  1. yes, we go to baseball games as well, not much of an atmosphere over there, we need some real loud people there to help make it loud.  economics_nerd, you were to the left of me, i remember turning around and seeing that chant being started a few times.  i'm the kid with the sleeveless bullies shirt, whos always going nuts on the big screen, its really not hard to miss me.  and no TexanMark, not if the syracuse fan was provoking first. Ok so an opposing fan (totally outnumbered) starts crap first? Okay, well he had ballz then and should be congratulated for hangin with you guys all game. ;D Do they sell beer at the Sun Dome? I remember some skirmishes starting at the end of the CUse FB game in November--fueled by alcohol.
  2. I was behind you guys and my roomate pointed out that the cop was being a real a-hole.  It didn't look or sound like you were doing anything wrong, but some cops are just like that. Well if he was verbally ripping into opposing fans--don't you find that provoking a situation? Sounds like the USF fan was a jerk, too.
  3. I thought your concession prices were high--I just found the link for Syracuse's prices--you guys are pretty much 50-60% higher across the board. http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/guide/
  4. Turn your speakers on http://www.syracuse.com/slideshows/061113_USF.ssf
  5. Nice win--Buffalo is a decent MAC team Keep it up and some of youse guys will be doing Spring Break in NYC http://syracuse.scout.com/3/BETGuide.html
  6. I was running the tailgate (Rental PT Cruiser) a few cars over toward Dale Mabry--we were the car closest to the lane.  I meet a poster on this board called "RockydaBull".  It was probably us yelling about basketball--this football downfall has been killin us...the ride back up will be sweet though...just hopefully by 2008.  Here is the link for the Tiki Bar--the guys are hand making these things--you can drive to Orlando and pick it up http://www.mobiletikibar.com/
  7. I actually took in a game back in 2002 at the Citrus Bowl--the UCF fans were generally decent but I did meet alot of them with "chips on their shoulders" and a few were down right rude. From my perspective adding UCF as a 9th FB only member allows: 1. an even home and home schedule 2. Gives you USF an instant arch rival 3. Gives the northern BE teams the chance to play in Florida every season 4. Gives the northern teams more exposure to recruits in Florida 5. Helps USF travel expenses with more away games in FL 6. Allows the northern teams non revenue sports more twofer visits to FL. 7. Adds the Orlando/Space Coast/Daytona area to our TV Market/syndication package and increases the Big East brand name in Florida I understand USF would feel they are putting UCF on an equal footing and most of you would be opposed.
  8. Yeup... me too. Not sure why: Here is my post USF Trip Report Everything but the game result was great. What a great place to have a November game. Dr. Gross needs to get this as a November trip every year. Make it Veterans’ Day Weekend every even year and I’ll be a happy camper. There are a ton of motels (Comfort Inn and Howard Johnson are both within a ¾ mile walk to the stadium) and food nearbyâ€â€the stadium is super close to the airport. You could actually fly into the game and survive a weekend without a car if you didn’t plan to sightsee. Tailgating was UConn like with lots of large parking lots surrounding the stadium. Parking was $10 and if you arrived 3 hours before kickoff you got a real nice location with little competition. I arrived at 9am and set up next to the western most pedestrian walkway in Lot 7. I found out most of Lot 7 is permit only but by arriving early and going through Lot 9’s gate they direct you to the back half of Lot 7. The crowd was slow arriving and we had only 50 or so cars around us for the first 45 minutes. My understanding is the hardcore USF tailgaters go to special private lots and the permit only areas. I would recommend going to the same vicinity (Lot 7 or 9) in 2008. The lots had plenty of garbage cans, porta potties and such. A ton of Cuse fans were in our area. The Tikibar Cuse fans were there. They are legit Cuse fans and their Tiki Bar was a neat tailgating piece of equipment. We ran into a group of guys/ladies wearing SU Hawaiian shirts and I’m investigating to get some bought wholesale to sell to board members. Our tailgate was fairly small: my son Mike, storange and his Cuse buddy Terry and family, subarney and cuseguy (storange finally got their names memorized lol with someone’s help), Ray in VA and his lovely wife Carol, KingOtto III, sutomcat, his brother and duebs (who posts more at Rivals) along with a handful of board lurkers who wandered by. We also mixed with the several other Cuse tailgates within 50 yards of our location. Our food was lacking but beer was plentiful. The Suntan Lotion call was spot onâ€â€several people burned who didn’t heed the advice. The RV with Turkey Fryer, The Tan Minivan with FireGRob was not there...his typical no show BS... a strange man. Fifteen minutes prior to kickoff we walked to the stadium (about 400 yards) with a ton of Cuse fans. The stadium is typical nouveau NFLâ€â€lots of amenities (escalators, chairback seats, drink cup holders) and top shelf but grossly high prices for food and drinks. IIRC: Fries were almost $5, Sodas were $4 to $6, and hot dog $4, etc…they did serve beer a plus despite the $6+ price tag. The biggest issue I see: USF is considered a tenant and very few clues you were at a Bulls game vs. a Bucs game. Every USF fan I talked to agreed they need an on campus arena to help develop a college feel and more hard core fans. Life in Florida for USF means most of your fans are more interested or at least as interested in seeing UF or FSU play. UCF is very smart to build a stadium on campus. I would support UCF as a 9th FB only member. A trip every year to FL, yeah baby! The stadium crowd was announced at 29k+--it felt about right. They scanned your ticket at the gate so it might of been actual not sold. I sat behind the Cuse bench and from what I could tell we had probably 4,000 fans there. Most were down in the SW corner but we had fans sprinkled throughout. Being an NFL stadium the video board and sound system were state of the art. The Bulls First Down graphic was pretty cool and all too common, sigh. I never felt we had a chance to winâ€â€our line play (both ways)was horrendous and we gave them 6 yard passes all day long. The crowd was filled with a lot of eye candy, a lot of eye candy. The team following is definitely on the rise. A lot of 20 and 30 somethings were there in attendanceâ€â€obviously their alumni base is younger than ours. At the end of the game I saw a scuffle between a NY Yankees fan and a USF fanâ€â€the Yankee fan was the jerk (not sure who he rooted for but I suspect USF). There were reports that the USF fans were taunting SU fans down n the SW corner of the stadium. I think cuseguy told me that. The postgame tailgate was cynical but we resolved that every one of us were true fans still to the Cuse through thick and thin. Our group was one of the last to leave right before sunset. Overall the USF fans were pretty good…lots of good nature ribbing…not a lot of real drunk a-holes you see at some other venues. I will definitely go back in 2008.
