It will be interesting to see if their Coach is in as high a demand after this season.
That’s the toughest part of the collegiate sports environment. Can you hold onto your coaches to keep your program on top? Few programs have money to retain and fire at the whims of the mob, err fans

Projected matchup: UCF vs. USF
The 'I-4 Rivalry' as they call it in Florida might be renewed during bowl season in the perfect setting. USF beat Charlotte Saturday to reach bowl eligibility, while UCF's victory over Houston also clinched a spot in the postseason.

why wouldnt fau get selected ahead of usf?
Because Boca is like Clearwater. Fun to visit, but it really doesn’t have that much to offer. Mediocre academics, lots of competition in their market, and their alumni footprint probably isn’t bigger enough yet.

I mean does being right not indicate it was reasonable and not Kool aid inspired? If anyone looked at this schedule and thought 6-6 was impossibly lofty I would argue they have drunk far too much of the everything is impossible here and everything takes forever Kool Aid the athletics failures perpetually peddle. It’s not true, it’s never been true and hopefully this puts it to bed forever. We would all be better served by honesty and expectations.
Did you forget about this guy? The stench of his cologne has barely been lifted from the locker room.
every postgame interview was that we lost by this much. Not to mention the exodus of talent that left the cupboard pretty bare. This season did look like a pretty good climb to get to .500

I , I am asking to appreciate that if someone went into the season thinking 6-6 was a reasonable expectation that meeting that and nothing else isn’t an a and isn’t a b it’s a c because that’s what you get when you meet expectations.
Was CaliBull on here and I missed it? Not sure who else was expecting a 6-6 season. If you were legit expecting that hats off to you, and I’ll take a double of the kool aid you’re sipping on

Feeling out coaches to take a job before actually firing the current one ...... classy.
I agree. Not a good look. I wonder if this will shake things up recruiting wise. If their instability means we can land some decent talent that would really help us out.

I don’t like either of these matchups. Hopefully we get a better game

They are grading on the other extenuating circumstances that we had no business being the worst, we were coached by the worst coach, that our conference difficulty plummeted this season and most importantly that they went into this season with the expectation that 6-6 was a reasonable result. It may not match your criteria but it certainly isn’t unreasonable.
The only teams that were closed to an automatic win were Rice and Charlotte. FAMU gave us a run for our money. FAU played us like we were their Super Bowl. UTSA was as good or better than most of the teams that we played last season. We dodged a couple bullets not playing SMU or Tulane. Navy and Temple were not gummy games, so we did well to earn our way to 6 wins.

Dude what does this have to do with anything? Several positive posters gave us a c, if your expectation was 1-2 wins I can see this being an a but if they expected 6-6 (which they stated) and we hit 6-6 how in the heck would that be an a in any grading scale? What if we won 8 games (which was completely possible) what grade were they required to give then?
8 wins A+
Even with the soft schedule I was only expecting 3 wins. We had growing pains, but turning around a down culture is very hard. The guys fought and didn’t give up, even when they normally would have. Just getting bowl eligible is solid B given where we were, at least for me. Next season we should start to get back to more normal expectations, but to me this is a curve year. And I’m grateful that we’re bowling! -

I’m not taking umbrage with anyone’s grade or their criteria, I’m taking umbrage with the idea that an a is the only acceptable grade. If someone had us going 6-6 (perfectly reasonable) it shouldn’t be unreasonable that they would give a c for meeting expectations (thats the definition of a c level performance to most).
Dude
since the last time we this many wins in a single season. Heck we didn’t have this many wins in multiple seasons now. Chill off the we were #2, everybody gets 6 wins talk. There weren’t many people that expected, or thought realistically that we were going bowling this year. We were picked as the consensus last or next to last in the conference. Enjoy it. May not be much to you, but most of us are happy with the way this season played out. -

Track every open job, potential hot seat, and all...Billy Napier In Trouble At Florida?
According to some close to the program via insider message boards, Florida head coach Billy Napier’s job at Florida is not set in stone. Reportedly, this will take some gauging of interest to see where the Gators stand from other potential candidates before they make a move, however.
Apparently, UF has approached the following head coaches to gauge their interest in taking over the program:
- Arizona HC Jedd Fisch
- JMU HC Curt Cignetti
- Kansas State HC Chris Klieman
- Liberty HC Jamey Chadwell
- Toledo HC Jason Candle
- Washington HC Kalen DeBoer

Says he was the TAMU defensive coordinator before he took the Duke job where he had success
Meh. Duke is not a football school. I guess the AD at T A&M saw something in him. Still would’ve liked to see the Ragin Roadkill’s coach for the role.

He took a trash football p5 team and has built a 7-9 win team on a year to year basis. He knows the TAMU program and probably signed for less than Jimbo. The team was better when he was running the defense. They hired a guy that wins more games than he losses with less and can punch upwards. The AD wants to build a championship contender and isn't afraid to try do it. TAMU went down when Elko left. It could be a coencidence or having something to do with him.
I guess it’s all about the connections. The ACC isn’t exactly the SEC. Jumbo figured that out the hard way. Maybe this guy will fair better for them.
-
Mike Elko to T A&M. Why would you hire a football coach from Duke? The UTSA sage grouse coach seems like a better fit to me.

I suspect Allen is taking the year off with his $15 million.
Or, he could consult. Make a little money and help our defense along without all the time burden and commitment. That would be if he doesn’t get a gig and wants to keep his hands in the game.

The conference should’ve brought Appy State or Coastal Carolina in instead of Charlotte. I think one of them would’ve made a better addition. Charlotte brings nothing but bottom 10 attention.
