  1. Basketball practice facilty and the renovated Sun Dome will be better than what you have as well. : Our practice facility may end up better than theirs, but it'll take a pretty substantial Sun Dome renovation to approach their new arena. Agreed, and that's just to approach theirs .... Ours will be just fine but only a demo and ground up build would enable us to equal theirs ... much less be better. We're putting enough capital into it. The inside of the new Sun Dome is going to be equal to, if not better than what they have. I really hope you're right but will believe it when I see it ...

  3. Maybe this is more a testament of your actual intelligence? Hmmmmmm? What, the fact that I didn't know the difference between UCF, BCC and FAMU back then ....? Wait ... there was no difference back then. Yeah, great ... now we have to tent the place.
  4. If he relents, people will think UCF had dirty hands in this matter. Seriously, this is nothing more than a school's fans and boosters recruiting a kid that has an LOI to another school. Amazed to see the UCF haters rationalize a way to blame UCF for this BS. If this is cool, we might as well call Josh Grady . . . . . because his LOI to Vandy is apparently meaningless. +1 it's amazing what green and gold shades can do where only UCF is all in the wrong here :. It is clear Louisville boosters, fans, and maybe coaches have harassed him after national signing day. Is it easy to prove? probably not but if anyone has followed this kid's recruitment and how Louisville fans reacted online and through their media when he put that UCF hat on, you know they are nuts and tampered with his recruitment. Oleary's quotes about him being fine when he visits UCF( a few times) but how 'things change when he goes back up there' is basically admitting he is taking a lot of heat in his hometown. I've never seen a fanbase as bitter and myopic as Louisville over 1 recruit who may never amount to anything. You are correct ... UCF is not the only one in the wrong here. Smith does have responsibility, too ... but when I put the blame squarely on UCF for the situation, it's in the context that they are the ones who can rectify it with little or no harm. To me, the circumstances do play a factor in how it should be handled. Again, within 24 hours of signing with Louisville, Strong made it a priority to contact Smith and secure his commitment to his hometown team. Damarcus cruises along with this huge decision behind him, as the only qb commitment, until late last year when Bridgewater enters the picture... I don't know what L'ville has been telling the kid all along but that threw a huge wrench in there and I can only imagine the emotional roller coaster Smith was on. Factor in God knows what the UCF coaches were telling him and his head was probably spinning ... Again, why did he wait until 2 days after NSD to get his LOI in if this was just a slam dunk for UCF? .... And to reiterate, the kid made a mistake, he shouldn't have signed if he wasn't 100% commited ... but maybe at the time signed, he was under the impression he would be in a legit battle for the starting qb. Any way you want to slice or spin it, GOL is being a ***** for not giving him is release when it would be no skin off his nose to do it ... I'm sure Mr. Yerrid is following this closely.
  5. If he relents, people will think UCF had dirty hands in this matter. The fact that there was smoke to this fire over a month ago, you're probably right .... because it may be true. Please spare us THAT ********. The blame is squarely on UCF because they can simply rectify this with little or no damage done to them, but instead they're needlessly screwing with a young man's life ... Again, if there weren't some extinuating circumstances here, I wouldn't be that hard headed about it. If you're going to make stupid analogies, at least pick a similar talent .... and be sure to find one that had commited over a year prior to NSD. LOL that the internet tough guy that drags this thread to a halt is a moderator. : ... I'm pretty sure your insightful Josh Grady "analogy" killed this thing off ... I just threw dirt on the grave. And I thought Internet tough guys threatened to beat people up ... plus, I have to keep repeating this, mods are people, too, with the same weaknesses as normal members so please don't hold us to any higher esteem.

