actually just saw this on NFL.com Lions' Davis taken off field on stretcher NFL.com wire reports ST. LOUIS (Oct. 1, 2006) -- Detroit Lions guard Frank Davis was taken off the field on a truck after he injured his neck on the opening kickoff of the second half in a game against the Rams. Davis was taken to a hospital, but had movement in his arms and legs, Rams spokesman Rick Smith said. Davis was blocking on the return when he went down at about the Detroit 17. He was down for several minutes, during which trainers unscrewed the face mask from his helmet. He was placed on a board, then lifted onto the back of a truck. Players from both teams stood on the field silently, some bending to one knee. Davis, a 6-foot-3, 325-pound undrafted free-agent from South Florida, was signed by the Lions on May 4.
