  1. The easiest role to play is that of the cautious contrarian. You didn't say anything at all in your post and nothing that pretty much everyone on this board has already expressed.  Were either of the last two games perfect?  No,  far from it. Tackling needs to improve,  kick return coverage needs to get better,  the team needs to get off to better starts, but, despite those issues,  we still found a way to win the games. Everyone agrees the betting line is inflated,  everyone is hoping to win this weekend,  against UCF, and somehow find at least 1 upset in the other 4 games. Enjoy it when the team wins,  come back and say I told you so when they lose....ahhhh, the life of the cautious contrarian!

Amen to this! O wish I could like it 100 times. These same people are the ones who said we didn't stand a chance in these games. Now we barely scraped by... come on man. We won both of those games decisively. We will win this one too. We held the best if not the second best offense in the conference to 27 points and we scored on them. All defenses we have played are better than what we play Saturday and we scored on those. We will be just fine you negative Nacys.

  2. I was a huge Grothe fan (unprovoked Facebook politics messed that up for me) but some of you are making him out to be a God among men. He didn't do it alone, most of our big wins came against big schools in a down year. He gave us A LOT of wonderful memories and I will always respect him as a BULL but come on man. NFL caliber defense AND NFL caliber wide receivers (assumjng what a fellow bull said earlier is true). May not have had much of a running game, but the game itself was different back then. The team's we are playing now aren't slouchess. The American is getting some much deserved respect from how hard we all play. I agree this conversation is coming too early, but it's not unreasonable to think that QF, if he continues to play hard can surpass the QB numbers before him.

  3. First of all, the racism statement is complete nonsense. Second, where in the world are you getting your numbers from??

    1. Grothe had 9 passing TDs through his first 7 games and 7 INTs not 8 and 8. He also added 7 rushing TDs during his first 7 games. So he had 16 total TDs vs 7 INTs.
    2. How many of those 137 attempts are the jet sweep which is 100% completion percentage for Flowers? 25? 30? Say he actually throws the ball downfield on those and his completion percentage which is worse than Grothe's in the chart above ends up being even lower.
    3. Flowers has 14 total TDs (10 passing) vs 6 INTs (wrong number in the chart again).
    4. Grothe had 1,388 yards passing through 7 games in 165 attempts. Comes out to a 8.41 yards per attempt. He also completed 104 of his first 165 pass attempts. Comes out to a 63% for completions.
    5. Grothe's record through his first 7 games was 5-2.
    6. Flowers has completed 83/137 for 1,046 yards which comes out to be a 7.635 yards per attempt.

So here is the REAL break down.

    Completion %: Grothe 104 completed, 165 attempted pases = 63%

                          Flowers 83 completed, 137 attempted passes = 60.5%

    Pass Yards:    Grothe 1,388 yards

                          Flowers 1,046 yards

    Yards/Att.:      Grothe 8.41

                          Flowers 7.635

    Record:          Grothe 5-2

Flowers 3-3* Let's be honest, would be 3-4 had Taggart ran him out there for the final possession of the SMU game.

Good try though. I really like what I've seen out of Flowers. Every game Taggart seems to trust him more and Flowers has rewarded him by playing really well. You obviously got way ahead of yourself above, or purposely fudged numbers.

I Will say even with your corrected stats Matt isn't in a different league. Flowers is in the ball park.

  4. I just hope someone can figure out how we are going to put up at least 28-35 against either team  they both can move the ball .  Oh yeah, we don't play Houston  still SMU will be a handful

We wouldn't have needed that much against Memphis and their offense is much more potent. We've got this

  5. This my good man is what we call spin... You are good at it. They only scored 24 because that's what they could score. Most teams don't go out and says let's score just enough to win. I'm sure they pride themselves on their high powered offense and won't hurt their stats just to beat us.

  6. I admit I'm naturally optimistic so I always look for the positive. I'm starting to think that I can't get my Bulls news here. People are just too negative. The announcer said it best, we are on the right track, we're just a couple steps behind Memphis and having their type of transition. Paraphrasing of course, but I believe it.

