They seem to never let it go.  It's awkward.

It's difficult to establish anything that is "tradition" when the program itself is so young. I know things had changed a lot from before I marched, to when I marched.  As I'm sure a lot has changed since left. (06-08 marching, 08-10 helping). They try to hold on to some things some alumni still feel like they left a legacy behind.

  2. I cut my USF football teeth starting in the 2006 range.  I've always been of the belief that the only substantive difference between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots,' was history and money.

I honestly thought that if given the chance, we could go toe to toe with anyone (when we were consistently good).

Our former football conference mates are making me rethink that.

Those who shall not be named 6-6

    Cincinnati- 3-9

    Houston 4-8

What happened to them?!?! I thought they were all solid programs that would transition just fine. Did they all lose a lot of talent or is this the future we all pine for...?

To be fair I did look up...

Rutgers 1 winning season out of 9

Louisville 6 winning seasons out of 9

I didn't include Pittsburgh or Syracuse because they never made it to the AAC.

  3. The same things that are fantastic when we win, are seen as dreadful,  when we lose. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's never been much of a talker. We simply weren't prepared (and still put up 30+ points). We won't take FAU for granted I'm sure. Next game.

So your definition of “transformative” is hype?

I believe the jersey sales, commercials, brand recognition, sold out games, etc. are way more than just hype. I don't know why some of you have such a hard time with Dion's personality. He's thanking God every other sentence. He's allowed to be confident, he's earned it. Just because he's not soft spoken and kissing the rings of the football elite as he tiptoes around acting like being the coach of a D1 program is his dream come true, doesn't mean he's not a good coach.

I'm REALLY trying to understand where the hate comes from. I have an idea, but I'm really trying to give some of you the benefit of the doubt. He's not Lovey or Dungie, but he's no Terrell Owens either (assuming y'all felt the same way about him) y. He chose not to come here, it hurt me too, but I don't hate him for it.

All we had on our schedule to prove his team was as good as advertised was Alabama. When he really wins at Colorado in the next year or two, there is no "he's just out talenting weaker opponents." Which I'm sure people can and will say if we end up with a really good win loss record (assuming anyone in their right mind wanted to defend FCJS).

If/ when we win the conference without going through those pee colored people to our south, people can and will have the same counter argument. Coach Prime needed a place with  equal footing, immediately, to shut up the critics. He can't simply buy talent and win at Colorado. He needs depth, great coaching, and talent to even begin to be successful. One can argue he's already turned the football world upside down even at 3-2 so far. Simply by not being 0-5 with a team that was 1-11 last year,  and knocking off a ranked opponent and being competitive with another (definitely not Oregon). None of that points to a guy who can't coach.

If money could do it, there's no way FSU, LSU, Alabama, Texas, Florida,  etc. would ever not have a winning season. They throw money at EVERYTHING in their football world and obviously don't always experience success.

Just admit that y'all are angry for whatever reason and not looking at this objectively. Coach Prime really can coach and we didn't land him. That doesn't take anything away from Coach Golesh. I hope he is the guy who will be everything that I wanted CWT to be.

Players come to Colorado to get paid and play for coach prime.  There are better  coaches and teams in the pac than the swap. You can't just buy wins without good coaching plans. Colorado is much better but no where near the a contender for the pac.

No one truly expected them to be competing for the conference in season 1. They were 1-11 last year and are already competing with and beating ranked opponents. They were an onside kick away from completing the comeback today. You can dislike his personality, y'all don't seem to like slick talking quick witted coaches. That's fine, but all of the talent in the world doesn't make it gel. Talent doesn't game plan and make adjustments. Jeff Scott is a perfect example,  Golesh is taking less than what Jeff Scott had and is doing more... Bad coaching costs games and good coaching gives you a chance when you shouldn't have one. Golesh and Prime are both solid. That's all I'm saying.

Did Jeff Scott ever beat navy? Did he ever make half time adjustments to come back and beat an fbs team? Rice is just as good as some of the teams he couldn't beat or had a losing record against still in the aac. Golesh and his staff are much better and competent than Scott.

I'm referencing Coach Prime, not Jeff Scott. All I'm saying is Colorado isn't losing due to coaching. They are outperforming, and everyone has access to the same system. Can't fault him for players wanting to play for him. We can all do well.

  7. I like winning just as much as the next Bulls fan but I wouldn't say all of that. They are both turning around losing programs. One has an easier schedule and the luxury of little to no expectations. The other has people celebrating a team that won one game last year, barely losing, to established ranked opponents.

. . . That final touchdown.  Willie would have punched it in as opposed to taking a knee on the 10

Still, once the offense got rolling, it was fun to watch

I too felt this way in the moment. It'd been so long since we decisively beat someone, I wanted the score to be even more lopsided.

I can appreciate the fact that we didn't, but I wouldn't have been mad if we did. That's why I decided to negate the negative reaction.

  9. It's wild to me reading these comments. We do realize we're playing Alabama right... our 0 FBS wins in an eternity team, is tied with Alabama. We are supposed to be down by 100+ and some of us are complaining about our offense not exploiting the Alabama defense... let that sink in. This is already a win in my book no matter what the final score ends up being.

  10. I like following up on Prime Time stories. It would've been AMAZING having him here, but I'm rooting for his success wherever he goes.

It's crazy watching people move the goal post anytime he's successful. "He can't out talent people in Colorado..." "He won't be able to get recruits to go there..." "The roster turn over is a bad sign..." "I can't believe he brought his son in and introduced him as the starting quarterback..." "TCU is overrated..." "Just wait until his son graduates..." "He's only successful because he's buying his players..."

I think some people should just admit that they don't like the man. He's bold, he's talented, and he's not tiptoeing around the football elite. He's shaking up the system and challenging the status quo. It is a really fun thing to watch. I just wish someone at the university could've seen this coming.

He's one of those people who is way too proud to fail. Good to know that the thought of him thinking of coming here wasn't just a pipe dream.

  11. It's the eyeball test for me. I feel very confident in saying this years team would beat last years team. Would it be flashy, no, but the offense and defense have life and an identity.

I got nervous yesterday, but I never felt defeated. Even the WKU game didn't leave me feeling defeated. This team is fun to watch even when we're simply good.

I can't wait to see how good they are at the end of the season.
