  1. I think Taggart is in for the long haul. He has mad pride in the area, and if he makes USF a powerhouse, he can have the USF legacy all to himself. I dont think he will leave USF unless he gets an offer from a powerhouse program like Texas or Miami Me personally, while being a P5 school would be great, if we dont get in we can still have success. Boise State has had more success in the past decade than a majority of these P5 programs and had BCS success. To me, its easier now b/c you dont have to get voted in the National title game, just the playoffs. Hell if we win a National title while not in the P5 that would be equivalent to back to back rings b/c its such a harder path. I think Taggart will stay put and become the Tampa version of Bobby Bowden/Spurrier lol

  2. 1. Southern Miss - I love their history and Tradition. I would love for them to go back to their glory days in the AAC
    2. Georgia Southern or Georgia State, we need some GA representation
    3. L.A Tech - Gives Tulane a natural rival and more AAC representation in Louisiana
    4. Western Kentucky - Taggart left the team in good shoes and they have balled every year since he left. They stay beating there SEC instate brother
    5. FIU/FAU are the replacement for UCF/USF when/If we leave the AAC.  They are a package deal like us and wont join the AAC until we leave. But I would be happy with them since I was raised in Miami.
    6. Toledo - Give Nothern Illinoise a rival and they huslte hard as a team as well.
    7. Northern Illinois - They bust their ass and compete every year. I think an AAC push for their reuiting will help
  3. I saw an interview with him and 2 other recruits. He wants to play quarterback and actually performed well at some camp Taggart has. He stated he chose USF b/c all the schools that recruited him never spoke to him for more than 5 minutes, but Taggart sat down with him for an hour. He stated he felt comfortable with the team atmosphere. I think all of these camps that Taggart is doing is paying off plus many of these kids generally like Taggart.

  4. 1)  Whom do you expect to be a standout in Fall practices?  Why? Tramal Ivy….his film clips are awesome, definitely the next JPP/Selvie except he’s not Haitian.lol Tyler Pippen - he had awesome clips in high school, hopefully he gets playing time. There is a walk on named Edrick Neal. He is like 6’4 360Ibs, used to be 400Lbs, but he really got himself in shape from the last picture  I saw of him. . His tape is pretty good, full of pancakes and he has a nice aggressive attitude. His super athletic younger brother semi committed to Alabama.

    2)  Assuming Fall Practices are open, do you plan to attend?  Multiple times? No I live in GA

    3)  Which game will be your first in-person game this season?  Not sure if I will make any games this year. Hell still haven’t made a Gator game and I graduated from UF lol

    4)  Would a win over FSU rate as a Top 5 - best ever? Top 5, the Auburn win was the best and what helped USF rise as a program. That’s when I first notice the team. If USF beats FSU, then there should be no reason not to get a conference title. The last time we beat them, they weren’t at their best.

    5)  What position do you feel we have the most depth....and, the least depth? Defensive end, Running Back, Linebacker, wide receiver, Tight end, and quarterback.  Least- O-Line, but feel we have more talent.

  5. Being from Miami, we had Heat  fans, but if the Knicks came to town they had more fans in the stands. Unfortunately the big crowds did not come until Pat Riley came and we started winning.  Most teams that always have fans even when they lose either have no other team to complete with in the city or the team once was dominant. I’m sure once USF starts winning the fans will be there. I think many people just got tired or being disappointed and there was some pretty bad football. As for not getting in the B12, well all we can do is ball to the best of our ability and win our conference. We can get a bowl game or through luck sneak In the playoffs. Boise State has had more success than a majority of P5 teams in the past decade w/o being in a P5 conference and hell they don’t even have the recruiting advantage we had. So if they can be successful w/o being in a P5 league why can’t we?

  6. I’m not going to judge the man. I look at it this way, he has caught a lot of heat from the fans, donors and in the blogs the past year. I’m sure he reads some of the stuff said about him. I’m sure a few donors and Harlon had a few harsh choice words that was said to his face.  Then he was on the hot seat for the 1st half of the season. **** right he takes this interview, because just like in the real world, you will want to see what your value is and use it as leverage. Hell I work in project management, if a big company reaches out to me, I will definitely go and see what they are talking about and how much they are offering. This is his chance to say “f**k you, pay me”.  And let’s look at it from another angle. If he truly turned down an interview from an SEC school, do you think it would have been accepted well? They would have said he has an ego and who the hell does he think he is turning down an SEC interview. Or people would of said he is a dumba** for not going to the interview. What if he gets fired from USF in the next 2 years? Do you think the SEC schools will forget that he had the audacity to turn down a SEC opportunity?  Now personally, I do not think it is worth it. He has a pretty nice situation at USF.  While I think he should have gone to the interview, I do not think he should accept the offer. Now to me Harlan needs to lock him up and let’s all move on.