  7. I assume you mean "despite his signing the LOI" ... Not sure what that means ... I don't, not in a case like this ... It's not like they probably had a lot of time/money invested in this kid. Less than two months before NSD he was still a L'ville commit and had been for over a year. Kid made a mistake, possibly because he was led to believe something inaccurate, intentionally or not ... and that's probably why he won't let him out, because he knows they misled him and this would be a verification of that. I don't think you should automatically give a kid a release but each instance should be treated on its' own merit and GOL coming out saying he never has and never will is just another example of him being a douche.
  8. if USF was in the same situation would you feel the same way? LOI have to mean something, the kid is primadona I wouldn't want a kid on my team who doesn't want to be there and is taking up a scholarship. He wants to teach him a lesson ... kind of like he wanted to teach Ereck a lesson ... apparently has no qualms at all about screwing with young men's lives.
  9. Honestly, I might kind agree with you if there weren't some out of the norm stuff here ... Strong made it a top priority to visit this kid and get his commitment the first day after he was hired. A year later the rug's kind of pulled out from under him with the Bridgewater commitment less than 2 months before NSD. It had to have been an emotional roller coaster those last few months, especially with him being a local L'ville kid ... and throw in that there may have been some obtuse conversations about what his role would be at UCF ..
  10. If that's the case, he's a bigger ******* idiot than I ever imagined ... You stopped recruiting qb's because "he let you know he was involved"?? Smith wanted to be there long before NSD but didn't sign until two days AFTER ... Couldn't find a fax or a pen? ... You are full of ****, Georgie.
  11. If I was UCF I'd be careful crying foul when there are foxes in your own hen house. The method of coercion allegedly used by UCF to lure this kid was hardly quality, nevermind the incessant allegations that UCF has never stopped the dirty tactics in recruiting that got their hand slapped the first time by the NCAA. Yeah, from what I hear the last thing UCF wants to do is get the NCAA down here sniffing around their compound-- never know what they're going to dig up. if you read the recent quotes from Oleary on Smith's last visit just 2 weeks ago he admitted that "there is a lot of stuff going on up there"(Louisville)..........I know you and Louisville fans will keep using the resume thing from over 10 years ago to assume Oleary did something wrong but it's most likely a case where he was still being recruited after his LOI and possible involvement by Louisville boosters. I hope the NCAA is sniffing up in Kentucky. Coach Kelly is a good man and would not spew lies You're right, the resume thing shouldn't come into play at all with this ... but the fact there were reports that things were said to Smith during recruiting that were possibly misconstrued by him, giving him hopes of competing for the starting job, do factor in.
  12. I wish the Courier writer would have been a little more clear about verifying the fax was authentic but it sure looks like it's the real deal this time ... Smith said in a phone conversation with The Courier-Journal that he would not comment further. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20110328/SPORTS02/303280103/1002/sports/Former-Seneca-QB-DaMarcus-Smith-asks-released-by-UCF?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Sports
  13. Will you please pay attention for once in your life .... The lame duck status is only in some people's minds. He is signed through 2015.
  14. I think Brandon was my first introduction to UCF fan many many many moons ago over on the ESPN message boards. I was an Internet message board virgin, just getting my feet wet on the USF board there (even before finding this place) and was bombarded with the whining and moaning about not playing them ... I honestly had to look up UCF because I had no ******* clue who they really were. The only connection I had back then was that Marquette Smith, a pretty big time hs player, transferred there from FSU, my previous team of choice ... and the whining, in one form or another, hasn't stopped since.
  15. how has it been settled? I haven't seen anything I said it seemed settled. I was referring to him staying at UCF. Triple, Godfrey had a good season and despite Smith's height advantage it may be difficult to supplant Godfrey. Godfrey had a **** good season ...It wasn't so much the height but the combination height/weight ...He just looked kind of fragile out there, but could be deceiving ... he is going against CUSA "defenses", though, so it's probably not a big deal.
  16. It will probably be somewhat of a story until Smith himself issues a statement or some more time passes ...
  17. If indeed he does stay at UCF, the rationale could be comparing 5'11"/167 to 6'3"/185 ...
  18. No quotes in there from Smith himself ... That will put it to rest.
  19. The Courier writers were uninformed and put Godfrey's name in there when it's actually Calabrese switching positions, whether they did it on purpose for a spin job for their delusional fanbase who knows. UCF's beat writer Iliania Limon: UCF coach George O’Leary clearly said in the interview posted above Jeff Godfrey is the Knights’ starter and had the advantage going into a quarterback battle with DaMarcus Smith and Blake Bortles, but the players would be given a chance to compete. I double checked with UCF today, I can tell you Godfrey absolutely is not changing positions next season. Smith was never told Godfrey was changing positions. Smith was referring to Rob Calabrese’s move to receiver. The reporter inserted the wrong quarterback’s name into the quote. – Iliana http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college_ucf/2011/02/ucf-coach-george-oleary-talks-about-newest-recruits-handling-quarterback-competition.html#comments Calabrese is a great quarterback now?? .... I agree that Godfrey changing positions doesn't make much sense but it will be interesting to see if the L'ville writers come back with something ..... and Smith is still full of **** about Bridgewater not being the reason he changed his mind. Also, Calabrese is going to play at the next level? AFL2?

  21. Dare I say it .... Chalk up another moral victory for the Kaniggits. That's a victory...hands down! Almost getting the kid and almost getting a higher ranked recruiting class than half the Big East and USF would be moral victory. Actually...it'd suck. So it'd be a los...hands down! God love ya, Goldie .... Only you, and a handful of your delusional, obsessed brethren, would consider this some sort of a quantifiable competition .....
