Hire her top asst on the cheap, use the savings for FB and MBB coaching extensions.

This is how I prefer to see how successful coaches leaving are handled. It works sometimes but sometimes it doesn’t but at least it saves time & money. If this strategy doesn’t work out then they can always open up a national search. I believe baseball tried to do that after Kingston left.

    That's not good...

    ....That's not great....

    ...... That is ELITE!!!

Heck yeah! This reminds me of the USF Bar Crawl coming up in Ybor in August. Basically CAAR got on the mic & stole the show when he said that USF is going to become elite. At the time I believe many of us are just thinking that here is another new coach talking the hype kind of like CJS did at those rallies. Now after his 1st season he pretty much has the fan base sold so I’m looking forward to the next USF Alumni Bar Crawl!

Two ways of looking at that. One is your way. The other is that Nick was pizzed off that what he had been doing for years illegally was made legal and allowed the playing field to even out.

Yes I agree that I noticed programs like Bama were the ones that seemed to be against the NIL. Now that I see how much that it has been hurting schools like UF and others in the so called P2 I can see why. Basically those power schools are going to eventually beat each other up on this which is good for schools like USF. As of right now, USF is on the outside looking in so I welcome as much chaos as possible so that the power conference basically fall apart due  to in-fighting. Then USF will be able to jump right in whenever they realize that they need to restructure.

With all due respect for the last season of football and basketball, we are nowhere near out of the woods or even a relevant program. Let’s let these gents continue their mission before we get to giddy and re-write history.

On a more serious note, this is a good thing about TBP. Unlike Twitter/X silly or outdated posts can’t be removed by the owner, they got to live with it.  Restate, Eat some crow, etc.  Helps develop good all around community posts.

Lol we probably won’t see NovaBull back anytime soon as long as USF continues to win.

Although not specifically spelled out, the extensions were basically because of the circumstances surrounding Covid so I’m not sure I see it as a management style per se …. unless you’re referring to the way he handled the pandemic unlike others. No C-19, no “continuity” extensions.

Anyway we can change the title of this thread?

So now that Kelly has fired Coach Mohl, his managing style is becoming more apparent. He extended everybody knowing he would likely fire many of them before seeing the ends of those contracts. It doesn't seem to play a role in his decision making going forward. Just wants the appearance of continuity.

So paying Brian Gregory $400k for the next 2 years or Mohl or Jeff Scott. On one hand, it appears foolish. But if that lost money is built into your cost of doing business, takes a lot of the pressure off.

If the donors/school have given Kelly that leeway, makes the extensions make much more sense.

Kelly appears to have made 4 good hires (Erik Jenkins - Track, Alex Golesh, Shepardson-Volleyball, Amir Abdur Rahim) and 1 bad one (Jeff Scott).

All 14 head coaches under contract through at least 2023.

It is good to see MK weather the storm and now seems to have USF moving forward. USF just lost a great women’s golf course to UGA so hopefully they hire someone that can continue the momentum.

I would think if the SEC has two footholds in UF and possibly FSU, the B1G may want to have two as well.

Makes it more ideal for travel & recruiting to have at least two Florida schools. They might as well grab two Texas schools while they are at it. Eventually everyone is going to awaken & say how in the heck did we get here!talking heads GIF
