  1. Are you guys watching the same games? He got pulled against UCF for giving a 10 yard cushion on a 3rd and 4. This past weekend he made one good tackle on the swing pass. Other than that he did nothing. He got completely juked out of his cleats and went for the woman arm tackle. This guy is just bad this year. I hate to tell everyone this. I hope he turns it around but right now, he's not the same guy from last year.
  2. Still has proved nothing this season. The only thing he has showed is that he can't tackle, and can't guard against the long ball. Once again this past weekend, he tried to make a weak arm tackle and the guy blew right past him.

  4. What an ass, people should just keep calling this guy.
  5. to the press conference today? Anything of interest come from Leavitt or Grothe?
  6. "Oh No, we suck again, maybe the USF people were right, this isn't a rivarly."
  7. I couldn't agree more on that comment. They need some major work fast.
  8. Obviously I'm thrilled with the outcome of the game but I'm still not satisfied with the play of certain players on the team. First to come to mind, long snapper and punter. Granted the punter should never have dropped it, the snap was still low to the ground, who ever this guy is, he needs to get his snaps up. The punter needs to learn to just fall on the ball, don't try and create something. Our corners. Trae Williams had two picks on two horribly thrown balls and I'm really disappointed in the play of Mike Jenkins this year. It was 3rd and 4 or five and Jenkins gave their wide out a 10-12 yard cushion, anybody on this board can throw and 5 yard out pattern when the CB isn't near you. If the UCF QB made better throws that game would be have been ugly real quick, they had Jenkins beat on every play. He needs to step it up. I thought we were supposed to be good against the run defense? The first half they were running at will on us. Hopefully the adjustments we made at half time become a permanent adjustment. Still not happy with some of the play calling on offense. I liked the five wide out look and let Grothe pick the defense apart but these QB draws have to stop, they are going to get t his kid killed. Positive notes: Grothe did some real good things, nice to see Amari Jackson get back into the offense again. Defense was huge down the stretch. All in all, a great game, glad to have been there for it.
  9. I agree with you, there was an interesting debate going on about WVU and him picking them to play Auburn in the National Championship game. He also said that the Big East has a better record then most other conferences right now.
  10. has turned into a Big East chat. USF hasn't been mentioned yet but talking up Big East football. Craig James is a big fan of the Big East.
  11. On whether USF is required to play UCF … “You will have to ask Doug (USF Athletic Director Doug Woolard) that. I don’t know all of the administration details about all of those things. He just talks to me about scheduling and those things. But we scheduled them for four years. I don’t think we scheduled them for four years in the State of Florida.†What does that mean? We playing somewhere else or something, didn't schedule them four years in the state of Florida?
  12. George O'Leary Press Conference Quotes - Sept. 12 Golden Knights host USF on Saturday. Head coach George O'Leary and the Golden Knights host USF this Saturday at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Sept. 12, 2006 ORLANDO - UCF head football coach George O'Leary met with the media on Tuesday and spoke to reporters about the Golden Knights' contest with cross-state rival USF on Saturday in Orlando. Kickoff at the Florida Citrus Bowl is set for 2:30 p.m. The teams will be meeting for only the second time. The Bulls won the inaugural matchup a year ago in Tampa. Opening statement on the Florida game last Saturday: "I think when you play a game like that I think you learn something and I think the players did. My initial thoughts leaving the game are that we make mistakes and that currently we don't have the athleticism right now in the program to make up for playing a team like Florida. I thought that was the nature of the game from a defensive stand point. Give Florida credit, I thought they had better trackers than we did in space. My second thought was that I was hoping my football team would learn something coming out of a game like that. We have a long way to go as far as the program stands. We have a lot of stairs to climb and I am very realistic about that as far as where the program is. Right now, when we make mistakes, they are catapulted by a lot of other mistakes. We are at the stage in our program where we can't make mistakes and have enough athleticism to make up for them. I thought that we did play the whole game and the players played hard." "They also have to play smart, hard, together and to win. Playing smart is something that we need to grow up in that stage, which was one of our problem areas. Playing together, I thought for the most part they stayed together from a chemistry stand point. Playing