  1. Here we go;

Big 12 gets = GA Tech, Clemson, FSU and Miami which makes them 14 total,

B1G grabs VA and UNC to go to 16 total.

SEC grabs VA Tech and NC ST to go to 16 total.

Big 12 is once more two short.

Left overs of the ACC are; BC, Syracuse, Pitt, UofL, Duke and WF.

If the Big 12 were their own lazy selves, they will miss out on UofL and UC.

The ACC Leftovers + the AAC Eastern would look like this.

North:  BC, UConn. Syracuse and Temple.

East:  ECU, Duke, WF and Navy.

West:  Pitt, UC, UofL and Memphis.

South:  USF, UCF and possibly GA St and UAB for Atlanta and Birmingham or Old Dominion to get back into VA. Would swap with a NC school for pod.. Or, just boot WF and take both UAB and Old Dominion.

ND also becomes a Partial member with "6" Football games and all Olympic sports. 3 home and 3 away games for ND in the new ACC contract.

That would give the new ACC a 50% larger population footprint and mostly Large Public schools in major markets.

Houston and SMU could beg for inclusion into the new befuddled Big 12.

Will it happen. Not a chance in Hades!!!!!

  2. We are in the AAC. Do not expect handouts or respect. We're also in the closing moments of what may possibly be the home stretch of the last expansion for a while. Be happy that Judy is there reping the school and our athletics. If there's a Basket Weaving Team, expect someone from the administration to be there for their match if there's also a camera present. :icon_drink:

Was Aresco there? He seems to be everywhere, hmmm.

  3. Whatever you say. I simply mentioned that that site (Which is heavily trafficked) showed an overly positive attitude towards that other school as opposed to USF. I was using it to show the numerous articles published throughout the state on varied topics. Many with little to do with sports but, propping up that other school while minimizing USF.

I was attempting to show how and why USF needs a media partner to do that very thing for it. Like I said, my comments and intentions failed on this crowd. Wrong room so to speak. I'll refrain from doing so in the future. I hope that's ok with you.

Interesting take on why the Big 12 needs expansion. And for non readers, USF is mentioned.

    http://www.barkingcarnival.com/2016/3/8/11179814/big-12-commissioner-we-must-address-our-future

Yes USF is mentioned with a backhanded swipe at our viability as a contributor to any Big 12 Network.

"And that makes the American Athletic Conference very, very nervous, since the programs seen as prime expansion candidates are from the AAC.  South Florida, Central Florida, Houston, Cincinnati even Connecticut are the names most mentioned. Maybe you can wring 10 cents a subscriber out of the carriers in Florida for the 4th and 5th most popular programs in the state, but I doubt it."

Painting USF and UCF as the Number 4 and 5 schools in the state despite several recent surveys showing both tied with or ahead of Miami in following within the demographics of those surveyed. It further doubts that USF and UCF combined could garner 10 cents from subscribers within the state. That's an insult but, I digress.

AZMODI.......Sorry my man but almost all sports pages/writers dump on the home team when they lose unless it has just come to be expected.  The Sentinel wrote all kinds of negative stories about the Knights and their fall from grace last year.  I mean the Thanksgiving weekend story was about the girl dancing by herself in the stadium.  While it made me laugh I am sure none of the UCF fans thought it was funny(well maybe some cause it was really funny)

I'll give you that one as it was funny and she was a good dancer. :roflmao:

Local media treats UCF like any other non-"Big 3", non-local university in its' coverage. Not sure why you'd want it any different ... and I assume you live in Orlando to get the feel for how their media treated them but I would love to see how they avoided writing and bringing attention to the negatives in that train wreck of a season.

Actually I live in Pinellas County. Bring up Klystron9. Go to the news and from their sports/college page. You'll see some of what I mean. It's how they write and yes they do numerous stories on UCF while barely mentioning USF unless USF loses. FYI, it's Bright House Networks promoting them.

