  1. I don't look at it that people come here because they screwed up...I look at it that people come here because they realize that USF is a better opportunity and better school for them.
  2. heck yeah...stuff like this is what credit cards were made for! and in SG's defense-they did advertise the student package in the Oracle. I know it's not a good excuse but with Christmas coming I know a lot of students who wanted to go but didn't have the spare money (even with credit cards).
  3. i thought those shirts were really ugly for how much they were asking for them
  4. I wouldn't have been able to even order them till the end of the week--therefore my tickets i have now are in a much better section/row than they would have been. ..and I only wish I was joking. :-[
  5. nope, like i said before i was in such a hurry to get them on sunday night (i wouldn't have been able to get them from school until around thursday) from ticketmaster. :-[ either way i'll be close enough where i can yell at the NC players... :-X
  6. the only thing i'm worry about is being surrounded by rude NC fans (i'm in section 111 -NC side)....Miami was rough and I hope NC fans are more relaxed
  7. I've been running 5K's when I can (it's kinda expensive for a college student) but I'm trying to work up to do a half marathon but it's soooo hard because I have no time. Where do you normally run?
  8. -full time student (1 more semester left..!!!!!!) -server at first watch restaurants (about 25 hours/week) -oracle sales rep (30 hours/week)
  9. back on topic.... i'm thinking sales will go up a lot on the 15th (payday) and as we get closer to the christmas holiday...i know many people who'd love to find tickets in their stockings..
  10. this is the first year that we've been completely independent from SG's help...so maybe you've looked at the records from last year but it's different now and we have to actually cover our costs. So if we start making exceptions for the athletic department and give them free advertisement, shouldn't we do it for SG and Parking services since they serve the students too.....? where do we draw the line? who decides who "gets a deal"? according to whom.....? anyways i was just giving my opinion on what the athletics department could do to reach the students in order to increase attendance to sporting events…but I’m a marketing major what the hell do I know? If you’d like to talk about it further faza you can IM me..i don't want this thread to turn into petty bickering
  11. eh..ok...everyone and their mom knows about the bowl game---so why all the fuss about the oracle not doing their job by having it in the paper every day ??? ..and why does coca-cola advertise at all since everyone (including the guy in the produce depart.) knows about it....
  12. ok let me rephrase.... they're gonna wanna know why a LOT of students/staff bought tickets from ticketmaster rather than from school (like myself) and it's because they didn't know that you need to buy them from the school in order for it to "count"
  13. 1. Our rates are a LOT cheaper than St. Pete times and the Tribune, and the athletics department DOES "get a break" since they do get an on campus rate (which is really cheap) for being an on-campus org. 2. It isn't our job to market this bowl game for the athletics department-we have a BUSINESS to run. We had 2 stories last week and also had a thing on the top of the sports page every day last week. 3. I'm not here to argue whether or not you like our newspaper the point is is that the athletics department isn't marketing to the students and they're gonna wanna know why the student's didn't show up to the game on the 31st. and i bet you $100 more people read the Oracle over the St. Pete Times... ...you're kidding right? heaven forbid you PAY for a service/product.....
  14. I work for The Oracle and we've tried numerous times to get the athletic department to advertise with us--only until last week did they advertise for a basketball game (once) and for the bowl game (once). Everytime we talk to them they say how they can get FREE advertisement in the St. Pete Times---you find me a student who reads that on a daily (or even weekly) basis. They even did a story on NBC news and interviewed students and they were talking about why students don't support the team (like UM, FSU etc) and one girl was saying how they never even know what team they're playing because they don't advertise/market to students. ...and they'll wonder why not many students show up to the game