I, like you all, have watched this team for years. I started at USF in 2006.I know how "good" we were and I have seen us fall from grace. I can see a true difference in this team and I believe CWT and company are doing the right thing by us. Losing sucks for EVERYONE, especially the student athletes who are working their tales off, but if they can fight and believe why can't you?

This coach put his reputation on the line to take over a dumpster fire. He's not perfect and neither are we, but saying and believing that he's inept and doing anything less than his best with this program is ridiculous. That was the most complete game I've seen from this team in a while. Losing hurts, but if we continue to grow like we are we are going to give lesser teams fits.

Memphis only scored 24 points... That's amazing. QFs can throw the ball like "we all" hoped he could. He's becoming a great leader and I hate the result but I thank God for the process. People said we were spoiled in the past and every time I come here I can see why. We rose faster than we deserved and can't handle the growing pains. We want to fire and replace everyone for every minor offence...

I'm proud of my Bulls and their progress. I hope some of you can get past the anger in your heart and see the growth. If you can't, watch any game after BJ Daniels went down. Watch any game from 2 years ago... Watch the UCF game last year and tell me you don't see the change.

Go ahead and hate I'm taking a break from here anyways. Go Bulls!!!

  7. Don't you all believe in positive and negative energy??? Y'all get so dark so quick. Think about how well or defense is doing, think about all the praises they're singing of our game plan so far. Think of how QFs avoided that safety and threw it away. Think about how great it punter is. Think in how much it bulls are fighting, positive vibes man, who thought Memphis would have only scored seven in the first half???

  8. So, we aren't running a hurry up offense this year?

    Mack Attack

Controlling the pace of the game and eating up clock time could be a way for USF to slow Memphis down. Setting the tone with an effective running game would help and USF is looking to get its biggest playmaker on offense more involved.

Marlon Mack led The American with 1,041 rushing yards as a freshman and he’s averaging 5.4 yards per carry as a sophomore. Mack averaged 5.92 yards per carry on 12 attempts the last time out at Maryland.

“No matter how that game goes, he’s got to get more than 12 touches,” Taggart said. “That’s on me that he makes sure he gets more than 12 touches, and he will.”

It’s important to note that Mack ran for 102 yards on 16 carries in USF’s meeting with Memphis last season in Tennessee. One of Mack’s carries went for a 75-yard touchdown 11 seconds into the second quarter.

Against  a high-powered offense you want to keep them off of the field as much as possible. So this is one where you don't want up tempo offense because our defense has to win us this game and if they're gassed...  Even if our offense is efficient, we can't win a shoot out.

  9. This makes perfect sense to me. We can have a revolving door at the coaching position OR the players can make plays. I don't look at the game and feel defeated before the first snap. I do see missed plays and opportunities. Head coach doesn't matter when your players don't show up, then the bulls nation gives them a pass and says it's the coaches fault... What if they are prepared properly for gane day, what if we do make adjustments over half time, what if the players simply are not executing?

I can't believe no one has called out CWT response. To paraphrase:

"Player only meetings can be good but if the actions on the field don't match then they are a waste of time"

Am I the only one floored by this response?

I'm floored it took this long for the players to take accountability for their missed opportunities.  The coaching staff has put them in positions of strength and for the most part they've missed opportunities.  If you fail at your job is it your bosses fault?  I had a rough year on the job part of last year and I own it.  My boss set me up for success and I didn't execute.  The ship was righted (by me) and things are much improved.

Adams makes the catch and Abraham plays his position at MD and it's a very different game.  Fullwood stops playing powder puff at FSU and the game tone is different.  Players make plays when they need to.  The OL has stunk this year and gets pushed around like a bunch of wimps.  Sanchez played a good second half at MD, but needs to show up every play.  Price has done nothing.  Less than nothing this year and is being beaten out of his position by a true Freshman.  Fire CWT if it makes sense at the end of the year.  Who cares who coaches if players don't make plays.
