  1. If it starts with recruiting, can you list the big name recruits that FAU and North Texas had? The fact that you name these schools as doing well and that they are from "lesser" conferences shows that big name recruits are not necessary to be successful.
  2. Both still better than Tchewa, who ranked 1095th in blocks last year.
  3. Flsportsfan83 and Belgianbull, I think your perceptions of the talent in other conferences and speculations of how well teams from other conferences would have done in the AAC are misguided. Please note that USF last year lost to 2 teams from the Ohio Valley Conference, 1 team from the ASUN, 1 team from CUSA, and 1 team from the Atlantic 10. If our conference and our team are so much better than teams in those conferences, why did we lose 5 games to those conferences? If we lost to ASUN talent that lost to the ASUN conference champion, then it is logical to conclude that we can win in this conference with ASUN talent. Too many people put too much emphasis on players' recruiting grades out of high school. While that may have been more relevant decades ago, there is more parity today. This is why we lost to teams in lesser conferences and why we see "upsets" every year. If you look at the USF teams that have gone to the big dance, those rosters had no highly recruited players. Bobby Paschal and Stan Heath got scraps and were able to coach those players to win. Steph Curry was not highly recruited out of high school and did not attend a big name school; look at what he has accomplished. There are many players who mature later than others or who develop later through coaching. I think everyone needs to chill and see how things play out.
  4. Why do you think he won't be? The roster he has so far is far better than any the previous coach had.
  5. Well, I don't use social media, which explains my ignorance to the meaning of his tweet.
  6. So, he retweets a post from Russ Wood about his visit at USF. Then he posts photos of himself in USG gear? Why would he do that if he not committed? Seems like a waste of time if there was no interest. Perhaps he has not officially committed, pending a visit at NC State.
  7. So, what is the deal with posting photos in Bulls' gear?
  8. Kasean Pryor, a 6'10 guard, committing to USF is an awesome get! I am very impressed with this roster so far. Even without any more significant additions, this roster may now be the best in USF history. And it is a roster with 3 players at least 6'10". I can't recall a roster with that much size, which is in stark contrast to coach Gregory's squads.
  9. Hopefully, we can land Kasean Pryor. He had his USF visit this past weekend! Hey Kasean, come make a difference here!
  10. No chance for Callum now; he committed to ECU. Now we have to face him.
  11. How do you know he is going to Oklahoma? If he goes to USF, I wonder if Selton Miguel would enter the portal.
  12. By the way, Tchewa ranked 1095th in blocked shots last year. Hundreds of smaller players were better at blocking shots. If you are 7' tall and not blocking or altering shots, you are giving the other team too many opportunities to score.
  13. Since I did not see anyone post this, here are highlights of Youngblood. This guy is a scorer!
  14. Agreed! And not because the players are in a "weaker" conference means that are worse players than those in the AAC.
  15. I agree with these three being great pickups; they are talented players and have grown together for 3 years under the same coach. This will make things a lot easier for Coach A-R with installing his system. I disagree with wanting to keep Tchewa though. He had 14 blocks in 57 games the last 2 seasons. This is not good for a 7' center.
  16. These 3 A-Sun guys are probably a better 3-guard combination than any that USF has had in its history.
  17. Gregory almost beat a lot of good teams. He almost beat Auburn last year too. He almost beat a lot a bad teams as well. His players regress (inability to develop players?). Yetna and Durr had outstanding freshmen seasons and regressed. More talented players usually sit the bench on his teams as well.
  18. That is what i was saying, which is he chose ETSU over USF. He is good down low, being able to shoot it with either hand, which includes an amazing sky hook with the left hand. He is not a tremendous leaper but appears to be adept at blocking shots (better than Tchewa). If he ends up here, see highlights: Callum Richard on Hudl Watch Callum Richard's videos and highlights on Hudl. More info: Upward Stars - Upward Stars 3SSB / PF, C / Spartanburg, SC
  19. Coach Abdur-Rahim already had discussions with Robinson and his family, and they remain committed. I have not seen any signs that Callum is coming here. I just made the connection between his choosing a school whose coach at the time is now at USF. If you know of anything, please share.
  20. Remember, he chose ETSU. However, he decommitted and the head coach at ETSU at the time is now an assistant at USF.
  21. It may have been difficult to see, but many of his shots were against guys of similar height. He can also dribble the ball. Did you miss his driving to the basket from mid-court for a dunk? The bottom line is that we have not had a big man this athletically gifted since John Egbunu in 2013. You see a major project, I see an athletically gifted player with excellent mobility, explosiveness, shot-blocking ability with excellent timing on his blocks, and great touch around the basket. For me, this is a major upgrade over anything we have had since 2013. As a senior, he shot 63% free throws, better than any year for Tchewa. Lots of upside in this recruit.
  22. Hey Dave, I saw the same video and wondered how he could be a 3-star recruit. Like you said, he looked unathletic and uncoordinated. I got excited after I found another video. Apparently, he had some huge body transformation heading into his senior year. Here is the video and let me know what you think. Anthony Robinson's (Arden, NC) Video "Anthony Robinson '23 6'10" Anthony Robinson's videos on MaxPreps.
  23. I hope we can use Callum Richard with 2 bigs already and that we are targeting him. We should have a great shot considering that he was previously committed to ETSU and that their previous coach is now a coach here.
