the Pac 12, including this one out of Memphis.
Mayor Jim Strickland pleads Memphis' case for Power 5 membership - Memphis Local, Sports, Business & Food News | Daily Memphian
Jim Strickland is bullish on the Memphis Tigers as a deserving candidate for promotion from the American Athletic Conference as the Big 12 and Pac-12 look to...The Tigers appear to be in the mix for consideration along with Tulane, SMU, South Florida, Fresno State and others. It’s believed they quietly spoke with officials from another Power 5 conference, the ACC, sometime prior to this year, and that they’ve also recently been secretly talking with the Pac-12, which also is seeking new members because USC and UCLA are moving to the Big Ten in 2024

I say Alex Golesh. I wasn't overly excited about the hire at first, but he is winning me over. He has down to earth, no nonsense approach built on hard work, grit, and determination. I see him working his butt off until USF wins.
Jeff Scott was all sunshine, platitudes, and slogans and that got us nowhere. Golesh is not like that. He just looks like a non nonsense hard worker.

It is crazy to think when we witness both SMU & TCU have attendance issues. I believe Cowboys take up most of their sports entertainment share
SMU has worse attendance than we do. But, believe they are expanding their stadium by enclosing the open horseshoe end of their stadium with a 100M expansion project. Pac 12 didn't care about attendance. They just needed to get into the best available markets with viable programs and right now those are San Diego and Dallas. If Tampa was located about 1,000 miles west of where it is now, USF may have been considered also. I can't knock the SMU and SDSU adds. Those were about as good as the Pac was going to get.

1) WTF has SMU done that makes them so attractive to the Big 12 or Pac-?
so why do we care at this point?
SMU is in a (much) bigger market than USF is. Dallas is at least twice as big as Tampa and is one of the top markets in the entire country, behind only the New Yorks, LAs, and Chicagos.
SMU is also a lot closer to the Pac 12 footprint and at one of the biggest airports in the country. There's a reason the CFP and a bunch of conferences are based out of Dallas.
SMU is a bigger name than USF. They previously played in a power conference equivalent. Yeah they cheated their way to the top, but they made a big name for themselves.
Why do we care? Because UCF (and SMU, Houston, etc.) will be making 40 million dollars more a year than us in conference revenue. Even if it's the P2 and the Next 3, you want to be in the Next 3 and not Group of 5.
If MK isn't marketing USF to the Pac 12, Big 12, and ACC right now, he is a complete and total failure.

We should try to get into any of the Power 5 conferences. Sure ACC, Big 12 would be better fits, but if that's not viable the PAC would be ok as well. Especially if they add more Eastern teams, creating a national conference. That said I don't think joining the PAC will ever be an option. I think Big 12 is the most likely.
Would the Pac 12 be a power conference at that point, or would they be relegated to non power status the way the old Big East and then AAC was.
I would like to join the Pac 12 once they lose a bunch of schools, IF they are able to retain autonomous status. But they are getting a lot of bad press now. Would they be able to retain power status, or would it be reduced to the P4. If they are, then it may not be worth it.
If they lose the 4 corners but are able to retain the rest and retain autonomy, may be something to pursue. We need to get our foot back in the door somehow.
-
If the Pac 12 loses the 4 corners schools, should we try to get into the Pac 12, or would it be too far gone as a conference.

I don't watch them. I don't think I have clicked on one in this thread yet. I am so numb to "hype" videos. They really mean absolutely nothing. Maybe they hype other people up, but they don't do a thing for me anymore. Crushing loss after loss does that to you.
The only thing that will change my mind is either wins or a promotion to a power conference. I am not buying fluff pieces anymore. If you want to watch and it is pumping you up on how hard CAG's guys are working, then by all means watch them and get hyped about USF football. I hope your dreams don't get crushed when they actually play games.

Honestly, spare me the motivational videos and pictures. I am not getting sucked in.
We saw these types of videos every off season under xCJS. It meant absolutely nothing.
By all means work hard, but pumping out a video about you working hard will not get me excited. Been there and done that and these videos meant nothing.
Just win.

Trust the process. What someone always says when they are not a hot commodity.
What has the "process" gotten us the last 20 years and two major conference shakeups involving USF's conference.
Left behind.
-
I hope y'all are right. I really do. I am just not seeing any evidence conferences want USF.
No conference has wanted USF since the Big East added USF under desperation in 2003, 20 years ago.
I hope I am wrong. but I feel that I am not wrong. If the Big 12 or ACC came out and said we are adding 2 teams right now, do you honestly feel USF would be among those teams.
I don't.

