I just think you are confusing observation and evaluation with indecision at this point of the season. Agree that it would be great to say this is our guy and have him be our guy.
Honestly and with all due respect, I am not confused at all. There is not excuse for a coach to have had the amount of time he and his staff have had to observe and evaluate these players and not know what he has and what they can do. Doesn't mean things would never change and that he doesn't, but honestly the idea that we need 4 regular season games to decide who our #1, #2, and #3 qb's are .... is ridiculous. If that is what he is saying

You are making assumptions regarding where the program was when he took over. You are assuming that he inherited a 4-win caliber roster, but it was clear that there wasn't much, if any, Division I talent on that roster. Again, just look at where our transferred ended up in the portal. Also, he didn't have the benefit of playing UCONN last year (we would have beaten them mercilessly) and ECU had improved to the point they were better than us. The only loss that absolutely should have been a win was Temple. Other than Temple what team, on paper, should we have beaten last year? I am going to assume you would say ECU. So he underachieved by 2 wins last season. Which is still debatable; I would put the number at 1.
Outsiders don't have the perspective of the state of the progrum. They just see W's and L's. I expect myopic, uninformed, unrealistic opinions from outsiders.Coaching was 100% a factor in winning zero FBS games last year. Was there other factors? Of course, but if he and his staff do a better job coaching 2-3 wins should have definitely been a reality. The talent discussion is ridiculous. We didn't have jv high school guys on. roster and we weren't competing in the SEC, it's the aac for crying out loud. Coach up your players and go out and win some games.
Now, I'm not out on a ledge screaming for CJS' head, but enough of the excuses. He is getting paid to coach the team up. As said several times before, I will reserve judgement until after the conference slate this year.

I thought that was your question on the QBs?
Not so much a question on my part as an observation. Being indecisive is not a good trait for a head coach and there seems to be some of this in CJS

Temple and Memphis last year should have been wins. I'm giving him this season to show improvement.
They probably should have been yes, but they weren't. Agree that he should get this season especially the conference games

Sure you can. The ones that don't play will just transfer now.
That's ok

The whole class should be DL's and LB's. We have two QB commits and two WR commits. We shouldn't be taking those positions unless the players are absolute studs at this point.
Can never have too many athletes at the skill positions

He had 350 yards last year on 7 yards per carry as a true freshman. Idk why it took the coaching staff so long to give him a chance this year.
Think we should have a RB rotation figured out. Battie on early downs, Felix on 3rd downs (well rounded back that can block and catch), and Mangham anytime we're in the redzone (dude's automatic)
Did you really just ask that? I'm seeing a trend

@BullyPulpit Good analysis overall. I agree with some of the coaching adjustments in general and I think we have beefed up the talent level. Not sure how we come up with a grade of B though at this point. As someone else pointed out, we haven't won a game against an FBS opponent to date. I expect that to change this season, but still. Can't see a B with that hanging over his head. I've said that we need to see what we do against the conference slate before we really know what we got going on.

Just look back to the year Flowers got his first start. He didn't start until later in the year and, by most opinions, he didn't look ready that day. His playbook was very limited. Fortin had a year with this offense and was more prepared than a teenager that, I believe, did not come in January of this year. Not saying he is better, but he was more prepared.
No problem with this. I get the bringing along slowly and making sure he is ready. But now we start McClain and Fortin seems to be 3rd string as we put in Marsh to "get some reps". Seems like a cluster not a plan to get McClain ready to be the man whenever he is ready.

Just keep in mind that Flowers had a full year and into the 2nd year before he got close to be Flowers. Just saying to be patient with him.
This is true. He was brought along slowly and took his lumps. I just don't know what we are doing here. "Fortin's the starter, McClain is the starter, not committed to McClain the starter, need to get Marsh reps, still looking at what these guys can do," etc. Just seems to be thrown to together without a real plan. Hopefully it all works out for the better

scored 49 last week against an FCS team sure, but this past weekend they only scored 14 against a Georgia Tech team that isn't that good and let up more to Northern Illinois and Kennesaw State
Forgot about Ga Tech, but yeah they may be sorting things out after losing Lawrence. Still not a constant decline since CJS left. More like big decline when Lawrence left

Now knowing about Timmy's hamstring, I understand a little bit more. I think he is giving Marsh the reps to see if his Plan B is Marsh or Cade. Clearly, when healthy, Timmy is his Plan A.
This isn't the first sign. Marsh mainly handed the ball off so you didn't really see much. He should know what each guy can do and what the Plan A, B, and C is already. That's my take. Doesn't mean it all won't work out in the end. I said before performance in the conference will be a much better indicator of where we are

There must be a way to add the access after the fact. 214 isn't a Club Access section but my tix there do say Club on them because of donor level. A friend with season tix with us didn't have Club on his, despite him also being at a donor level to receive it, but they were able to add the access somewhere on them.
I know people that sit in that section and have for years that have Club Access. Maybe grandfathered in? Maybe donor level? Not sure

Not defending our performance since coach Scott arrived, but I've started seeing a lot of Clemson fans complain that their offense has been in constant decline since he left. Makes me weirdly optimistic just for the fact that he likely was actually contributing to a big part of their success, and wasn't just an assistant riding coattails.
Really hope we can beat someone we aren't supposed to soon just for some verification we're on the right track.
Really? They averaged around 40 points a game last year and Lawrence threw for over 3K last season. They were outscored in the semifinal game last year. They did get stifled by UGA to open this year, but pounded their patsy last week by a score of 49-3
It's obvious we have different definitions of "constant decline" down here in Florida.

It would be great if we could break this "tradition" of getting beat by FBS teams

Well. He did get beat by CCS so maybe he decided to hold back just in case.
This is one helluva point. If you can be "out coached" by CCS, you can be "out coached" by anybody.

I just saw the Tweet where CJS acknowledged the hamstring issue. To me it is was obvious that he tweaked it in the last two series against FAMU. Hopefully he is getting better and can be closer to 100% against BYU. Anything less than 90% won't work.
Yeah I saw that. I don't know how he is going to truly 100% if it really was a problem last week.

Coach already said or strongly hinted that a few qbs will play.
Very important game from that standpoint. Last chance to see who is your guy this year.
This level of indecisiveness is going to be his downfall

I think the first step to success is to stop using the victim mentality. There were lots of barriers, but it still doesn't make going 0'fer FBS ok. You don't have to call for his head to say we should have been better and move forward from there.
