  1. MANY schools are struggling with attendance. VA Tech had a long string of sellouts end this year and that's just one example. Virtually every game is on TV or online. There's a lot of competition for the entertainment dollar. The Raleigh area has a very large number of transplants who couldn't care less about local college athletics...they still pull for Ohio State, Pitt, Michigan, etc. UNC and Duke are just minutes away, ECU about 1:45. NC State hasn't been relevant in football for a long time and we went ofer in the conference last year, but we still go sit in the broiling heat and humidity of September, driving rain, and the cold of late November. Lord only knows what it would be like if we ever become a consistent top 25 team. You guys will get there. As many have said...winning cures just about everything. Then it becomes THE thing to do. So hang in there...talk it up with your friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Wear your USF gear to the grocery store. Fly your flags. Looking forward to a good game Saturday. I can't make the trip but there will be some Wolfpack red scattered around RJ. Hope to see y'all back in Raleigh.
  2. NC State's DL was thought to be the defensive strength this year, and may yet be...but so far that hasn't been the case. The former regime's philosophy was to blitz a lot and the D line was supposed to keep the O line off the linebackers, and set the edges so as to funnel everything to the linebackers. The current philosophy seems to be to have more speed in the back 7, get more run support from the safeties, and get pressure from the front 4. I'm just a fan and not a coach so I could be wrong about all of that. We've already seen when the RB gets to the 2nd level and the safety is out of position then a long run results. Should be a good game Saturday...and I have to agree from what I've seen so far with the young back 7 that there will be some rushing success to be expected.
  3. Yeah...2 years ago we beat them in Raleigh and actually have had some success against them. Last year, however, was a beat down worse than the score would indicate. I'm too lazy to look it up...but is USF scheduled back in Raleigh?
  4. NC State fan here...I come in peace. That board is one of what we call our Monkey Boards, for obvious reasons. It's one of the more benign ones and generally humorous. I sat through the entire monsoon game debacle. The first two games this year were pretty hot and humid, especially the first which was a 12:30 start (90 degrees and 75 dewpoint). We have a young team this year...playing a lot of true and RS freshmen but at least our QB play so far is much improved from last year. Should be a good game this w/e. I won't clutter your board and will never flame...if you want to talk football I'd be happy to chime in.