  9. Thought you might like to read what I thought about my visit to USF. http://mb33.scout.com/fsyracuseinsidersfrm7.showMessage?topicID=12985.topic
  10. Yes, and you should never write fiction or satire either..."just the facts mam". I mean what if you said "eat **** and die" and the guy really eats some and dies. Now, wouldnt you feel bad? The guy was saying he wanted Grothe's ankle twisted, I think it definitely deserved a response. As for the "dying" comment, it was obvious that he was exaggerating whereas the ankle bit was serious....come on, didn’t we all go to college, what ever happened to reading comprehension? Yup you got me Whatever BTW, just leaked out of the SU Football office It was suggested by an internet fan
  11. Yes TIC=Tongue in Cheek The comment was made by one fan--not sure how it would incite someone to intentional injury your QB? If Grothe gets hurt--Chip would not look more foolish You guys are reading way too much into this and making a mountain out of a mole hill. This is not exactly locker room material. Of course reading some of your fans on this board the game will be over in the 1st quarter regardless who plays QB.
  12. Way over the Top What part of TIC don't you understand? Sorry, TexanMark, but that was a totally different thread on your board than the TIC one! Nice try though. :  Maybe you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills.  No reread it--the whole thread is TIC You know you can actually have two TIC threads in the same day Recheck your TIC Meter......
  13. The slightly TIC version Done weekly on the Cuse board http://mb33.scout.com/fsyracuseinsidersfrm7.showMessage?topicID=12724.topic
  14. Thanks for the info--we'll setup in Lot 7 then. Looking forward to the visit.
  15. Thanks for the offer and I'll swing by and say hello--Several of us (Cuse fans) are planning to set up and do a tailgate...is Lot Five open for visiting fans or just special permit holders?  We plan to be there at 9 am...Do the gates normally open any earlier? I wrote this guide summer 2005 and I hope to check out USF and make improvements to it after seeing the place first hand.  http://syracuse.scout.com/3/BETailgateGuide.html Lot 5 is special permit only. Lot 7 is the closest general parking lot. Thanks for the info, a couple more questions--Is it $10 this year to park? and do they open at 9 am sharp or can you get there a little earlier? BTW, a plug for your internet message board on our board http://mb33.scout.com/fsyracuseinsidersfrm7.showMessage?topicID=12685.topic
  16. You should--What I heard is Syracuse soldout its alottment of tickets. I actually bought 7 tix in a USF section.

  18. Is Lot 5 General Admission parking? if not is it just Lots 1-4 that are General Admission?
  19. Cuse fan here--I expect 3-5,000 Cuse supporters at the USF game--should help push attendance higher...however it is a 3 day weekend--does that hurt USF student attendance?
  20. So there is still free parking in the old Mall parking lot? If there is I'll put a caveat that it is mostly college students.
  21. Everyone--thx for the feedback So to sum it up there is no more free parking at the old Mall--I'll delete it. Any other tips to make your experience better---like best lot for tailgating, etc...
  22. Don't BULLieve so ... and how many are you expecting to have total ? I'm actually doing research for my visitors' guide--it is for other BE fans. Appreciate help with the two remaining questions 3. Did the old Tampa Bay Center Mall get torn down? is their still parking/tailgating over in that area? I guess that used to be free and people would tailgate in the Mall parking lot. 4. Is Hillsborough Community College a viable option for parking
  23. I'm updating my tailgating/Visitors guide to usf. http://syracuse.scout.com/3/BETailgateGuide.html A couple questions: 1. Does the lots at RayJay open only 3 hours before kickoff? or is it really earlier 2. Where can RVs park overnight? 3. Did the old Tampa Bay Center Mall get torn down? is their still parking/tailgating over inn that area? 4. Is Hillsborough Community College a viable option for parking 5. Any other parking/talgating tips would be appreciated. Thanks On a personal note: looking forward to visiting in November. I heard Syracuse already soldout its allotment of tickets--in fact I'll be sitting with you guys in 139
