When reached by telephone after the game, Robinson coach Sal Urso described the altercation as follows: While the teams were shaking hands, a Dunedin player hit Robinson's Alex Floyd with a forearm in the face. When Urso went to break up the altercation, one of the Dunedin coaches grabbed Floyd "up around the neck" and would not release him. After some arguing between the two teams, "three or four" Dunedin players charged Urso, pulling his jersey over his head, and at least one Dunedin player threw a punch. The fracas then escalated more before coaches got things under control. After everything calmed down, Urso said Dunedin players began "throwing baseballs from the dugout" at his team. Urso said Pinellas County law enforcement officials were called to the scene, but following a brief investigation with input from Urso and Dunedin coach Tom Hilbert, no criminal charges were filed. "It was pretty sad that sportsmanship by Dunedin was that bad," Urso said. "We didn't want anything like this to happen. We didn't do anything wrong." Hilbert declined to comment on specifics of the incident, but did say "both sides let the emotions get the better of them, both players and coaches." This is the second on-field altercation involving a Hillsborough County baseball team this season. Wharton and Armwood were involved in an incident March 31. Adam Adkins
