Deadline to have your 5 keepers in will be one week before the draft, but I’ll accept changes up to two days before the draft - would like to get the bulk loaded in and adjust if need be.  Once we’re all paid, I’ll have the draft order selected randomly.

The draft is tentatively scheduled for thur August 29, 8 p.m. eastern.  I think that helps our friend out in Vegas and me.  I’m three hours behind eastern time, same for Vegas?

That draft time works for me. Live draft on August 30 at RayJ works too!

    My 5 keepers:

    OBJ

    James Connor

    Andrew Luck

    DJ Moore

    Latavius Murray

I didn't even know Wilcox was considering leaving for his final year of eligibility. I hope we can get to the point where our better players don't even think about bailing--Strong has more work to do.

Glad to hear BB is playing well to start--I hope he can keep the head game together and set the talent free. He really seems to have a high ceiling...if he wants to.

I hope we get to the point where are our better players leave early regularly and we have good young talent ready to replace them.

I was just thinking about when we went to Chapel Hill and played NC. It was just an ordinary game that we won...didn’t even think much of it. Now, we would all be sitting here talking like it is the super bowl...it really sucks how times have changed for the worst.

This game falls into the same category of opponent as UNC, Kansas, NC State, Oregon. A good OOC game that we should be pumped up to win. These were not ordinary games, the team would view them as unique opportunities back then as well. It is not the world-beater games of Auburn or FSU, they only come around once every few years. We didn't play those games every year back in the day either. It is not our super bowl, but it is a nationally televised game against one of the top opponents on our schedule for the year.

That’s a good point but are there many examples of a qb leaving early after only a one year track record?

I do not have any examples off hand. And again this is way too early speculation since he has only played one good half of football for us. But he has the size/arm/potential that NFL teams look for, already has his degree, and also married with a kid.

The more we learn about Blake the better I feel these next 2 seasons will be. Excited to see how he does with GT. If he speaks with the team how we have heard him speak I think he will be a good role model to our other QB's and will only elevate our whole team.

One thing i was thinking about after the Game was if AirBnB is as impressive as we all hope, then he may only be here for 1 season.

I'm expecting 18 - 22 thousand. that is how many fans show up to see the Bulls. We have about 10-15 thousand that show up to see the team we are playing. Georgia Tech should be a decently attended game.

It should be a decently attended game, but I'm guessing it will be 50/50 with Tech fans. It's a noon game which means it will be "too hot" to attend for most of our fan base.

The fact that Blake Barnett was able to even catch up, and by the coaches account get even with two incumbent QBs that had all spring to lock down the position to me says a lot.  All things being even Blake Barnett can do what Kean and O can do and more.  He's more durable and has has a great arm.  I'm not drawing anything from a int during a small portion of practice the press got to see.  I notice that BB is starting to spend a lot more times in 1s V 1s and to be honest, he's better than the other two guys.  I originally thought Kean would win the job, now I think Barnett will win it.  This kinda feels like the Bridgwater thing at Ville except this guy is a grown man and grad transfer... but I think it ends the same.

I haven't heard anything from practice reports or coaches that gives any real indication of who has been able to separate themselves. Pretty sure this is all just wild conjecture and speculation, but that's what message boards are for. I will be excited when coach makes an announcement and even more so when we see that guy take the field against Elon and hopefully cement the fact that he is the undisputed starter.

I predict trouble when we move from Nerf footballs to real ones.

I know it ruins the joke. But the Nerf balls are used in pass rush drills or scout team to simulate the snap without having to worry about the "QB" dropping the snap and stopping the rep so that no one steps on a real ball and hurts themselves.

I thought the turnout was lackluster compared to years past.  The line for a pic with CCS got as short as 2-3 people which I had never seen before.  Last year the line for QBs stretched 2/3s of the way across the arena.  This year was definitely not the case.  The overall buzz was muted compared to the last few seasons.

Last year they had 11x14s by position groups and this year they had a very generic card on each of the position group tables for the players to sign.

I have not been to a fanfest in several years due to living out of town so I'm not sure where its been held recently. But do you think the lackluster attendance is due to being at the Yuengling Center instead of Raymond James?

If we had our guy there's no way BB would be looking at us. Also, if you have your guy and the 5 star's eligibility overlaps you're wasting a scholarship. If the race is still open I see the appeal but if Kean/Oladokun looked like a more accurate QF this move never even gets thought about. We probably try to shop for a another LB or OL with that scholly.

You never turn away talent from your football team and it's not like BB is watching practice film on CO and BK and therefor knows they aren't going to be the guy before he decides to come here. He came here because he got sold he would have a chance to start. I'm not saying that isn't true, but all of recruiting is a sales pitch with false promises.

We still have open scholarships I believe and who's to say we weren't out there shopping for LB or OL behind the scenes as well and they decided to go elsewhere. Who knew we were recruiting the TE from Ole Miss? Does that mean Wilcox isn't going to play anymore if he gets eligible immediately? No it just means you always welcome talent and competition.

There absolutely is - look around college football.  Generations of fans attending and watching football.  Students saying that the stadium is too far away or they would attend.  Refusing to see the evidence is different than there not being evidence.  Hell, last year at the ucf game, I could be wrong, but thier student section now goes from the bottom to the top of both end zones.  If you think there is no correlation to growing up in that type of environment and future support, . well... I don’t know what to say.

Our student section was once 15,000+. When we were winning and in a P5 conference. How many of those students now buy tickets? What makes you think they would buy tickets for an OCS? How full will the UCF stadium be if they start losing again?

The only tangible reason to build an OCS is if it is a pre-req to getting into a P5. Otherwise it is a wasted investment, there is just not enough support.

More information may not be needed, but a video hyping up the athletics program while parents and siblings are there with some "Be Part of the Action!" encouragement should be part of every orientation.

I didn't know it was free for students and never attended a game as a student, for that I blame athletics.

Take some personal responsibility and blame yourself. You never had a conversation with a single other student about attending a game and they never mentioned it was free? Not everything is on athletics to market 100%. Plenty of work has to be done by word of mouth and personal contribution.

To be fair... Alvarado was a PUNTER... not a kicker.

However xCJL never brought a good kicker to the program so Alvarado was forced to do double duty as kicker and punter.  This was finally rectified when Bonani was brought in as a kicker, which allowed Alvarado to focus back to punting.

Wrong. Alvarado was brought in as a kicker who then ended up being a better punter than a kicker.

Yeah, that’s what I did when I watched our offensive numbers go down and we let teams like San Jose State and Tulsa compete with us , which is a fact.  Didn’t we run more plays per game last season as well?  We won’t have QF to bail us out of those games this year, and I think that’s a legitimate concern.

Oh that's a fact just like how the year before we let teams like SMU, ECU, and Syracuse compete with us.
