I got it Jim
Without Jim, none of this would be here, we would be the same school that didn't have a football program for the 1st 41 yrs in existence. Now it would be 63 yrs to present day.

Told you guys he was a D3 poster and couldn't hang on a D1 board. @puc86 really should have seen that coming
The reason I was a day 3 poster is because I became excited at the thought that the administration was going to try to fix the trainwreck that we turned into. I think all you have to do is look at the fact that we never built anything, such as an IPF back when we were winning consistently and filling RayJay. CJL took UCF off the schedule because they were not good enough. Now where are we 10 years later. Paying xCCS a huge buyout and heading towards the basement of the AAC. The facts should come out and if the CJL stuff was all hype, then most of us won't feel like we did in 2010 all over again.

I will be completely turned away if this is true because it will mean that CJL was MKs 1st choice and that the BOT decided they wouldn't support the choice of their AD. That would be even more dysfunctional than I thought we already had become.

I am hearing that a deal was done with CJL and the board of trustees did not approve the deal. Can someone make sure that a question is asked of the university tomorrow to confirm or deny this???

Since major outlets seem to be in agreement about “Jeff Scott coming to USF”....what are your thoughts on him (assuming he signs on the dotted line)?
I don’t know if it’s fallout from the wacky “Leavitt watch of 2019” or what, but I’m not really excited by his potential hiring. I don’t want to knock a guy before he arrives, but the lack of head coaching experience and title of “co” offensive coordinator worries me a bit (especially since he doesn’t doesn’t handle play calling). While he’s been recognized as a good recruiter, that’s been for a team that plays for national championships.
Anyone want to help me see the light? Or do others feel the same?
It worries me too. If he is such an up and comer, wouldn't he have been hired by Missouri or another p5 school. There have been many misses on hires from great programs. Their last OC that got hired away was Chad Morris and that didn't work out very well. If it comes out that the board of trustees nixed Leavitt, I will have no trust in the program.

I guarantee that Scott will be recruiting. The NCG is almost 1 month away. He will be on the phone and making his share of plane trips to Florida.
Sorry, but anyone can recruit for the top 5 colleges in the country. It is just a matter of do they want to go to Clemson or Ohio State or Alabama...how is he going to convince any players to come to a non P5 school that are any better than ones that already come here. I am very worried about how this is all going to work out. I hope for the best, but I am realistic.

Maybe Leavitt could come on as our new DC?
That would be the saving grace to all of this...give him the DC job and when Scott leaves in 2 years, CJL can elevate to HC...one can dream, right?

But there has to be a source for what they’re selling.
I guess if they did hire Jeff Scott, it could be a homerun in the short run, but if he wins, he leaves and we are right back where we started and if he doesn't win, it will be a dumpster fire....because he isn't going to come cheap and we are still paying Strong's 5mil a yr contract...so why would Scott sign here for WAY less than Strong was making???? This just doesn't make sense economically...let's consider supply and demand...if Scott is in demand, why wouldn't power5 teams be able to pay him way more money than us???

We've heard little about who USF is talking to. Seems Kelly leads a pretty tight ship. I work with people close to USF Athletics via the Lightning and have heard the same. Kelly plays his cards close to his chest. I think we only know about Larry Scott because someone near him reported it and his connection to USF is known (and I would not be surprised if he'd be considered to come on staff by the new HC, depending on the contract with UF).
We've only heard Larry Scott thus far has been talked to and I think we all realize they have not just interviewed one person. So who Kelly is talking to, we don't know. The Clemson people are hearing Jeff Scott to USF.Agreed...it is all just speculation until an official media release by Kelly

Kind of like Leavitt (people's thoughts that is). But the Jeff Scott to USF train is picking up a ton of steam right now.
Could be because he didn't get the Mizzou job...why wouldn't he still want a P5 job over ours???
-
We will see...I am afraid that he will be in for a tough job to sell the fans...more empty seats at RayJay

Drinkwitz to Missouri and Jeff Scott to USF is all over Twitter right now.
Agreed with Drinkwitz because that is an actual reported story. It was said on twitter that Jeff Scott had interviewed with Missouri, it hasn't said anything about him actually interviewing with USF, just peoples thoughts so far.

Jeff Scott seems to be the name thrown about right now on Twitter.
Yes, to Missouri...why would he take USF over a P5 job...USF is not P5 and is not going to land one of the top coordinators from a team that has won mulitple national championships...pipe dream

Will see...hope you are right
I imagine that tomorrow we will hear something out of Michael Kelly...any direction they go, I believe it has to be presented correctly to help to win back the fanbase. The ultimate intermediate goal for Kelly is to get money to get the IPF done. I am not sure a random hiring is going to accomplish this. Has to be a big splash and I just don't see too many other splashes that would be as big as Leavitt.

Looking like Scott on a few other Tweets too. I see a trend.
I have been following this all 24/7. I don't see any of it except for Joey and the TDS guys creating it. I trust Grothe more that the other fools.

Those guys at TDS put the odds of Jim Leavitt becoming head coach at 500:1 early in a story they had. When I first saw those odds in an excerpt posted here, I thought it was just a joke designed to further deride CJL. Afterall, “the field” was like 7:2 or something close. But it was actually part of their story. So, for them to do that, I have to believe they may have received information from Michael Kelly or his proxy. They seem to have been embraced by USF Athletics this last season. I’m beginning to think this was the chosen way for Kelly and USF to dismiss Leavitt as a candidate and front run it with their useful idiots at TDS. It was an attempt to extinguish the thought before it took hold in larger USF Bulls fan communities.
Clearly if that was the plan, it didn't work.
Then of course Nathan follows with a comment deleterious to Leavitt that he hit a player. Not allegedly.
Hope I’m wrong, but beginning to smell a .
I guess my question would be do you really think Grothe is completely out of the know and is just making things up? I really can't believe he would have any reason to do that.

Reality check for everyone that thinks USF is the most desired job in the country. Times have changed. This isn't 2010 when we were the up and coming hot program that had tie-ins to the BCS and coaches would have loved to coach the Bulls. We are a program that has regressed, no IPF, no OCS, nothing. We aren't getting a big name coordinator from the P5. At this stage CJL is the right/best person available that would have mutual interest and can repair the huge amount of damage that has been done. Embrace it as reality, otherwise if we take a chance on someone who isn't qualified, the football program will cease to exist.

At the end of the day, if we don't hire him, someone else will because they know he is plenty qualified and will be a difference maker wherever he goes. We would be crazy to not bring him back. If we don't Colorado State or Fresno State or FAU and maybe even Missouri will hire him.