to win, I think that I was not happy with some of the things we were doing form an offensive or defensive stand point. Again there are two ways to look at the game, you can sit and complain all week about it or come in make your corrections and assessments and go from there. That is what I have done, I told the players that I am disappointed in some of the output as far as production, but again the lesson learned is that we have a lot of work to get done and maybe some of our better players will be able to wake up as far as where they are. I think that you are always judged on how you played your last game, so we have a lot of work to get done this week." On playing USF: "As far as USF is concerned it is a game that I think is a natural game for both schools. Mainly because I think that is difficult to get a 12th game that matters. Today, everything matters for marketing, television ratings, fan support and fan enthusiasm. I have made it very clear in my approach philosophy wise, I would like to play at least two teams from Florida each and every year. I think that it helps our program and helps our fan base because I think that if you beat teams from Florida, you are saying something about your program nationally. You can only get better by playing speed teams; I have always been a believer in that. Hopefully, this game can continue, USF is 2-0 and we are looking forward to the game, and I hope they are, too." "I am always anxious playing out of conference teams and teams from the state of Florida. Any time when you play good competition, you help to build your program. Where do we have to get to so that we can be competitive?" Are your players able to stay confident and focused going into the USF game? "I think that players forget very quickly, coaches don't. I try to tell the players that when you loss you die a little and if you are not dying a little then you did not put enough effort and a commitment into that game. I addressed the players that we need to get to these stages, we are not there yet. It was a wakeup call for some kids that thought they were, I did not have to say it, it was very obvious. Coaches usually take longer to get over it because you are looking for where are you able to help the kids more. Basically, we got to keep recruiting talented athletes and that is what we are going to do. Can you compare USF from last year based on their first two games this year? "They are very similar on defense, very aggressive and well coached. Offensively, they put in that redshirt freshmen in [Matt] Grothe and he did a really nice job for them. He did not make too many mistakes and threw only one pick. Basically he made plays when he had to make them." Defensively what needs to happen so that your team can continue to improve? "We need to be a lot more aware of what is in front of us, communication wise. That is what I was concerned about this past game; I did not hear any communication between players on schemes. On Defense you have to communicate and let everybody know what is going on, which tells me that they know what is going on. Kids either do not communicate for two reasons, either they do not know or they don't care. I hope it is that they don't know because if they don't care then they shouldn't be out there. I have been all over the defense about their communication skills and talking on the field by letting teammates know what is going on. This is an area that we need to grow in." Are you surprised the running game has struggled the way it has? "They [the UCF offensive line] have experience and we have to get movement at the line of scrimmage, we have too many guys that are not running their feet on blocks. We have been going to people and not through them, which a big reason why the running game has not been effective." http://ucfathletics.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/091206aaa.html
  13. From what I heard the decision on the appeal is going to be announced on Thursday.
  14. MikeG, 100 percent did not come from a UCF fan. I'm just saying what the member of the Bulls Club quoted my friend earlier this afternoon on the phone.
  15. He may have had plenty of leg but you can't hit the post. Not on your first field goal attempt of the year and especially after the way he started last season off.
  16. my buddy called someone in the Bulls Club and they quoted him that we have only sold 1500 tickets so far. If that is accurate, then that is a major dissappointment. UCF brought so many people last year and if we show up with less than at least 3k, it is just pure imbarrassement.
  17. It also said that Thed Watson is now moved up to 2nd team behind Carnes. I thought Carnes was horrible on Sat. night, he had two holding calls back to back and he looks small to be on the offensive line. Anybody else think the same?
  18. SJ now this hernia check will only take a second, turn your head and cough.
  19. I just tried them and they aren't working for me either.
  20. Facility, does this change USF parking situation in the Mall parking lot? Are we still allowed to park in there? anyone know?
