  1. Antigua is methodical.  He has a system and he recruits players specific to that system.  It's so much different than what Stan did.   These long rangy players who can run and shoot.  He loves athleticism.  I think we could have a decent team next season.  We will be a lot more competitive with Peters at the guard.  I saw him and I'm not sure he's just 6'3.  I'm 6'1 and he towered over me, I though he was at least 6'4.  Has long arms and big hands.  Watched him shoot around and my jaw dropped.  He is money.  Has a pretty shot and he has handles.  I can't wait to see him in an actual game.  He looked the same height as Troy.

I'm excited about next basketball season.  I'd personally like to see Nunez added.  He's better than what we lost in Clayton...

I've thought the same thing, I'm a legit 6'3 barefoot and he was no doubt taller than me.

  2. I frankly don't give a **** about getting in the big 12.

    If Harlan can:

1.) Get us back to the days of averaging an actual attendance of 40,000 a game for football, and then do consistently year after year.  Not announced attendance but actual, last season the announced was 34,000 a game but the actual was only 20,000 a game according to this

2.) Get the men's basketball program turned around to the point where we consistently play in the post season.

3.) Keep other sports performing at a high level.

he will be successful in my book. Have a balanced program like this across the board and everything else will work itself out.

    The key is fan support.

  3. Offensive line is what's going to hold us back.

We could finish this season as a 3-9 or 4-8 type team if our offensive line plays how they have been, but if they improve just enough to give Flowers and the backfield time to work I believe we could be a solid 8 or 9 win team contending for a conference title.

  4. The basketball team is quietly assembling some talent.  Smith our new JUCO signee is a former 4 star, Peters a 4 star, Santos also.  He's bringing in a lot of athletic ability and shooting.  Long guys.  Next will be Outlaw who's another long guy at 6'5 210 pound SG/SF.  Smith is a 6'4 combo guard.  Peters 6'3 point guard who can shoot lights out.  Guerrero is who I'm looking to to make a big jump.  I mean Da Silva is another 6'5 uber athletic guy who can really shoot.  You look at the offer lists for a lot of these guys and what we have... I like what Coach Antigua is building.  Holston, Bo, Morrillo, etc... Stan's problem was he was never able to build a complete team top to bottom.  It appears Antigua is trying to do that.  Even without Perry next season (not sure what will become of his medical condition) we should be a really good team.  I saw improvement towards the end of the season.  I enjoyed watching the team and style of play....

I don't doubt Peter's talent for one second but is he really that good of a shooter? Honest question because I have no idea, but basing it off his freshman stats at Maryland where he shot 40% from the field, was 1/9 from 3, and shot 64% from the line it seems like either he isnt that great of a shooter or just freshman jitters maybe?

  5.

Sat in the Box next to Coach O at the Women's Game Monday, He and two others ( one his brother I believe or asst coach). They were into game, cheering ect .. stood whole time . Nice support.

He sees what a winner will do to the Dome . He knows if he can ( which he will I believe) start winning , the Dome will fill up for Both Men and Women on a regular basis. We could be a BB FISRT school with good football ( bowl team and occasional Conf Champ) like UConn, and Cincy. ( both went to BCS bowls and play good football most years and have NCAA BB tourney teams consistently.

Would put us in Upper echelon of the conference. look at Cincy football over last 7-10 years ( a lot of 8 plus wins season)

With that said coach O basically recreated the team completely has the connections to be very good ( UK) , NY recruiting, Overseas ( since he coaches national team). ( Women have found huge success overseas as well).

I see us getting NIT bid this upcoming year minimum. Also don't be surprised if We give UK a good game next year in Dec ( he knows them well and beat them with his Dominican Team this year). Will put us in the spot light immediately early in season.

We will win about 17- 20 Games I think, give or take a few on either side.

