USF would do well to discreetly put out these rumors about Jim Leavitt, if in fact he isn’t a candidate. Otherwise there will be a LOT of disappointed Bulls fans when the coach is announced next week. Not fair to the new coach.
I fully believe that Grothe would have said he wasn't a candidate if it were true. He has narrowed it down to Leavitt and Larry Scott and says that it is looking more and more like Leavitt.

He is a very good DC and I believe his buyout would be offset by any new salary, so good luck Charlie!

I guess as a non-believer, I’m not as tuned into the subtleties. On the outside, it just looks like a guy who wants xCJL to get hired.
Ultimately until an official announcement is made we are all speculating on what information is out there...but there seems to be a pattern that is leaning in that direction.

Don't be bringing that logic sorcery stuff in here. We don't use logic or believe in facts. TBP members like to use emotions and rumors to make decisions.
Luv it!!!

Amen to that! Couldn't be said any better!

I see a whole lot of speculation on his part, but nothing that looks like knows.
He is not going to outright say he knows something for sure...he would be undermining MK and CJL if he did...he has been subtle and did most of it in replies to tweets, not his own tweets...keeps it a little more on the dl...

Clemson OCs did not come off a production line... they aren't genetic twins. It's not that easy.
I'm really starting to like you @RoyD3!
Thanks and Go Bulls!

Well, they do have tons of talent to work with.

Don't get me wrong I like S. King and I was there wearing the burger king hats at the bucs games back in the day. I love that he has been with the program and I hope he stays with us.
Hey, we all love the Bulls, so we all just want the best, much respect for you!

Was this a tweet I missed or he said it here?
It was a reply to a tweet, go to his twitter page and look at his tweets and replies...

Because not all P5 jobs are created equal. They aren’t going to be hired away from Clemson to a premier program, see FSU opening this year.
The quickest way to a premier P5 job is 3-4 years at a AAC program. See CWT, Tom Herman, Scott Frost, and now Mike Norvell.
Could they get an offer to a Vandy, Boston College, Oregon State level program? Sure. But if your eyes are set on a premier job, going the G5 route to prove your worth as a CEO for a couple of years is the way to go.
Grothe said the Clemson guys were not interested and he has sat down with MK, so I think I trust him on it.

Ok, so he is an experienced player. Doesn't have anything to do with being OC.
I dont like USF being in the habit of on the job training. I'd like to leave that for lower levels.
Understood...remember that King was the qb coach when Flowers flourished in the gulf coast offense...he is a very smart man!

Don't think they would... I'm just saying everyone here is hanging their hats on Jim or Willie. We'd all be surprised if it's someone else.
Fair point...but we can only hire someone that has mutual interest and that can be more challenging if you think that top assistants in the power 5 will want a non P5 job.

He has no experience.
Sure, he's only been an undefeated qb at Tulane and been a starting qb in the NFL...he has more experience than most offensive coordinators...

Whether or not it happens, the excitement this has generated is better than anything football related in the last two years.
Yes, the crazy thing is that there is definitely talent on the roster and if we just have the right coaches to develop them, motive them and put them in positions to succeed, we could be better than you might expect next yr. Also, the schedule will be considerably easier next yr.

I talked the Grothe about it and he confirmed talking to AD MK about CJL coming back.
Agreed...why would Grothe have any reason to not tell anything but the truth with respect to both CJL and MK...

All this talk about Jim (which I love) and watch MK roll out one of the Clemson guys
Why would one of the Clemson guys take a non P5 job when they will have P5 offers? When we were still in the Big East with a BCS bowl tie in, maybe, but not in the current environment.

So, my thoughts are that once it is official, someone in the media will be clued in, such as what is happening with Lane Kiffin and what will also happen with Mike Norvill after the end of the Memphis game, but until all terms are agreed to in principle, we can only rely on what we are hearing from somewhat inside sources such as Grothe and clues from social media posts. Hopefully it all wraps up tomorrow or Monday so we don't all go crazy.

Well, I attended USF when football was started, attended the 1st ever game, and remember that CJL came to my accounting fraternity annual banquet as the guest speaker and I got the chance to meet him, shake his hand and have a conversation about the upcoming 1st season and he was just ALL IN to turning our program into something special!

I think it is a combination of where the state of our program is right now as well as fixing the mistakes of the previous admin wanting Jim out as the coach. A lot of egos back then with Judy and Doug. I also don't believe that we got any interest from some of the up and coming assistants as they probably weren't going to take a non P5 job when they could have P5 opportunities. All in all we are better with CJL anyway!!!

I have been checking everything I can as I have followed this coaching search and DM'd Michael Kelly, etc. and it sure looks like this is happenning and it is what has needed to happen to bring back the heart and soul to this program! Go Bulls!!!