  21. Stacey Heintz Resigns As USF Softball Associate Head Coach Courtesy: USF Release: 08/24/2006 Courtesy: USF TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 24, 2006) – After spending 10 seasons with the University of South Florida softball program, Associate Head Coach Stacey Heintz has resigned from her position, effective Sept. 1. “It is with extreme sadness that I must resign from my position with the USF softball team,†Heintz said. “I have loved my time at USF but have made this decision in the best interest of my family so my husband and I can be together and watch our son grow. I have been very fortunate over 10 years to be able to work with so many great people and a terrific group of young women on the USF softball team. I especially thank Ken Eriksen for giving me this opportunity, being a great boss and a true friend. My experience here has been extremely rewarding.†“I really cannot express how key Stacey has been in our ascent in the collegiate softball ranks,†head coach Ken Eriksen said. “From day one in the fall of 1996 until now, she has epitomized exactly what a loyal, competent assistant should be, and so much so that I had no problem in recommending her to be considered Associate Head Coach. More than any of our successes on the field, it has been a pleasure working with someone I deem as one of my closest friends. I wish her, Chris and their son Ethan good luck in all of their future business endeavors and I also look forward to Stacey’s continued advice. USF Softball has become better because of her.†“Stacey Heintz has been an integral part of the USF softball program and our athletic family for the past 10 years,†said Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy, senior associate athletic director. “She is an excellent coach and a dedicated worker. “She has served as a role model and provided leadership to many young women who have played for a very successful softball team here at USF. We will miss her but we appreciate the fact that she is leaving for family reasons.†Heintz is married to former USF baseball standout Chris Heintz, who currently plays with the Minnesota Twins organization. They have a son, Ethan Christopher, who was born on Sept. 3, 2005. The first hire for Eriksen when he was promoted to head coach in 1996, she was an assistant coach for six years before being promoted to associate head coach in 2003. Coming from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she spent two seasons as an assistant coach, Heintz has helped lead the Bulls to nine winning seasons, seven NCAA Regional appearances, including a trip to the Super Regional in 2006. In 2004, Heintz took over an even greater role in coaching the Bulls, as Eriksen was an assistant coach for the USA Olympic Team. She helped lead USF to a 60-14 record, setting a new career-high in victories for the program while leading the team to the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive year.
  22. Hey Doc, is that a Team Plane? If that's the case, McNeese St. 1 USF 0.
  23. TAMPA - University of South Florida WR Amarri Jackson, who was dismissed from Tuesday's practice by Coach Jim Leavitt, missed both practices Wednesday, making his future with the team unknown. "I'm praying for him while he's doing some soul searching," Leavitt said. "In the meantime I'm getting [freshman] Carlton Mitchell ready to play." Leavitt said Jackson had some personal issues and wasn't sure when  or if  Jackson would return. Jackson was dismissed near the end of Tuesday's practice by Leavitt after Jackson was "chirping" to the coaches during the team's sprints. Last year Jackson was USF's second-leading receiver with 22 catches for 242 yards. Against Louisville, he rushed for 63 yards (TDs of 51 and 12 yards), threw an 11-yard TD pass and caught two passes for 75 yards in earning Big East Player of the Week honors. BULLS NAB WR/CB: North Fort Myers WR/CB Quenton Washington (6-0, 170) verbally committed to USF, the Bulls' seventh commitment for 2007. "South Florida got in the first dibs over the summer," North Fort Myers coach James Iandoli said. "Some of the smaller programs were trying to scoop him up. He was a sleeper and blossomed over the summer." Iandoli said Eastern Kentucky was Washington's only other offer. ODDS AND ENDS: Leavitt said he "was not planning" on Santa Monica College DT James Jackson joining the team. Jackson is the ninth player USF signed in February that did not meet academic entrance requirements. … The Pinellas County alumni chapter will hold a preseason tailgate celebration Saturday from 2-6 p.m. at Capogna's Dugout, 1653 Gulf to Bay Blvd. in Clearwater. For information, call (727) 441-4791. … USF's specialist leaders: Taurus Johnson and Trae Williams (kickoff returns), Williams (punt returns), Ilia Petrov (punter), Mike Benzer (place-kicker) and Justin Teachey (kickoffs). http://www.tbo.com/sports/bulls/MGBDSVCHYQE.html
