Its almost 11 AM Tampa time. Still haven't heard anything. Looks less and less likely that Gregory will be fired. I think its a big mistake if he doesn't get fired , and one that could cost Kelly his job if there is no improvement next year. But it is what it is.

I don't think it will cost Kelly  his job. In my opinion, the thing that would cost Kelly his job is if Alex Golesh turns out to be the second coming of Jeff Scott.

Seat backs. At least in non-student areas.  I don't need arm rests or cup holders or padded seats -- but past the age of 50, I need to be able to sit and have back support at least part of the time (TV timeouts, halftime, 4th quarter blowouts, etc). The portable seats that some older stadiums offer are terrible. Make them like the old Tampa Stadium.

I feel you. I just realized that the year the stadium opens is the year I turn 50. Seat backs please .

How about let's get the best coach we can convince to come to USF and let's put the training wheels back on MK.  He shouldn't be making any significant hires without input from others.  His track record of hiring and managing coaches is less than stellar to say the least.

I am all for this. It’s time to start holding MK accountable for these horrid coaching decisions.

I hear ya. I’m not a crowd attendance volume expert but as someone who has attended nearly every home game since the late 2000s, I personally think the ~30k average attendance figure that has been published is bs. I can say with certainty that my section (108) has never had more open seats (entire rows) than last season. So I’m not sure what the real attendance figure is, but I find it potentially telling that the draft design for the OCS is 35k seats. Wouldn’t seem to leave much room to welcome back all of the lost fans if we were truly averaging 30k today.

I feel you. I have a feeling that RayJay is going to be even more empty this season. I am in Section 109 and it seemed like I was just one of about  twenty total people in the section for home games last season. I am not sure who is still going to be left to watch Rice and Charlotte play.

I have been on this board now for about two months, and I haven't seen anyone say that Kelly should be fired at this point. I have always said that he deserves two more years to right the ship. However its undeniable that the results haven't been there. Under his leadership the football team has been the worst it has ever been, we have been left behind in conference realignment,, and he seems reluctant to fire Gregory ( we will see on this point at the end of the season). If anything right now we are in the worst spot that we have ever been.

Very true.  I don't think Kelly should be fired, but I definitely do not think he is a great AD.  Football and basketball need to start seeing some results.  If Golesh is the second coming of Jeff Scott, I don't think Kelly will survive to hire a third coach.

**** just got the ticket renewal email and saw the home schedule... Oh man... woof

Tough to cough up the money and even the effort to watch those teams. I'm a die hard fan with two degrees from the school and find it difficult to keep investing after seeing this downhill trend. Miss those days of playing name brand schools. Yes even Rutgers.

I know I sound like an entitled ass saying that with our brief history in football, but seriously in our big city of Tampa and with as many alumni that we have there is no reason for us to be in this predicament.

This is a bad situation to be in my friends...

I received the same email today as well and my first thought upon seeing it was……man that home schedule is awful. Tampa is a major league town used to major league sporting events, and outside of Alabama, that home schedule is as minor league as it gets. Good thing we are moving on campus because minor league college football would not survive long term at RayJay

Strong did a pretty good job of running it into the ground with his coaching and lack of recruiting before CJS even got here, but let's pretend everything was fine and dandy.  I don't think there is much left of that dead horse but bones at this point.  You're literally kicking bones.  CJS is gone, let it go....look to the future...why jump on any mention of CJS??  He's not coming back.

My friends and I have joked that Charlie Strong burned down the program and Jeff Scott proceeded to piss on the ashes. Now Alex Golesh finds himself sifting through the residue.

Those comments definitely raise some serious questions about Kelly, who hired Scott and then extended him when it was already obvious it wasn't working. Hopefully this is the hire that resolves any concern and dispels that cloud.

This is what i am hoping as well.  But if Golesh ends up shyting the bed, Kelly shouldn't be allowed to hire a third coach IMO.

    Wow.

    Watching CAG's NSD presser.

He is not holding back about what he was left with and what he went after!

Threw out "borderline criminal" and "negligent" to describe things.

Just goes to show you what a completely incompetent regime we had running things the past three seasons..........although I think deep down we all knew how incompetent they were  that after the Tulane loss in 2021.
