    Tampa has the better Cuban sandwich due to the salami so maybe that will be enough to keep him. However it is the fishing part that is worrisome. Tampa Bay has great fishing spots but the east coast you can catch more huge gaming fish in the Atlantic. Bucs almost lost Tom Brady to the Dolphins because of this I believe.

    I think he's done all he can do in the AAC.  If his ambition is to take the next step, he'll have to move on to a better conference which attracts better recruits.

    He did mention that Daniel T was doing great things and he expected alot from him next year....for whatever that means

    It sounds like if he hits the weight room during the off-season and continues to improve, he'll get some meaningful playing time next season.

    Just hope we would never go that route. the NIT journey albeit brief was fun, and would always be worthy of playing.

    For a school that is in one of the bigger conferences and goes to the NCAA tourney on a regular basis, it's probably easier to turn down the NIT because they feel it is beneath them and it's rewarding mediocrity.  With our history, we're just happy to still be playing in March, no matter where it is.

    Here's a good article about the changes, with the above further explained:

    In September, The Messenger reported that Fox was negotiating a new postseason tournament to be played in Las Vegas involving teams strictly from the Power 6 conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, SEC and Pac-12). The catch in that proposal: The top two teams from each league that do not make the NCAA Tournament would be required to play in the Fox deal. That would leave the NIT picking over the carcass of what is left behind;

    I'm guessing the casual basketball fan only watches the NCAA tourney and that alternative tourney is just lipstick on a pig...they still weren't good enough for the NCAA tourney.  Maybe fans of the team watch it....but I'd have no interest....only reason I'll be watching an NIT game is because USF is playing.

    Can someone explain to me how a team that finished 12th in their conference goes to any post-season tournament, let alone get the home game over a regular season conference champion?

    College basketball is even worse than football! ESPN doesn't even have an area on their NCAAM site for the NIT. Embarassing.

    (Short answer because of NIT revised selection guidelines)

    NIT took the 2 highest ranked NET teams from the Big 12 not taken by the NCAA tourney.  Those would have been Cincy and Oklahoma.  With Oklahoma opting out, the next highest net team was UCF.  They took Kansas St. as an at-large team which had a lower NET than UCF.  So if Oklahoma didn't opt out, UCF would have taken K-State's place and had the matchup against #3 Iowa and we'd probably be playing Oklahoma.

    Yeah, being on the plus is kind of adding insult to injury.

    Is there a big Cornhole tourney on that night or something?

    At this point, my expectation of ESPN are pretty low.  I can't wait for the season to end so I can stop paying for this garbage station.

  7. I'm sure future seasons will have more difficult OOC opponents.  Coach set up the schedule for a team playing together for the first time and predicted to finish 9th in the conference.  We lost to weaker OOC teams earlier in the season so scheduling tougher teams would have still resulted in a loss.