How could anyone possibly write a positive article about USF MBB ?  Have you seen them play ?  It is embarrassing.  You want to talk about the coach....I say look to SMU and see what a real coach can do in a short period of time.  I have spent too many years following USF MBB and IMHO this is some of the worst I have ever seen.  I think losing Holston was a shot to the heart because he seemed to be the heart.  After I posted we have never been consistently good someone tried to tell me how good we were not to long ago and pointed out 3 NIT appearances with Lee Rose and then another and three NCAA appearances.  What about the 20 year lapse ?  USF used to be BB only and I spent over 20 years going to the games including post season conference tournaments but I won't drive to Orlando now to see them play because there is no hope of them wining more then one game.  I am sorry but FB can take years to rebuild but BB should not.  Next year ?  I hope for the best but short of being in the top 2 or 3 teams in the conference I doubt we get much better press coverage.  I mean writing about MBB is like writing about and old ACL injury....who really wants to read it.  There will remain a small core of loyal fans no matter what but it is still sad to see the state of USF MBB.  In case you think I hate or don't support them.....you would be dead wrong...always have and always will.

My point is, that even when UCF has been at their worst, their media partners have written about positive things and avoided writing and bringing attention to the negatives. It's not just coverage but, how and what you cover that matters.

I can see that this train of thought is lost here so I'll stop. I will just say, there's a difference between supporting your team and backing your team. I wish that USF could acquire some BACKERS. Backers not only support, they bring attention to and enhance the positives while diverting attention away from the negatives. That's what I've witnessed happening for UCF, FSU, Florida and Miami.

  8. You may not but, this community had better start caring.

USF needs the support of it's local media. Why would they care to support USF? USF is a major employer of this community and has a huge impact on the local and surrounding economies. USF impacts those economies not only with their employees whom live locally and buy homes and raise families here but, by their students whom live in the area while they attend the university, rent living space, buy clothing, furnishings, big ticket items, food and attend restaurants and other evens while they're here.

USF needs the media to be on it's side and be proactive as this could greatly enhance how the University is viewed by outside entities. Further more, those same media entities could in return gain exclusives and breaking stories from the University when they occur. Quid-Pro-Quo.

    Bug then again, Who cares!

  9. As for writing anything about UCF, they were being promoted as the #3 school in the state and then posted an epic third winless season. That article was begging to be written but, a simple crap article less then 3 paragraphs was done. If USF had gone winless, ever paper n this state would have written an article for their front page.

My point is that we are seriously lacking in media support. Neither the Times or the Tribune do USF justice. :furious3:

I see your point but why would a Tampa paper write anything about UCF? I know there is very little written in Orlando about USF. Now generally do the Tampa reporters put down USF? Yeah, they do but mainly when they are not winning. For example there is a big difference from last year's football team and the four years before in terms of positive media coverage. The MBB is indeed a dumpster fire but I suspect the press will get positive if they start to win.

You're right in that they simply wrote little if nothing about USF in Orlando because USF was winning. However, when USF was losing, they wrote tons of crap articles about USF. Please don't tell me how you forgot about the USF is a dumpster fire article from the Slantinel.

I guess I just don't understand anyone reposting any of their articles. They are almost always slanted in favor of UCF. Even the article about receiving government money for improvements and housing. They cited how UCF finished "3rd" out of the "11" Florida Public Universities. Then don't mention it in the headlines and only one sentence tells you that USF finished "2nd" behind FSU.  Bah!!!!

Uhh, do t know why you would get in a hissy about posting the article. It is all legit. Just because the MBB program is trying to get its house in order (and some question if that is even the case) does not negate the fact that this program has had serious problems for four years now. This article was pure fact. Should it not have been posted because the team is trying?

My "Hissy" isn't with the posting of the article. When I wrote "Thanks Captain Obvious", it was intended for the writer of the article. The article goes on to mention some positive things but, mainly it mentions the negatives about the program. That's why I mentioned UCF. It seams that the media entities here love to shat on USF but, tend to leave hands off on UCF. It is something that has been bothering me since 2010.
