  1. There are always a couple games that are surprises, so come up with two games that you think will not go as planned and explain why. Here are mine:

    #1: USF beats WVU

I think that the Bulls have it in them to shut down the WVU running attack because thier passing game is weak and no team can afford to be one dimentional against tat B U L L S  D E F E N S E. The USF QB and RB situations should be set by that point and CJL will discover a way to kill Rodriguez' offense. All he has to do is watch how others are stopping ours and apply a heavy dose of Florida speed to Slaton and White.

    #2 USF loses to Rutgers

Rutgers is a better team than we suspect. They are a mature group and many will be looking to make a semi-homecoming and will play thier best game of the year. You can bet we dont get 6 turnovers again.

just my opinion of possible (even if improbable) surprises.

I thought we could do it before Grothe made believers out of many. Go Bulls kick some EER butt!

  2. Louisville coach Bobby Petrino called South Florida linebacker Stephen Nicholas "a nightmare" who has spent the last three seasons torturing whoever happens to be under center for the Cardinals. Nicholas' interception in overtime three years ago sealed an upset victory for the Bulls, and he's currently among the conference leaders in tackles and sacks.

"It seems like we've been playing against him forever," Petrino said.

Best compliment for Nicholas that I have ever read.

  3. This sucks... Jim should've waited until after the season to discipline them. They did not make the police blotter... so what can be so bad that he would need to kick a future NFL lineman off the team. He just cost Thed big time money. No one got shot... no one is dead... run them until they puke every morning. But don't give up on them. This will cost us dearly against the 'Ville.

Not what I expect to hear from The Sheriff.

Really? The only thing not Sheriff like about that post is that it made no mention of ******* the bitches, driving a bad ass car or making some mad money. Oh wait, the Thed money reference was there . . . . .

  4. When you head coach constantly makes excuses/blames officials you cannot expect the players to take responsibility and we have one of the best "excusers" in the business. Of course its a coaching problem.

I think this a lot like Seths free throw problems. He bemoaned them and said they worked hard on improving them and nothing ever happened. CRM came in and they got better. Was that a coaching problem?

  5. Just be happy they didnt organize another Death Squad and put 68 bullets in them. Its thier world and they allow us to live in it, dont rock the boat or they will taser up.

Matt, you are way off topic and way out of line.  I am glad I know where you stand.

Gene, Im glad you know where I stand after that post. To clarify: I stand against any Death Squads and vigalantism (even those organized to catch a killer) and I stand for law and order, liberty and justice and I will stand fervently opposed to those who threaten those whether they are a murdereing crack dealer, a law enforcement agancy or even the President of the United States.

Many years ago I solemnly swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic and that oath did not mean except in cases of blind allegiance to authority.

    Go Bulls!

  6. Ok I will just sob to myself quietly if he gets in again. Why put him in? His career here is over, let Gregory get some snaps to prepare for his future if MG goes down. Putting PJ in there is just a waste.

I almost forgot how that feeling of dread washes over me when he is behind center. After last night I will always remember.

  7. Bs NEED WORK: Following Saturday's morning practice, coach Jim Leavitt said the quarterback position is "inconsistent, but working hard." Leavitt also said senior Pat Julmiste and redshirt freshman Matt Grothe are "all even" in the starting position race and both "need a lot of work."

In what universe are/were and MJ ever "all even?"

  8. Those of you that think that winning will fix things, I disagree. I am afraid winning and more attention could make things worse. People are who they are and just because a guy is great at laying a foundation doesn't mean he can do a great job painting the house. Emotion can only carry you so far. I watched this guys press conference and saw the poise, confidence and character that champions posses.

  9. Minotaur you are a moron.

I heard from another booster that the appeal to go from 6 to 2 will be decided the Thursday before UCF.

I'M THE MORON? Ok genius. Hate it when your own double standard comes to roost? How can you be all for CJL and his handling of the media blackout and then go and ask reporters for answers? If there is a more moronic stance aspoused by anyone othe than Ari or the like I have never seen it. (BTW, I did not start the mname calling)

Maybe the boosters should be holding press conferences. Maybe we should just have questions answered on a $$$ per answer basis.

    Who is the starting QB?

"I see a C-Note in your wallet . . . . feed the Devil and get your answer!"

Now I know why people laugh at message boards. These last two days have made me long to be Howie.

  10. I've thought about it all day and I think I figured it out. The problem is two fold, first he is beseiged by more sycophants than I could ever imagine. I found this one out as I read through the replies to my post. Idiots irritate the **** out of me so I assume its the same for him.

    Secondly: 446045.jpeg

Its the first year he doesn't have someone to work with who has been there since day one. Anyone ever see the 75m.jpg ?

"See, when I was growing up, there was a bully, real mean, but he wasn't the problem. He had a brother. Bigger, meaner, but he wasn't the  problem either. See alone, they were just bullies, not that tough. But toghether, they evil. Real killers"

  11. I love the guy, hell I termed him "The Jim" because there was no Jim better in the history of the world. He has done amazing things at USF and I hope that he stays here as long as he wants.

Having said that I have to say that there is something different about him this year. He is defensive and not the kind of defense that made him rich and famous. He is edgy and to me it seems that there is something really wrong. It may be with the program or with him personally but I am afraid somethng is going to break.

I hope everythings alright, hell it could just be that he has lost some control since DW was hired and he is uncomfortable with that loss and is looking to exert more control over other areas. Hell it could be that he is angry with the way this young team is developing, or he is mad at himself for going with PJ these last few years. In any event, I just wouldn't be surprised if something HUGE happens this year.

    Go Bulls.

Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy.

Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. Leavitt is all good, these guys are all crazy. 13. QB's quick arrival not a moment too soon for USF

By GREG AUMAN, Times Staff Writer

    Published September 7, 2006

TAMPA - It was only a 6-yard pass, not even good for a first down, but the play brought a surprising, resounding cheer from the crowd at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday night.

Even before he had rallied the Bulls to a 41-10 victory against McNeese State, USF fans recognized that Matt Grothe had arrived.

For a football program that has struggled to find a star quarterback since Marquel Blackwell in 2002, the redshirt freshman had represented hope for the future. And after Saturday's debut - with two passing touchdowns, one rushing score and a 6-for-6 second half - he has quickly become USF's present, a new source of excitement since being named the starting quarterback Monday.

"I really didn't think much about it. Just happy," said Grothe, a softspoken 19-year-old with short-cropped black hair, whose aw-shucks calm belies a competitive drive. "I don't think I played as good as everybody said I did. I can definitely get better."

    Great story, thanks Greg.
