  1. As stated before, your coach is overstating it. You'll probably get between 10 and 12 possessions.
  2. Bingo. While personnel certainly matters, it's probably more useful to think in terms of positions, where each of the three positions probably should equal ~1/3 of the yards (dependent, of course, on what the defense decides).
  3. That's a fact. The Safety just completely airballed the play, and that's the difference between winning and losing. Hopefully we get those inches this year.
  4. I'm not sure I agree with this. The new defensive coordinator has said he wants to play a butt ton of guys. He likes to rotate a lot everyone can stay fresh and play like their hair is on fire. now, it's entirely possible that you're right, and some of those guys wouldn't play against teams not named Alcorn State, but I just don't think we have a long enough track record to say one way or the other.
  5. Maaaaannnnnn. With our defense still being so new it's really hard to say. The defense played pretty lights out in week 1 (we're currently sitting at like #4 nationally in defensive yards per play), but...it's one game....against Alcorn State, you know? Offensively, I think we're going to get ours. Our QB isn't as good as we've had in recent years, but he's not awful, and we've got a lot of talent at RB and OL. I just have no idea whether we're actually pretty good on D now, or if we just looked great against scrubs, and you guys are going to waltz in and hang 45 on us. I like our chances better against a stationary target than against a runner at QB, but maybe he picks us apart. I'm gonna be optimistic and say GT 28-24, but I fully admit this is probably more of a heart pick than a head pick.
  6. Weirdly enough, for a team like GT that butters its bread with the run game, that hasn't always been our strength. Gt tends to prefer smaller, more athletic linemen over big bruisers (better for diving at knees, you know ;))
  7. FWIW, stingtalk is the foxnewsiest of our message boards. If you want more of what I consider to be rational conversation, i'd suggest gtswarm
  8. FWIW, longestdays is probably one of our best 1 or 2 x's and o's guys, so feel free to ask him pretty detailed questions about our scheme (particularly on offense). He's exactly right, though, that super athletic linebackers (or walked up safeties, **** dook) have been known to give us fits by simply beating our blockers to the spot. Miami has had success lining up one of their endless litany of LB's who can run a 4.4. 40 9 yards deep, and mirroring the play using their speed and quickness. I would ask you guys the ssame question. What, historically, has given your offense problems? I know you guys run the Briles, so in the grand scheme of things, the answer is "not much", but do you guys have any think that we as outside fans could watch for that would giev us some insight?