  7. I'm just curious as to what would make Quinton Flowers the greatest USF quarterback so far in our short history? He's breaking and setting records left and right. He's put us in position for our first conference championship game and he carries this team. I supported him from the get go but I don't believe anyone aside from Taggart seen this coming. What are your thoughts?

_Taken from another blog comment section. I did not take the time out to verify these stats, but this is all of our quarterbacks 1st year stats as a starter, well except for Mike White.  I still prefer AW to be our quarterback, but can live with Flowers.

    1. 1570 yards, 48%, 7TD, 8INT – Julmiste

    2. 1620 yards, 52%, 16TD, 10INT – Blackwell

    3. 1983 yards, 54%, 14TD, 9INT – Daniels

    4. 2023 yards, 61%, 21 TD, 8INT – Flowers

    5. 2576 yards, 64%, 15TD, 14INT – Grothe

  8. Bowl Projections from Campus Insiders. Why the hell can’t USF get a chance to play against a P5 team? How come we can’t go to the Cure or Birmingham bowl?

  9. I got laughed at when I made my post about Memphis  going to the playoffs, so now I shall add some more meat to my “what if” scenario for an AAC school going to the playoffs. Ironic how Houston is in that #13 spot Memphis was in. So let’s go back to this discussion except with Houston in the driver’s seat. Now, I will eliminate Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama from this discussion b/c I feel they will win out. The Pac 12, eliminated their whole conference, so now there is a huge opening for that final playoff spot. The next 9 spots ahead of Houston all play each other so at least 4 or 5 of them is guaranteed a loss. There are several situations in which most of these teams can get 2 or 3 losses to end the season. I won’t break down every scenario, but simply list what is ahead for each team. I didn’t even count the loss 5 of these schools will face during their conference Championship game. Anyways, I know it’s a long shot, but hell, that's what makes college football awesome. Like I said earlier, USF fell into the #2 spot one time, so let’s see if Houston can sneak into the playoffs and represent for the AAC. Ok, let me me have it. Tell me why I need to lay off the pipe or back up my AAC going into the playoffs scenario. At his point we had 4 ranked teams, now it's time for the AAC to get into the playoffs.,,,well it would be nice.

4             Oklahoma St – Baylor and Oklahoma – Chance to lose both

5             Notre Dame – BC and Stanford– Chance to lose both and 1 might take them out of it

6             Iowa – Purdue and Nebraska - Chance to lose both and 1 might take them out of it

7             Oklahoma – TCU and Oklahoma State – Chance to lose both

8             Florida - I love USF and the AAC, but I'm a Gator first, I hope the football Gods gets them in the playoff's lol but for my argument - FAU and FSU is our last 2 games - We might lose to FSU, this                 game can go either way. This is our UCF.

9             Mich State – Ohio State and PSU – Ohio State will eliminate them

10           Baylor – Oklahoma State, Texas, and TCU – Hell they still have 2, possibly three losses here. If they win all three then they deserve a playoff spot.

11           TCU - Oklahoma and Baylor

12           North Carolina - VT and NCST - Maaaan, the rest of their schedule is easy. I really don’t see them losing any more games until the AAC Championship. Those two factors should help us trump them

13           Houston – UConn and Navy and AAC Championship game against hopefully a still ranked Memphis in which they probably will win again.

  10. Memphis would never have sniffed the playoffs.  Put down the pipe.

Um you must of forgot that we was the 2nd ranked team at one point in our existence, not because we were the 2nd best team but mad top ten teams started losing. Memphis was ranked #13 and had 3-4 teams ahead of them lose and one team almost lose to a Vandy team that got spanked by Houston. It wasn't that much of a long shot for Memphis.

  11. Navy’s defeat over Memphis gave the AAC 4 ranked teams, but deep down inside, I know a few of you was hoping Memphis won out and went to the playoffs. I mean the 3 victories over 3 ranked teams, beat two P5 schools including one highly ranked SEC team that beat Alabama, and a conference title could of put them pretty close. Not to mention there are plenty of potential upsets left for this season and many teams in the top ten play each other. Making the playoffs and being at least competitive in the first game would solidify the AAC as worthy of being a Power Conference member.  But In reality the Navy’s win gave us a guaranteed 4 ranked teams and Memphis was a long shot anyways. But it would have been awesome if they made the playoffs.

  12. Not sure what there is to vent about. This is the same USF performance we have seen against other quality opponents. I'd expect that trend to continue for the next few weeks until the UCF game:

    • East Carolina - expect ECU to be favored at home and at night
    • Temple - will we find the end zone against the Owl defense?
    • Cincinnati - our soft defense will be shredded by the Bearcat offense
    • UCF - The Knights are already planning their spring game. If the Bulls lose CWT is gone.

Soft defense? What games are you looking at? We are 59th ranks in total defense, 53rd ranked red zone defense (out of 23 attempts only 10 touch downs scored from other teams) , we ranked 23rd for tackles for loss, We also ranked 29th in team sacks. Our defense may allow a lot of yards, but we make the stops when we need to.
