As someone who rarely follows golf except for USF and a few tournaments each year; aside from playing myself ofcourse I have a question. When it comes to golf is there anything keeping this kid from skipping school altogether and just joining the tour at some point? If he keeps winning these amateur events I'd assume he would get an invite sooner rather than later.

You have to earn your tour card by qualifying, you don't just get invited to join the tour. But if he does keep going at his pace, there's a strong chance he won't be in school for more than a year or two before he decides he's ready for the big boys.

  2. Wow that's awesome. Kid is an absolute stud. It sure would be nice to finally have someone break through on tour a few years down the line. Although if he keeps it up, it might be sooner rather than later.

  3. Him actually winning is a pipedream. However, I think there is a legitimate shot he backdoors an invite if we have the season everyone is hoping for. That would be good enough for me. He'll most likely put up better or comparable numbers than the recent G5 guys that were invited (Keenan Reynolds 2015, Jordan Lynch 2013, Kellen Moore 2010)

Kind of guessing here, being that we haven't seen this offense in an actual game yet, but it sounds like we should be in good shape for years to come, or at least as long as this staff is intact. Sounds like the kind of offense Kean, and hopefully Oladokun can thrive in as well.

While I definitely agree with you, I don't really see Gilbert being here very long. He's a bit of a hot-name up and coming coach who will most likely be gone in the next year or so. I'd bet he's gone before strong is.

For those worrying that CCS might slow down our offense, this article might put you more at ease.,

The only thing I'm worried about is them trying to turn Q into too much of a traditional pocket passer. I am just a little concerned how it seems like this offense has a very limited amount of designed QB runs.

Even if he gets past the gun charge the 20 grams of weed he was caught with wont help. I mean geez, guns and weed.....wtf man.... he truly had a false sense of invincibility. Oh well more playing time for Jaymon, Craig Watts and Huggins.

If you're caught with less than 20 grams in Tampa, it is no longer a criminal defense, just a citation that's pretty much similar to a traffic citation. So I don't think that really factors in that much.

And Child's had one on him according to the story on ESPNs front page.

Spokesperson Lt. Steve Lee described the incident as "possibly road rage in which Childs and another individual got into an argument and each person had a gun, and Childs was shot several times."

does not mean he pulled it though. Smith was walking back to his car when he was shot in the back; was he getting his gun? Maybe maybe not.  Just like at this moment I have no idea if Childs pulled his out or just had one on him/in his car. The incidents seem pretty close to me personally.

Obviously it's still pretty early, but reports so far indicate he may have pulled it first:

    http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/usf-football-player-shot-at-tampa-apartment-complex/2317982

"About 11:15 p.m. Saturday, police received a call from a man later identified as Jovanni Jimenez, 26, saying that a man, later identified as Childs, pointed a gun at Jimenez and his wife and child at the Eagles Point Apartments at Tampa Palms, 14551 N 46th St."

The only scenario in which i see one transferring would be Kean if he loses the starting job next summer.  He will only have 1 year left. Oladukan will have 2 I think. In a perfect world, Kean starts his senior year and then Olodukan the following year and within that time frame a young player develops.

Kean is going into his rSo year, so he'll have two years to start if he wins the job in 2018.

I'd call losing by 50 to Duke taking a step back.

He got ACC coach of the year because of a few flashy wins and because they pretty much automatically disqualify Coach K and Roy Williams from consideration.

He has the worst record for a Coach of the Year winner in about a decade.  Coach K and Roy Williams deserved it a lot more than he did, but they aren't even considered.  That last ACC Coach of the Year to win with such a bad record?  Seth Greenberg.  He won it twice for going 9-7 and 8-8 in conference.

My uncle works at UNC.  ACC Coach of the Year is a charity award because they exclude the top dogs from receiving it.

They lost four seniors.  All their top players were recruited by Gregory.  The Freshmen were mostly his and just signed by the new guy.  They're losing 6 seniors this year, so we'll see how he does going forward.

How do we know that Gregory would not have done similar with these players he recruited?

So are we going to acknowledge that Gregory laid the foundation and did not leave the cupboard bare?  If he couldn't recruit then there's no way GT would've won much.

Could you please explain to me how Coach K deserved conference coach of the year? That is absolutely laughable. They were pretty much a consensus #1 team in the country coming into the season...and they finished 5th in their conference...

I can't see us going with Bartow unless no one else wants the job. My guess is Harlan is waiting until after the final four to see if any big name coaches do become available and if they would want the USF job. I did hear the Donovan has been looking to go back into college so we could at least see if he would be interested. Can't hurt to ask just don't know if we could afford him

Hahahahahahaha. May I please have some of whatever you're smoking?

He wants out, because he knows this is the best he is going to do at Seton Hall, he thinks that USF has resources that he can use and the conference is much easier to be good in.

Thamel came out and named him today.  It is going to happen.  If Angel Delgado is going pro, then he has nothing left at Seton Hall to not go into a tailspin next year, and he knows it.  If USF offers, he is here.

Considering the position we're in currently, this would be an absolute Home Run of a hire if it happens. He has ties to the area and frequently visits and plays golf in the off-season. I had the chance to spend some time with him a couple years ago, and despite being a Pitino disciple, he's a stand up dude.

By "good landing spot", I assume you think that he'll be let go by Seton Hall if this year continues to go the way it is .... which wouldn't be surprising considering his overall lack of success there.

Huh? There's a good chance they'll be in the tourney this year...

Yeah, although I would expect that if we only lose one conference game next year, it won't be as big of a deal as last year. I don't think anyone in the east other than us is capable of making it through the season with only one loss like Temple did. Although no ones really talking about them, I do think Cincy could be the team that surprises some this year. I don't think their talent level is quite as bad as their record has showed the last few years, and I think inserting an up-and-coming/hungry coach could be the kickstart they need. I don't think tubbervile had any motivation at all. Just a veteran coach collecting his last few paychecks while basically stealing from a university.

I also think our best chance of a loss comes against Houston, which fortunately wouldn't affect us quite as bad. I also think theyre most likely the favorite to represent the west in the champ game. Memphis should be pretty strong, but Houston still returns a ton on defense, including a top 10 (possibly top 5) defensive player in he country and Texas A&M transfer QB Kyle Allen will take over. Kid was pretty solid his first two years at A&M, one would think he'll be a top 2 or 3 QB in the conf from the get-go. I think I'd only take Quinton and maybe Ferguson ahead of him.

Yeah I find it hard to believe if we make it the AACCG that we will lose; especially if we're hosting. I find it more believable that we lose a stupid conference game that holds us out again like last year.

UCF was vastly improved last season and I expect they will be an even tougher opponent this year.

    That being said:

    12-0

    Conference champ winners.

Defeat Oregon in a bowl game.

That's my stone-cold solid lock of the week. If you want more call my 900 number.

Idk if this is quite the year UCF makes that jump. The driving force for them last year was their defense, who loses 7 starters. I don't think Milton is the answer at QB and their O line is absolutely non-existent. If Frost stays another couple years and can get a QB, they could be very tough, but right now I just don't see it.
