  1. This reminds me of all the people who ripped Genshaft's and LRS's hiring.

Sad how you feel it necessary to rip the man w/o hearing what he has to say. Let's face it,  nobody knows anything about any of the candidates and we won't know anything until he has been on the job for a couple of years.

In the meantime all the premature complaining and ******** just makes us look smalltime. Once again, did you really expect Tom Delany or Roy Kramer to apply for this job?

This was a solid hire for many reasons.

  2. Making people register for the board, while more time consuming to pests, will not end the problem entirely. There are services available that allow you to create a temporary e-mail account on the fly so that you can get that initial e-mail and finish your registration process.

You want them to stop? Don't respond to anything you fell is complete horsecrap. I would guess 90% or more of these posts are put here solely to get a rise out of someone.

While I hate to add to this ridiculous post, I felt the need to throw in my two cents. Feel free to ignore my comments and let this piece of dog crap fall off the main board.

If there were any feature I would like to see available on a message board-- it would be the ability to ignore the posts of certain users when you want to do so. Too often I see someone dredge up some topic that is a week old or older float to the top because someone wanted to say something briliant like "I agree" or "way to go USF". That's my peeve-- maybe it's yours as well. But I don't see much we can do about that type of wasteful posting. I doubt the people doing this realize that we don't know if something useful was actually posted on that thread prior to them giving it the old "atta boy". So we open them and ugghh-- nothing but crap to read. I realize that may have offended some of our posters who do this non-stop. But is a high post count really meaningful if you are not adding one iota of thought to the process?

    "Atta boy Mike....I agree"

Seriously, ignoring works to a certain degree but if the board runs into blatant attempt to flame then the mods  should delete the post. Otherwise why have moderators?

  3. Even though we might not like what dude up there has to say let him say it and we'll respond in kind, lets not become one of those boards, JMHO

It has nothing to do with not about reading things we don't like.  It's about having to wade through 10 posts worth of crap to reading something worthwhile. If the board is allowed to become a garbage dump for obsessed UCFers then at some point it's going to stop being a place where it's worth our time to continue to read on a regular basis.

There is a difference between having an unpopular opinion and posting crap like the this moron.  This is a board for USF fans. That is the purpose of this of this board.

Ignoring these idiots doesn't solve the problem of legitimate threads scrolling off the first page. We shouldn't have to wade through the growing number of stupid threads like this to find intelligent USF related discussion.

jfcohio: even if the First Amendment did apply on a private message board (which it doesn't) this would be akin to yelling "Fire" in a crowed movie theater. Not all speech is protected.

This is Brad's board and it is up to him to decide what can or can't be posted.  Furthermore it's not about censoring ideas. Do you really think this guy has any interest in "discussing the other side of the issue"? Posts like this should be either moved to a smack board or just outright deleted, especially when it comes from a "guest".

Fortunately, the solution is simple: ban guest posting privileges. Alternatively, have post like this deleted or moved to the appropriate board.

I guess the underlying question is whether the board is here to serve legitimate USF fans or to protect the smack privileges of dim-witted and obsessed UCFers? IMO, if I am speaking up there are at least a few more like me that are also getting tired of the crap.

  4. Hmm... this sounds oddly familiar, somehow.

If you are referring to Paul Griffin there are not many similarities.

    1. Griffin was directly involved in the situation that forced the new administration to act.

    2. Griffin was respected in the community but not necessarily well liked. His personality did not mesh well with the job of being a spokesman for the athletic program. The department is in dire need of a salesman.

    3. Griffin's fundraising abilities were mediocre at best. It was LRS who raised the money for the new athletic facilities and it was under LRS's watch that the University made a serious committment to athletics.

    4. The athletic facility was supposed to be built by 2001 but we had hardly even raised $2million during Griffin's last days, for what was then a $6-million dollar project.

With that said, Griffin's strength was in his long term vision and master plan for the athletics program.  With LRS we never heard a vision for the future that tied in with specific goals.

The department needs someone who can sell the program to the region but just as importantly someone who can give us tangible goals to work toward.

  5. at the mouth over this list?

does your heart go pita pata?

    or was this anticlimactic?

does this list meet or exceed your expectations?

    or does it underwhelm you?

i expected some big 12 or big 10 AD ( or some heir apparent at a one tier BCS schoo) looking for a challenge would throw a hat in the ring. instead you have a bunch of boys trying to move up to the big chair, IMO

How many fans were excited when we hired Jim Leavitt? He like all the AD finalists have solid credentials and are from major programs.

  6. It's funny to see a kid's real 40-times come out. Remember when Brewer and Callum were touted as legit 4.5 guys?

All you have to do is watch the action on the field. People with legit 4.5 times don't get caught from behind very often and explains why Callum never seemed to break the big runs his press clippings suggested he should do on a regular basis.

With that said, those times are really slow. Perhaps both Brewer and Callum were hurt. I would hate to think they could be outrun by some of our defensive linemen.

  7. Hi, are you a college coach that has totally screwed up?  Have you been forced out of a position because you are some sort of social misfit?  Does the sports world laugh at the mention of your name?

Well, here at C-USA, you are welcome.  We could care less that the world considers us to be the halfway house for dumbasses, we just believe that liars, gamblers, drunks, and sexaholics deserve a chance.  Don't believe me?  Just ask folks like Larry Eustachy or George O'Leary.

Here at C-USA, we'll always have a home for misfits.  I should know, I'm not just a member, I'm the president.

  8. I think Verpaele has a decent chance to sign as a FA.

Unless he changed his mind recently, Verpaele is done with football and not even in football shape to workout for scouts. My understanding is that he is already employed as a high school teacher in Merrit Island.

  9. how is he to pay?

    he is in college

    the timing is BS.

i agree he is responsible and should not have not let it get out of hand.

    but ruining

    his career  isn't smart either.

coaching staffs need a lawyer on staff in this day in age.

the staff knows about the kids so if fiqures they know about payments or no payments.

    the timing distress me

Better now than in the middle of the season. For a player of Fisher's experience he doesn't need Spring Ball to get any better.  What he does need is a swift kick in the ass for not taking care of his responsibilities.

  10. Yes. The guy had a wicked curveball.

The man had over 280 wins, 3700+ sktrikeouts, almost 300 complete games and an ERA around 3.00.

These are legit numbers while playing on some terrible Angels and Twins teams.

In my mind he belongs in the HOF more than Don Sutton, who benefited from all those talented Dodger teams of the 1970s.

  11. What cyber?? These are well known facts and of course a real baseball fan is going to know about every teams strengths and weaknesses ecspecially their division rivals and hated enemy.  Sox will win the series this year.

Pitching? Who needs pitching when you can score 12 runs a game?

Seriously, the Yankees need a lefty to balance out the rotation. Considering what has transpired over the last 3 months do your really think the Yankees are going to have a hard time buying a pitcher before Opening Day, and some more help before the All Star game? When your payroll balloons to nearly a quarter of a BILLION dollars what's another $10 million for a number 4 or 5 starter?

Don't fret, your RedSox can still make it as a wild card team. Have a ball!

  12. what losers

they couldn't get the deal done is six weeks and yanks open spring training with AROD.

Yankees are hardly the evil empire. they win they go to win.they are the good guys

this will screw with bosox psyche, they will start the season slow and never recover

the yankees lineup may be best on paper ever

have no fear bosox it gets worse.

nomar will leave bosox after season to yankees second baseman in 2005

Easy on those bosox fans, they are still dealing with the curse of the bambino and Bucky Phuckin Dent's home run over the Green Monster.