7 years ago no major conferences wanted UCF, SMU, or San Diego State. They started winning, and became a hot commodity.
If we start winning, build an OCS, 5 years from now we will become a hot commodity as well.
There is a reason that the Big East added us to their conference back in the day. We are a team in a good tv market, and have loads of potential.
20 years have gone by since we were added to the BE. The BE had little choice. They had 5 remaining football schools. They had to add to survive.
I do admit that if the ACC got down to 5 or 6 schools, we would likely be added. I admitted that.
Short of that, someone else will be added. Just as Houston, UCF, SMU, etc have been added. Maybe it's Memphis or Tulane next time, but someone else will be added.
Prove me wrong.

Call me crazy but I think if the PAC offers SMU, the BIG12 will snatch them up dangling more dollars in front of them. With ACC GOR, their best move is to take SMU, 2 of the west coast teams and of course USF. USF, UCF, WVU and Cincy make a nice eastern time pod for a 16 team BIG12. Nice 9 game conference schedule playing your pod plus rotate 2 of 4 each year from other 3 pods. Done. Why is this so hard for them to see?
GO BULLS!
It's fun to think about, wish, and hope. But, you're forgetting one important fact. Conferences don't want USF. They don't. At all. Many schools have moved on to power conferences since the Big East imploded, if you include SMU and SDSU. (WVU, Louisville, Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF, SMU, SDSU, etc.) None of them are named USF.
It's fun to wish and hope, but the fact remains conferences don't want USF.
I hope I am wrong, but I am not wrong. USF will always be in an AAC like conference. And to some extent that is OK if you just accept that.
One of the reasons I am not overly excited if FSU leaves ACC is because it just means more teams will likely be selected ahead of USF. No thank you. I am not interested in more chairs moving around if one of them is not USF, and at this point, unless the ACC loses about 8 schools, and becomes the new imploding Big East, they aren't adding USF.
Conferences don't want USF. Prove me wrong.

If FSU bails from ACC , USF has very good shot at moving up. We need to invest, win and stop feeling sorry for ourselves
I hope your right. I just don't see any evidence any conferences will want USF. History has shown that power conferences don't want USF. They just don't.
I hope I am wrong, but I fear I am right.

If FSU goes to the SEC, what makes you think USF has an excellent chance of going to ACC?
12 schools have been (or will be) selected for other conferences ahead of USF since the BE imploded.
What makes you think there won't be other schools selected for ACC, even if Florida State leaves.
I have zero faith USF will ever be chosen for a power conference. Ever. History has shown conferences have no interest in in USF. The last time we have had a conference decision go our way was in 2003, 20 years ago, when we were selected for Big East. Since then, every single conference decision has gone against USF. Every one. All 12 of them.

Who cares
This thread is ridiculous
You should care. Those schools are now making 50 million dollars a year, while USF is making peanuts.
It is absolutely not ridiculous to wonder why and get angry about the fact that 12 schools have been selected for power conferences since the Big East imploded. Why is that?
It absolutely matters.

This is misleading, we were never ahead of Cincinnati, Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, or TCU in any reasonable measure. They can't pass us if they were never behind us.
We clearly had a better position than UCF and Houston at one point in time, and they passed us. If SMU and/or SDSU moves up before us, they get added to the list. BYU is tough to say if we were ever ahead of them, but maybe them too.
OK, even conceding the schools that were in an equal conference as USF such as Rutgers, Pitt, etc. that still leaves by my count 6 schools that were in lesser conferences than USF when USF was in a power conference. UCF, Houston, SMU, TCU, BYU, and SDSU. All of these were in the MWC or CUSA when USF was in the Big East, so yes, they passed USF. The other six were in an equal conference and were selected ahead of USF.
Why can't you see that. 6 passed USF and 6 were selected ahead of USF.
No one wants USF, period. We are a nobody afterthought. MK isn't working ACC or Big 12 phone lines, and USF will always be a mid major. End of story. What more facts do you need to see.

Whine about "thanking" USF when a program with a lesser resume "jumps" us ....
They were in lower conferences that we were. 12 schools have passed us by for power conferences invites the past decade.
TWELVE.
-
Teams that have passed USF:
Louisville, Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, UCF, Houston, Cincinnati, SMU
Add TCU, BYU, and SDSU to that list if you want to include all mid majors. May also include UConn (Big East).
That tells you everything you need to know about USF. MK isn’t working any ACC magic and USF is utterly worthless to conferences. By my count that’s 12 or 13 schools that got chosen ahead of USF in the last 10-12 years. That tells you exactly where USF stands to everyone. A nobody. 12 TWELVE!!!! schools left USF in the dust. 6 of who were in conferences LOWER than USF. USF: failing at every turn for more than a decade.
