  1. I would give Kelly 2 more years to see if he can get it turned around. Me not liking the new hire doesn't mean that he can't be successful here. I have been wrong before. Thought Skip Holtz at the time was a good hire; and that didn't work out so well.  Now my expectations in two years is at least a bowl game in football, have the coaching situation sorted out for basketball, and break ground on the new OCS.

  2. We can't really afford 2 more years of not having a winning season; especially in a weaker conference. I expect more conference realignment, and right now programs like Memphis and others are probably ahead of us. New coaches come in all the time and turn programs around in less time. That's why I am not a fan of the new hire since he has no HC experience and comes with training wheels.

He still went 31-6 at Coastal Carolina; got them ranked and got them some national recognition. Five years ago I had never even heard of Coastal Carolina; now everyone knows about them. Would not have minded at all if USF had hired him; especially compared to what we got.

    correction; that's 31-6 in last 3 years

  5. Welcome Coach Golesh. I hope he does well here.

Think he is a risky pick by Kelly since he comes with zero head coaching experience; training wheels, and a verry steep learning curve. Also brings zero excitement, and also big question mark regarding whether he can recruit. So in my opinion this is not a good hire.

Would have preferred some established HC with recent success as a manager. If this doesn't work out lets say 2 years from now; I will have zero confidence left in Kelly.

Having said that I hope I am wrong and that his hire works out.

  6. Just woke up, and checked this board hoping for an update. Am I still sleeping and am I having a nightmare? This route doesn't make any sense. We needed someone with head coaching experience. We cant afford another coach with training wheels who will undoubtedly hit a learning curve. We needed someone who could be successful right away. Mullen, the Troy coach, the Toledo coach,... would have been better choices. Verry dissapointed!

Having said that I hope I am wrong and hope that he is successful here, but I doubt it. I have zero confidence right now in Kelly

Idk why, but I have always liked Memphis, East Carolina, Tulane, Navy and SMU (USF of course, haha) thought they were solid schools with growth potential. Rice, UAB and UTSA I’m actually in favor of them joining for the same reasons. Everybody else is dead weight to me.

Kind of sucks that over the next few years we will be competing against these schools for future conference realignment. Another reason that this coaching hire is so important.

I was not really hyped up on Sanders to begin with. Now if he was a USF guy then maybe. Plus the rumors of having to give up full control was a major turn off for me. Homeboy has yet to face tough competition so I was not sold on another hype coach without top 25 wins or bowl wins.

What excited me the most about Deion Sanders would have been his recruitment power. Also the excitement and national attention it would have brought to to the program. I think it would have been fun, and that he would have been successful here.

  9. Yes, what I am seeing on television right now makes me doubt whether he is the right guy, but even if Coastal loses today he will still be 31  and 6 in his last 37 games. But yes the Coastal defense looks awful. still think he is not a bad option compared to others that have been mentioned.

Of course it is possible, but I think many on here (possibly you included) are acting like MK's job is only to hire football coaches.  There is a ton that he has done right and our program is much better off than it was when he got here.  Now we need to win now (and needed to win more the past 3 years obviously) but the idea that he has been completely inept at his job is absurd.  We also don't know anymore that he was "outplayed" than we know that he wasn't.   if the next coach wins games, then the search was a success regardless

Our basketball team and football team are the worst it has ever been; we were left behind in conference realignment; a lot of silence lately regarding the OCS. If Kelly fails to get a good coach; I don't know by what metric that he is doing well right now. I will never understand the across the board contract extensions last year.

  11. "On December 13, 2018, Diaz was named the 28th head football coach at Temple University, replacing Geoff Collins, who left to become the head coach at Georgia Tech. However, he left the team just two weeks later to return to Miami and was named head football coach on December 30, 2018." Source Wikipedia

This alone makes it enough for me not to want Diaz. in addition he is a rethread and was at best average as a HC at Miami. So no for me

  12. I picked the field. Entertaining but disappointing especially after for a moment earlier in the week I thought it really could have been Deion. I hate twitter. Still I hope its a coach with recent success ( Chadwell) over someone who was average at a big school ( Diaz, Mullen)