In two more years we will be picked to win AAC preseason and we will make the Big Dance

Book it now folks. Get ur tickets so you wont be left out watching on TV, Cant replicate the crowd on TV. ( Women's game gave me Goosebumps and was rocking)

    (1) We'll always be a football first school. This state doesn't have the wealth of basketball talent, nor the fan interest. UConn and Cincy both sit in areas that produce some of the best basketball talent in the country.

    (2) Slow down on the NIT.

10 players on the basketball ESPN top 100 from 2015 are from Florida.

  6. Going to take some winning season's to get 4/5 star players at all let alone consistently.

The 2016/2017 year will be when we realize what Antigua can do.

He'll have had another year to recruit and we'll see how he develops his players and gets them to buy into his system.

We could have a starting lineup of all upperclassmen that year too with Peters, Holston, Ziegler, Perry, and Guerrero. They've all shown potential to be special players, only time will tell if coach can get the most out of them.

  7.

I hope the offense is doing this well, but I can't help but think there is a bit of Harlan engineered marketing going on here.  At least from the official USF communication if not from the Times.  It certainly doesn't hurt to give off the perception that the offense has been "fixed".

Maybe we'll know a little more after the spring game, but it will at least be a couple weeks into the season before we can tell for sure.  I do have a good feeling about the co-coordinators.  It's the three headed combination them with Taggart that I'm not sure will work out or not when the bullets start flying.

I don't know about "fixed", but I really do feel we'll be able to tell if its improved after the first game of the season.

In 2013 we could tell by the first half of the first game it was going to be a long year, down 33-7 at half to McNeese St. everybody knew we sucked.

In 2014 it wasn't as ugly, but still, after losing to Western Carolina at half in the opener and letting them get like 500 yards of offense everybody knew a bowl game was going to take a miracle.

This year I believe that opening game will be really telling. FAMU is a bad FCS team, if our offense (and defense) have really improved to the point were fans should have a reason to come to the games and have hopes for a bowl game we'll be up by 20 in the first half and our backups will get good reps in the 2nd half.

  8.

Hopefully its the other guy Vega mentioned on the thread I started on today's commitment. Not sure about the 5th year guy..wonder who it could be and what spot.

Good work Mama! Gonna be a whole new squad next year basically.

The hope is that USF can land Outlaw who is considered the slightly better player between him and Smith. Either way Outlaw would fills a need at the SF spot where he would have to be the favorite to start, while Morillo can come off the bench as a 6th man type that provides offense among the reserves.

The other hope is that big man Johncarlos Reyes will come on board to. He's a Dominican and both Antigua's are recruiting him personally. Reyes suppose to be among the best available Bigs out there to sign at this point and would be a nice addition to the roster imo.

Also with head coaches being fired now, their committed players might be looking elsewhere to play. Just might be something to keep an eye on if the opportunity presents itself.

Do you think Smith is going to be the starter at the 2? Ziegler, Holston, and Morillo all off the bench is some nice depth.

Also what about down low? Are Perry and Guerrero expected to be starters or do we have some new guys coming in that could change that?

  9. Roddy Peters was a 4 star player coming out of high school, ranked as the 41st best overall player in his class by ESPN. Egbunu came out the same year and was ranked 60th on that same list. Also had offers from Kansas, Uconn, Georgetown, UCLA,  and Memphis.

He has the potential to be an amazing player, who knows, maybe based off practices Antigua already thought he was better than Collins.

I'm more worried about how we're going to play with him off the court. Will McMurray be ready to play his true freshman season? Who else do we have to play on the ball when Peters is out of the game?

I feel like were solid at the 2/3 spots though which is good because with how Antigua wants to run were going to need some depth on the wings.

  10. So who will likely be gone after this season? We know Corey Allen for sure, but what about the others?

    Cousins? Clayton? Collins? Dinero? Perry?

Also what about walk ons Bodway and David?

BTW, while looking at the roster I noticed a new player Tre' Bryant is added to the roster as a walk on, wasn't sure if that was already announced news. It says:

Was added to the roster on March 10, 2015 as a walk-on… Served as a practice player on the women’s basketball team this season.
