He has probably been assigned to start covering FSU stuff. Reporters have bosses who tell them what 2 cover.
No. He's retweeting FSU coverage by a writer from his own paper - Baker. His editor is not telling him to double what's already being done by a writer at his own publication.

And just like clockwork we get an article about the attendance for the spring game....
I don't know what to say. Of the dozens of possible topics to close spring, that's what he chooses? It's unbelievable.

Dave, about 90% on this board support your position. I am more in the 10% as I give Joey more than a benefit of a doubt and believe he is following the orders of his editor. But that does not mean you don’t make some fair points against Joey. Hopefully you will feel free to continue in giving your position.
NewEngland: I get it. It's not personal. I just think that his twitter handle TBTimes_Bulls needs to change at this point if he's not going to be dedicated to USF-related coverage. When four of the first seven tweets in his feed are FSU related, it doesn't fit. He's not writing for an FSU audience, is he?

Believe me, it was not my intention to create a firestorm. I hit TBTimes_Bulls twitter for the first time in days - one day after our spring game - looking for some new USF info and instead found retweets about FSU's spring game attendance, their love/excitement for the start of the Taggart era and a link to a story about their QB situation. It rubbed me wrong, assuming that I was going to find some insight into USF's weekend. For some reason I thought I'd find a friendly home here to vent a little. I was wrong and probably should have just kept it to myself. I've learned.

Brad, just go ahead and delete my post. He's probably right that I shouldn't criticize someone who's just trying to feed his family. No reason I should question how he does his job. It's up to his editor to decide whether or not he's adequately fulfilling his job duties. I guess I just expect my beat writer, whose twitter handle ends in "bulls" to be focused solely on USF news. My mistake.

When did Baker switch from UF?
And the blind statement is in reference to why TBT would be covering Tags at FSU and not Holtz at La Tech. You can’t be dense enough to not see the difference in the TBT’s view point.
I'm dense, too? This kind of stuff is why I've left this forum at least twice in the past. And if anyone is dense, it's probably you for not recognizing the sarcasm in my initial comment - especially dense if I need to explain it to you.

It’s definitely a WT/larger local audience thing. He’s also just going to where he is told to do so by his editors. If you can’t see the difference between WT at FSU and SH at LA tech you’re blind. That said, I think Joey has probably earned himself a promotion (just or not) to the FSU beat this summer. Between his connections to Taggart's staff from his time here and much to the surprise of those on this board he is also one of the times too college beat writers. Call it a gut feeling...
I'm blind? According to his Twitter feed, Matt Baker covers FSU for the Times. So why would FSU fans be looking at Joey Knight's feed for FSU reporting?

Funny, I'm not seeing any Jimbo Fisher/Texas A&M tweets on the FSU feed?

. . . reposting all these FSU-related tweets? And don't tell me it's a Willie Taggart thing. If so, where are all the Louisiana Tech retweets?

Fantastic bounce back on the road!

McClanahan has gotten plenty of hype, but aside from the opener vs. UNC he's struggled against decent teams. He hasn't produced like our usual Friday starter. We've had a lot of good ones. He isn't pitching like one of them.

Recruit all football players named Mack and all basketball players named Collins. That is all.

No, he wasn't removed. He finished out at USF.
Pretty sure he left the team during the season

Wasn't Chad Dollar dismissed from the USF basketball team during his playing days? I could be wrong, but that's my memory.

Not good examples used with the UMBC 16 beats 1 and UCF "national championship" - of course your social media presence is going to get a boost when something like that happens.

Martin was a big guy that couldn't/wouldn't rebound or defend.
-
The Holston and Martin losses are of no consequence on the court. Gregory will replace them with better players. This thing finally looks like it could be headed in the right direction.

They lost me with "country music cover band" :-)

Buffalo wasn't properly seeded. Big school bias lives in the committee.

They get rewarded for a 26-win season with a bus ride to Tally in the same region as UConn as a 6 seed. What a job by committee. Well, gotta keep earning respect.

it's a .500 team

Just have to remember that "this team" we're seeing ending the season is going to look a lot different going into next year ... with the biggest hole at the 5, and I never thought I'd ever be saying that about losing Manderson. Our returning "bigs" will be Scekic and Martin, and Martin's a lot better suited at F. Hopefully Scekic has an epiphany like Manderson had .... he's been pretty disappointing after the build up. Durr's going to need to hit the court running to have any hope of your doable .500
Still think they need to add a JUCO grinder for next year - a mature guy who will throw his weight around, defend and rebound (the role Ron Anderson played so well on the NCAA team). No one on the roster fits that role and it's needed if they're going to take another step forward.

From now on, I'd only recruit kids named Collins.
