  1. Pretty confident for winning one of their last 20. I'm always amazed at how quickly fans become cocky and are so confident that their team won't lose. Saw it with LSU fans before the UGA game and then a week later with UGA fans before UT took care of them. Humility is a virtue.
  2. BINGO! They gave up on the run too soon. Andre Hall is USF's best player. He must touch the ball at least 25 times a game. The toss sweep and the 2 back set were successful, but they never went back to them in the 2nd half. Committing to the run won the TCU game, but I guess the lesson didn't stick with Hobbie and Smith.
  3. The answer is simple. Set up clear expectations for the players and communicate them. Praise and reward them for positive behavior and correct negative behavior. There must be accountability. If a player cannot meet the expectations as set out by the coaches, then take away some playing time. He will eventually correct his mistakes or he won't play anymore.
  4. PJ may or may not be the QB next year - depends on how good the newcomers are.  You have to remember that he ran the Wing T in high school and threw maybe 5 passes a game.  He needs time to develop.  USF missed on all its big time QB recruits over the past 3 years and is now paying the price while a kid who is not quite ready learns on the job.  He will be OK.
  5. I agree - the penalties need to stop, especially from the upperclassmen. If you play freshmen and sophs, you have to expect mistakes, but the seniors should not be committing dumb penalties. Taking away playing time is the way to get the players attention.
  6. I'm thankful for the few people on this board like S. bien who know ANYTHING about football.  It makes me sick to read the idiotic ramblings from the masses on this board criticizing this team.  PJ IS A SOPHOMORE!  He will make mistakes.  He shows a lot of positives and hopefully will continue to develop.  He threw a beautiful deep ball off his back foot with the blitz in his face to SJ Green that was dropped.  Remember, the receivers are young too.  I like what I see - the potential is there and with time they will be good.  HAVE SOME **** PATIENCE. Also, USM's defense isn't too shabby either.
  7. USF must send USM and Bower back to Hattiesburg with the spanking they so richly deserve! Hope his comments haunt him the whole time we are moving on to bigger and better things in the Big East.
  8. If you are referring to the 2 TCU kickoffs out of bounds and the confusion on where to spot the ball - the refs got it right both times. The ball is not automatically spotted at the 35 - the rule reads that it is spotted x yards from the point of kickoff. Because of the Bulls penalty on the first kickoff, the ball was correctly spotted at the 25.
  9. I don't like this either. Don't do things to anger your opponent. I don't want teams to use this as motivation against us in years to come. How fired up will TCU be if we come back to Forth Worth to play again??!!?
  10. The Kobel call was a horrendous call and could have cost USF the game if not for the blocked FG. The other calls seemed legit. The reputation USF is earning with the refs is not helping. Young players make mistakes, and we will likely see a lot of penalties for the next couple of years until the young talent matures. Sure wish CJL could do something to limit penalties, though. It will cost USF a game eventually.
  11. I still say we go 7-4 this year. But PLEASE run the ball more!
  12. Boy, I really hate to agree with smazza, but he is right on the mark with this one. A running game is crucial in keeping the chains moving and in converting TD's when inside the 20. Also, keeps the D fresh and wears out the other team. With the current talent on this team we should pound the running game, play conservative and not turn the ball over and rely on the D.
  13. I fear that your are going to live up to your name this week!
  14. The coaching staff needs to adjust the scheme each year to the personnel - our staff has not. With inexperienced QB's, you shouldn't run a pass-happy spread offense. This team's offensive strenghts are the O-Line and Crossley and Hall. The QB should be under center, we should be establishing the run and then use play action passing.
  15. Bulls must win the battle of special teams and turnovers to win this game.
  16. Jewbull, thanks for the info. What's the story on the athletic auction this weekend?
  17. Anyone know where I can buy an authentic USF football jersey?
  18. I read somewhere that a lot more 2 back sets were used in the spring practice. I hope this carries over to the fall when the RB's will be on campus. I'm hoping that the spread offense was used for the Spring game so as not to tip off Pitt to a change in our offensive scheme. PLEASE???
  19. How can some of y'all be bashing this class before seeing them play?? Who cares if Mobley is 6'5" if he can play. And despite what's been posted here, he won't be facing 6'10" PF's unless he plans on jumping straight to the NBA. Give coach a chance to build this program - it will take some time. The JUCO's are a stop-gap until he can get some freshman talent.
