It's a big series on the road with one of the 2 teams we are tied with for the top spot in the conference. It's also our first conference road trip. Houston has been a very solid program the past few years and they are a good team again this year which is why they were ranked. Cumbie seems to be the Friday night starter so I'm guessing he will start again this week and their pitching staff has been very good. We need to find a way to scratch out enough runs to take 2 of 3.

Don’t see where you are getting the Sands info from.
Its hard to take a lot of this as fact when Knight only watches 10 minutes of practice.
It says observations not facts

Their IPF is a warehouse with no A/C, and the stadium is a glorified high school field.. Hard pass.
Texas high school stadium maybe

With a few rare exceptions, if you didn't go watch this team play the last two years at RayJay, you weren't going to watch it at an ocs unless you were a lazy student. An ocs has some positives but I don't think increasing non-student attendance is one of them.
New stadium can drum up excitement from the casual fan. Not necessarily be a long term solution. It may become more of an event plus the ease of attending drives up student attendance. This could in turn increase future alumni support. New stadium on campus + winning will most likely equal continued increase in attendance

And that ties into the competition aspect that I mentioned.
Agreed, we played 5 ranked teams in 2009 and 3 were Big East teams (FSU and Miami the other 2)

Sounds about right. Probably only 4 teams tops getting in the NCAA tourney though so we need to keep winning series. Mohl has done a good job with the pitching for sure

It’s a mixture of winning and the competition IMO. Look no further than ‘07 - 09 where we averaged around 40,000 butts in seats and 50,000 announced each year.
Conference was night and day.

I think the last two seasons have proven that winning isn't the total cure for attendance woes.
We need an OCS, and we need it now.
Attendance up over last two years .....

Simple... add the fee and when the stadium is paid for, to include money from corporations, private donors, and naming rights, 50% of the profits generated from the stadium goes towards lowering tuition fees and on campus text book sales.

Yes, yes we would, just as the Marshall Center fee eventually went away. I paid that fee. I saw it on my tuition statements for a few years-then not long after it got built, by the time I graduated, it had stopped.
Did it go away? I see there is still a student union upkeep fee

Based on what I see in local news sources, I think that it is more likely that Tampa builds FSU a second stadium in the area before they support USF getting one.
USF plays in a community built stadium currently ......

I imagine that student fees exist for all sorts of things that students wouldn't support, if given the choice. That said, there should be clear ROI for this to be approved.
One of the benefits of being in a school with selective enrollment is that applicants will pay what they need to pay to go here.
Yep, all kinds of fees in the tuition. Not just athletics
-
Our athletic fees are in the lower third of public schools in the state. Two of the schools lower than us, UF and FSU, receive huge revenue from tv deals in their P5 conference.

They have played one heck of a schedule so far especially on the road. Generally they are a solid program.

So I didn't know this, but the SEC is doing some interesting stuff with earpieces for pitch calling and replays. I found the pitch calling walkie- talkie to pretty interesting. I think it will catch on.
"The coach will speak into a walkie-talkie or pinned-on microphone, and the catcher will have an earpiece inside his helmet. Communication will be one-way only, from coach to catcher."
https://www.sporttechie.com/sec-baseball-wireless-pitch-calling-expanded-instant-replay/
I didn't read the article, but can this be used to circumvent the trips to the mound by a coach rule? Coach just tells catcher to go to the mound and tell the pitcher something?

You are taking literary license using the term "crowd".
Touche and we could probably say the same about "storming the field" lol

I'm not really a fan either. Mostly due to his choice of school as well, although he used to make fun of UCF. I can't find those quotes anymore. He might have taken them down in recent years as he has returned to do shows there. i can't lie though, some of his one liners get me.
I used to watch him a lot more. Funny, but I don't know how he gets away with some of the things he does/says in today's society. lol

Not only that, but the city of Birmingham is contributing $90 million towards construction.

Hey, at least it only took 20 years for us to get our own locker room at Ray Jay.
Money is for more than just the stadium. Includes expansion and renovations at the convention center and arena which will be next door. I would guess that the stadium will service more than UAB football as well

He probably did. Many of the star athletes play both ways and it's natural for a RB or WR to play DB on the other side of the ball at that level.
