  1. USF is an improving program so I don't know how many P5 teams want them as a buy game.
  2. It is having the opposite affect. With fewer OOC games the P5 programs are less interested in scheduling a home-and-away series because they need home games for their season ticket holders.
  3. If you win those games but have a crappy OOC schedule then you could end up with a No. 9 seed or worse like the First Four in Dayton (and yes USF did well there before but the odds of advancing past there aren't good and the casual fan doesn't even consider that the Tournament. The casual fan calls it the 'play in game'). Better OOC schedule, provided you win those games, leads to better seeding along with the conference wins he mentioned.
  4. I was being ridiculous on purpose because it's ridiculous to me that some people don't see why a good OOC schedule is important.
  5. Well, technically you could mail it in and go winless in the regular season, win the conference tournament and lock up the NCAA Tournament automatic bid. But the fan base would shrink even more, your program would lose a ton of money because your arena would be virtually empty for every home game and that would kind of suck.
  6. Playing better OOC teams helps prepare your team for conference play. Also, the NCAA Tournament Committee definitely considers OOC schedule when making decisions on bubble teams. It is difficult to get into the tournament if you are 0-6 in Quad 1 games and 2-5 in Quad 2 games. So it is great that USF gets to play Memphis, Temple, Wichita State, Cincinnati and Houston but USF needs to win more of those games to get into the NCAA tournament conversation. Year 3 under Gregory the team needs some quad 1 wins and fewer quad 4 games. Hopefully the OOC schedule doesn't include any teams whose NCAA NET ranking was worse than 299 last season.
  7. If I am not mistaken his brothers' names are God's Gift, God's Will and Promise. He also has two sisters, Grace and Peace. I think his dad is a Christian Minister and that all of the kids were born in Nigeria. All of those names can be found in the bible.
  8. Last season's OOC schedule wasn't exactly soft by design. There were games that prior to Brian Gregory's arrival USF had contractually agreed to play and were not in a position to pay the buyout to get out of those games. We will see a better OOC schedule this season, but with some conferences moving to 20 game conference schedules and the SEC having a RPI cutoff, OOC scheduling has become more complicated.
  9. The Gators will not be on the schedule, nor will any SEC team because the Bulls' average RPI ranking over the past three years is higher than 175.
  10. Yes,the blue painter's tape is definitely temporary set up.
  11. Yes. College basketball coaches nationwide use blue painter's tape to mark all kinds of spots on the floor during practice. The help line, Xs for where they want the inbounds pass to be caught, where certain screens are to be set. I read elsewhere that when the team is in Canada the practice court is being refinished and the new 3 pt line will be painted on the floor.
  12. I read on TOS that they put down blue painter's tape for the new 3 point line
  13. Plus 3 games in the Cayman Islands Classic. That is all that has been made public thus far.
  14. Oh I don't judge his ability to coach on that one game. For example, he took Memphis to Wichita State and won at Koch Arena which is one of the most difficult places for a visiting team to win. When his team left Tampa they were 5-4 in the conference and they finished 11-7 and made it to the NIT. His team got better as the season went on. The guy can coach. We'll see how good next season when he has a bunch of guys who all need the ball to be effective. I don't think any former NBA player has as much experience coaching young guys as Penny had when he took the Memphis job. Penny coached MS, HS & AAU. He has an ability to connect with kids beyond "I was a NBA star and a star at this school so you should listen to me."
  15. Rideau is still healing from an injury. Any injury Dawson had was minor.
  16. I dunno. That was a HELLUVA coaching job by Penny after his team trailed 27-1, was held to just 4 first half field goals and trailed 38-13 at halftime. No WAY did I expect Memphis to score 65 second half points. On the road? LOL didn't see that coming. Their defensive pressure in the second half was terrific. Keeping his team's head in the game and convincing them that the game wasn't over at halftime was impressive. He may not have 20 years of college coaching experience but I've been telling people for over a year that anyone who underestimates Penny Hardaway's coaching ability is either poorly informed, biased or is being foolish.
  17. Wiseman is definitely one-and-done. He should be a lottery pick. His commitment alone will cause other five-star prospects to consider Memphis. Penny was a NBA All-Star PG so he should never have difficulty recruiting high level point guards. Get a really good PG and really good bigs often follow. Penny and Mike Miller are going to be able to recruit. Penny is going to be able to draw up plays. This is why Memphis fans were so twisted when they hired Tubby.
  18. No. 1 class in the Nation. I can't wait to see them play. I'm considering going to Memphis when USF plays there next season.
  19. Lotta anticipation for the season. I think it could turn out to be the most competitive AAC season yet. Bulls non-conference schedule gonna be tougher than it has been in a few years
  20. The hot word on the street is that he is still injured/not healthy enough to workout with any teams.
  21. Dawson will play starter minutes. This team will have a very versatile backcourt.
  22. According to someone I trust, USF has been using the new three-point line for the past four weeks during workouts.
