Oh yes we are! This isn't some freedom-of-speech quashing, dictatorial, Jack Dorsey ban-with-reckless-abandon those with whom we disagree sort of cyber saloon.  We have a rich and storied history of not only suffering but enabling the terminal tear squirters! Whining is what made this country, and to an even greater degree, this board safe harbor for the sensitive snivelers and malcontents.  Finding fault with every single, solitary thing USF does, or attempts to do, is a lifestyle to be celebrated! So, snot your little nose and get back in there. Those posts aren't going to "like" themselves, sweetheart! 😎

Anyone remember the era of the "3 wise men?" One poster under 3 handles just riling everyone up during some of the Leavitt years.

Taggart's awesome recruiting maintained hope that the program did have a future after his first two years, but CJS can't seem to generate any sort of success to look forward to.

Taggart's best class was his first, with Mack, Johnson, Flowers et al. They got worse from there.

I contend that Taggart's last class, which had ton of attrition, kicked off our lack of depth spiral. Strong's lack of recruiting solidified this.

    CORRECTIONJeff Scott buyout at USF

The buy out in your article is described in the contract that's subject to public record via our athletics department. Charlie Strong's negotiated buy-out was a little over $3M. It's highly probable that the remaining amount of Scott's buy-out is detailed in a contract with the USF Foundation. This fundraising arm is a direct service organization to USF, but it is not subject to the Fl public records law. I speculate that Scott's buyout is also in the millions range.

  4. Our W/L record under Scott has been poor, no doubt. I'm not sure I see enough positives in Scott's game management beyond some better play calling from his coordinators. Our lack of defense I chalk up to still having subpart depth. That still falls on Scott in year 3.

I wanted him to succeed here. I'm not seeing enough to merit retaining him for a 4th year. I'm also not certain of anyone else out there capable to righting this USF FB ship.

My biggest concern here is that both were taking snaps with the starters. What happens if GB gets injured? Who’s next? I’m very concerned that the coaches didn’t handle this well at all. When you look at the media days , Timmy was all for it. Whatever makes the team better. Now this? This is a head scratcher. Why the hell didn’t he bail when Caden Fortin was announced starter last year? Weird stuff man.

We speculate Timmy was ok with it, based on his responses at media days. His transfer indicates otherwise.

I'm ok with Marsh and Brown as backups. We can also tap into the transfer portal to bring someone else in with a little more experience. I'm curious where McClain winds up. I wish nothing but the best for him.

It can if it serves a business purpose.  It's a membership - like a membership in a country club.  It's a gray area, to be sure.

However, if a business wanted to use an athlete for promotion (which is allowed under NIL), advertising/marketing expenses are deductible.

Fowler Ave's Q&A acknowledges the membership money gray area and flat out indicates that membership is not tax deductible as Fowler Ave is not set up as a nonprofit.

For profit businesses can deduct certain business expenses.

Yes, things like depreciation, business losses, etc., things related to the for profit business. For profit businesses are not in the donation business. Monies provided the Fowler Avenue "collective" cannot be claimed as a donation, like it can to the Bulls Club.

I'd have to see how the collective rules work but could a business buy a membership to have a player advertise their products? Would be deductible then.

I'm not a tax expert, but a typical business is not set up as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Back on the USF, NIL, priorities and the Fowler Avenue entity, they are actively seeking money from Publix, Outback, Hooters, Jabil and other companies.  Going after funding from what I would think are the very same organizations the Bulls Club is working.

One key difference is that a portion of donations to the Bulls Club are tax deductible, since it's a nonprofit. Money provided to Fowler Avenue cannot be claimed as tax deductible in the same way. The Bulls Club retains that advantage.
